A long stage links Hagetmau, in the south of the Landes department, and Orthez, an emblematic village in Béarn, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Via a succession of country roads, it passes through the villages of Chalosse until it enters Béarn via the crossroads town of Sault-de-Navailles. Portions of the road finally take over and bring you closer to Orthez, a stage of great historical and architectural interest.

Over the course of a day, walk this loop and take a break at the Halco lakes while enjoying the various facilities. Parking in front of the church. Start out on the Halco Lakes Road.

Discover among the oaks of the Caillan wood, the neolithic funerary monuments. Park in front of the town hall of Fargues and leave the town hall behind, heading east.

Discovery of the Tursan and its hillsides

From the church of Saint André (12th century), dating from the viscounty of Louvigny, to the Baille mill on the Landes, the circuit offers you a crossing in the north of Béarn on the commune of Malaussanne, at the limit of the Landes.

The church is the main feature of this trail: with its elongated plan, it was remodeled in the 14th or 15th century, when a low side was built on the south side. The east aisle features a ribbed crossing, with pedestals resting on Gothic bases. Mullioned windows and polygonal chevet. South aisle separated from nave by three semicircular arches. Out of Béarn until the French Revolution, this building was remodeled in the 19th and 20th centuries.

From the 12th-century church of Saint André, dating back to the Viscounty of Louvigny, to the Baille mill on the Landes, the trail takes you across the northern part of Béarn to the commune of Malaussanne, on the border with the Landes. The church features prominently on this trail.

The circuit is a nature trail along the water and forests of the Soubestre... With its source near Limendous, north of Pau, the Luy de France crosses the territory for almost 20 km. Bordered by large areas of forest and farmland, it is one of the waterways managed in a way that respects the natural environment. Calm and tranquil in appearance, this watercourse can rise rapidly, spreading over plots of land during heavy rainfall upstream, and fall just as quickly downstream.

The circuit, with the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Cabidos, offers you a nice view on the vineyards of the Manor of Trubessé (Castle of Cabidos) Before or after your walk, don't hesitate to go to the domain of Cabidos (road to the town hall) and the domain of L'Escudé (behind the church) then let yourself be guided in the world of oenology.

The building is the largest wine storehouse in the style of Béarn, despite its geographic location in Chalosse. It took no fewer than 500 m3 of oak – nearly 6 hectares! – to build the structure of this extraordinary storehouse. Fans of art and culture can head upstairs, where you will be impressed by the amazing rafters and exposed stone walls, as well as by the painters, photographers, sculptors and other artists chosen to display their pieces here. Built in the 12th century, the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste is one of the most beautiful in Chalosse. The Romanesque apse is decorated with 4 fine arcatures. Four of the five bays located above are now walled. The apse is supported by four buttresses. Like many Landes churches, the church was fortified in the 14th century. In 1435, a funerary and votive chapel was built against the north side of the church. A true Gothic masterpiece, the stone lacework of the arcatures and lancets preciously decorate this austere entrance. Its furnishings are remarkable: a stone pulpit and a wooden staircase, capitals and vaulting on cul-de-lamps illustrated with finely sculpted figures, a majestic altarpiece and high altar of polychrome wood... and even a well. Note also the beautiful sculptures of the tombs and keystones which are stored in the nave.

Here, she concocts tasty dishes from a variety of horizons. Her specialty is wok cooking (Thai, Indian, Creole), with recipes brought back from her travels. She also does snacking with homemade nuggets, burgers and kebabs (meat or veggie) and, of course, homemade fries. She also offers homemade bites, samoussas, accras, falafels and cheese rolls. You will also benefit from the outdoor facilities such as the summer kitchen bodega. Visit their animals and take the opportunity to improve your English and French with their courses.
