Description

From the 12th-century church of Saint André, dating back to the Viscounty of Louvigny, to the Baille mill on the Landes, the trail takes you across the northern part of Béarn to the commune of Malaussanne, on the border with the Landes. The church features prominently on this trail.

Steps

Start from the tennis car park behind the local sports hall

From the car park, turn left along the road to the Minan farm.

Etape 2

From there, head towards the bridge over the Larritou stream as far as the Lapaillasse farm, then go downhill to the left.

Etape 3

At the little bridge, turn left onto the path and follow the Goua de Bedat stream (the Larruton), which meets the Baillé stream, until you see the Baillé mill and its pond. Located in the commune of Mant, this mill ceased operating in the 1950s. It housed 2 millstones.

Etape 4

Continue uphill and cross the Larritou stream a little further down. You are now back on the RD664.

Etape 5

At the RD 264, turn left towards the town hall and church.

Points of interest

The parish church of Saint André dates from the 12th century

This elongated church was altered in the 14th or 15th century, when a south aisle was added. The east aisle has an ogival crossing, which falls onto Gothic bases. Mullioned window and polygonal chevet. The south aisle is separated from the nave by 3 semi-circular arches. It was one of the 2 parishes of the viscounty of Louvigny, but depended on the bishopric of Lescar. Outside Béarn until the Revolution, the building was remodelled in the 19th and 20th centuries.
