A veritable open-air museum, the Saint-Béat marble trail is an experience not to be missed if you are visiting the region. Come and admire the monumental sculptures. The circuit is dotted with contemporary works of art by internationally renowned artists. These sculptures, carved directly from marble and often imposing, offer a striking spectacle that blends with the historical heritage of the town.

Passing between Saint Béat and Marignac, take the GR86, the 277 km trail between Luchon and Toulouse. This path is very steep at the start from Saint-Béat, mainly in the shade of chestnut trees. To pass through the ferns at the Col de Couret, follow the signposts carefully. Spend a day in the shoes of hikers on the GR86!

A pretty loop starting from Boutx. Opposite you are the steep walls of the Pic de Gar. A pleasant hike with magnificent views. At the pass, you will overlook the valley and admire the Hourmigué peak and the cliffs of the Pic du Gar with its high-altitude climbing routes.

Standing majestically in the middle of the valley, the view is magnificent. You may encounter chamois and other deer. Close to Bacanère, this challenging hike offers views of the peaks of Luchonnais and Ariège. The significant elevation gain should be taken into account.

Visible from the entrance to the valley, this is the summit to climb for breathtaking views. This viewpoint in the heart of the area will take you to the Pic du Gar at 1,785 metres and the cross on the Pic Saillant at 1,756 metres.

A memorial hike along the path to freedom: walk in the footsteps of refugees who fled France during the Second World War to reach Spain. This educational trail pays tribute to the men and women who, during the Second World War, risked their lives to cross the Pyrenees and escape Nazi barbarism. This 4 km loop, marked by 12 information panels, follows in the footsteps of a group of resistance fighters who, one night in October 1943, guided by smugglers, set out to reach Spain via Bausen and the Burat Pass. This route has been awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label for all four types of disability (hearing, mental, motor and visual). The route is accessible on foot, by wheelchair or by car: 1.8 km long, including 1.2 km of tarmac road and 600 m of track suitable for vehicles.

A hike through the forest, dotted with picnic tables for rest stops and hidden chapels. Its twenty-metre span, twelve-metre waist and unusual shape make it a very rare specimen. Five trunks grow from a single trunk base, intertwined with a rock. Those who come across this phenomenon in the heart of the national forest wonder which came first, the tree or the rock. If you put your hand in a hole in the trunk, you can feel the rock inside, a curiosity of nature! The stream brings a welcome coolness in summer.

Come and discover an unusual tree. The Rié mountain is home to one of the first trees to appear in the Pyrenees after the ice age 14,000 years ago: the thuriferous juniper. Start at the top of the village of Marignac and head to the Saint-Martin chapel. Then climb up the wagon track to complete the Thuriferous Juniper Trail loop. It runs through the Rié mountain with beautiful views and takes you back to the hamlet of Saint-Martin through the chestnut grove.

Pass through Saint-Bertrand de Comminges and you will be climbing towards the Port de Balès. This unclassified pass (average gradient 6.3%, maximum 11.7%) is tough, but at the top you will be rewarded with an exceptional 360° panorama of the high peaks of the Pyrenees. From Marignac station, head towards Loures Barousse / Saint-Bertrand de Comminges, then Sarp to reach Mauléon Barousse. This is the start of the climb up to the Port de Balès. Once at the pass, descend towards Luchon, passing through all the villages in the Oueil valley, before reaching Marignac station via the D125.

The climb up the Portillon Pass through the pine trees will not leave you indifferent. It is a Category 1 pass (average gradient 6.8%, maximum gradient 8.2%). From there, you will take From Marignac station, turn right towards Saint-Béat-Lez and then Spain to reach the foot of the Portillon pass at the exit of Bossost. At the top, descend towards Luchon and then return to Marignac via the D 125C and D 125. Each bend in the climb up the Col du Portillon honours one of the Spanish winners of the Tour de France, with a stele summarising their victories. The view is worth stopping for a moment to contemplate.

An activity leader will be present to take care of the little kids while the bigger ones take on the via ferrata course accompanied by expert mountain guides. The itinerary is fully secure and all equipment adheres to strict safety regulations. You will be provided with everything you need: harness, helmet, ropes and carabiners. By foot, by boat and by train, discover all of the curious features present in the underground galleries and chambers! BY FOOT, BY BOAT, AND EVEN BY TRAIN: SPEND 80 MINUTES DISCOVERING THE CURIOUS UNDERGROUND PASSAGES AND CHAMBERS OF THE GROTTES DE BATHARRAM! Your itinerary begins with the upper section of the caves, which is composed of vast galleries and immense chambers adorned with numerous stalactites and stalagmites. You will then descend an 80-metre abyss where, accompanied by your guide, you'll take to the underground river in a small boat. Near Nay and Lourdes, the Vieux Logis hotel-restaurant is located a few steps from the region's most important tourist site, the Bétharram grottos. This family home has been lovingly converted into a charming hotel complex by their owners, Francis and Marie-Pierre Gaye. Today, the hotel-restaurant offers a contemporary décor. With its 28 rooms labelled Logis (3 "cocottes" and 3 "fireplaces"), and its 5 huts ("Insolite By Logis"), this establishment is a safe bet as much for the quality of the reception and its rooms, as for its restaurant. The cuisine served showcases the local gastronomy.

We are delighted to welcome you to the ski resort of Gourette, on the Valentin valley, on the GR10 towards the Col de Tortes. The 200 m outward and 180 m return zip lines are suspended on a cable between two mountains. They are accessible to everyone aged 5 and over. The sensations are guaranteed for zero effort! A guide is on hand to welcome you. The harnesses are not suitable for people with a very wide pelvis.

The mill is a vestige of our local heritage. It is unique in its style with its wells "made of white marble from Saint-Béat". The "Moulin des Arts" would have been built in the 16th century, and produced flour until the 1960s. In 2001, the town hall of Saint-Béat acquired it and then began a restoration process. In the past, the inhabitants of the Saint-Béat valleys used to go there to have their grain ground. It was a real meeting place because everyone often came from far away. News was exchanged there... The Moulin des Arts sets up during the school vacations so-called "temporary" exhibitions on different themes ranging from heritage and local know-how to arts and crafts ...

In the heart of the Pyrenees, facing the Pic de Cagire, our gîte is a perfect place to relax and enjoy outdoor activities in all seasons. It comprises a lounge/equipped kitchen, separate toilet, wood-burning stove and balcony/terrace. The bedroom is upstairs, with a comfortable 160cm bed and en-suite bathroom. A 160cm loft bed can be accessed from the living room. The gîte has been designed using natural, environmentally-friendly materials.

Carole and José welcome you to their inn for a peaceful stay in Juzet-d'Izaut, on the GR78, the Voie du Piémont. The dormitory and two bedrooms of the Auberge du Cagire await you for a night at the foot of the Pic de Cagire! The Auberge du Cagire welcomes you all year round and offers you access to its restaurant: traditional cuisine using local produce, all homemade!
