‘There is no text giving us information about the origins of the church's construction, and its style alone suggests that it must have been built in the third quarter of the 12th century. The south wall was rebuilt with neglected masonry and major buttresses were placed against the bell tower and the sanctuary, which was finally modified. In 1844, as the façade had just been restored, the architect Paul Coureau drew up an estimate for a ribbed vault under the exposed roof frame, which was letting in the wind and cold. It was in fact in the 19th century that the church was vaulted; then, in the 20th century, the architect Rapine restored the portal and bell tower and carried out a series of judiciously undertaken works. The only information we have about the village of Petit-Palais concerns the troubles of the Wars of Religion.

The first vines were planted by monks in a convent in the Middle Ages. The vineyard owes its name to the stream known as "La Perrière", from the word Pierrière, meaning stone quarries. The Château produces four wines in the Lussac commune: La Rose Perrière, La Perrière Rouge, La Perrière Blanc and La Perrière Rosé; and one Saint-Emilion Grand Cru wine: Clos les Grandes Versannes. The château opens its doors to visitors for a tour of its winery, vineyards, tasting room and 14-hectare gardens.

Beautiful Romanesque churches from the 11th and 12th centuries.

Remains of the rural home inaugurated in 1954 by Raymond Bonnot, former mayor of Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle, this tower bears a fresco by the ceramic painter René Buthaud. At the end of 2007, the rural hostel of Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle was demolished due to major damage to the building. Rehabilitation work on the central tower has allowed the Buthaud fresco to be preserved and today the tower is integrated into the urban space. René Buthaud, born in Saintes in 1886, first studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bordeaux, then went to Paris where he followed the courses at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs and the École des Beaux-Arts.

As we see it today, the castle was built at the very beginning of the 17th century and has not undergone any significant changes since then. It is a real center of life where the Anglade family resides. Its large square courtyard, framed by five pavilions with Perigordian roofs, opens onto the vineyard which already existed in the 17th century. The terrace of the castle dominates the river Isle with at its feet a mill which is an important factory built in the middle of the 18th century. Today it houses the headquarters of a family-owned industrial group Abzac S.A.. The whole of this architectural heritage, which the Anglade family maintains with passion, is classified as a Historic Monument.

The Aubarède area covers about 47 hectares, bordered by the Isle. The site is characterized by a mosaic of "natural" environments typical of the West Atlantic with meadows enclosed in a bocage with the particularity of being subject to the floods of the Isle. This mosaic of environments is of ecological, biological and pedagogical interest with a precious breeding ground of species. The Aubarède is a space preserved from any urbanisation and is of landscaping interest, with hedges and meadows that bear witness to past activities. A 1.5 hectare pond presents a diversified fauna but confronted with two invasive species that disturb the environment, the coypu and the Jussie. Formerly an area of crops and pasture for work animals, the Aubarède is still exploited by farmers for fodder. The site offers an hour and a half hike for nature lovers.

The Domaine du Petit Bois is 30 hectares of woods and undergrowth which house the Pierre Durand Equestrian Centre. A 2.5 km loop, criss-crossed by 4 km of small paths, allows walkers to discover the local flora with almost hundred-year-old oaks and different species of indigenous trees. The forest is also home to five varieties of orchids that can be admired in spring. The Petit Bois hiking trails are also the starting point for a local loop that takes you to the town centre through the various hamlets of the commune to reach the banks of the Isle.
