Discover Nature at Camping Saint Martin in Beaumont-en-diois, Drôme

Ce circuit roulant de 13 km dans la Vallée de l’Oule peut constituer une première étape pour progresser vers les parcours rouges. Il comporte de beaux passages en sous-bois, aux abords de ruines et sur les crêtes qui bordent la Montagne de Maraysse. Pour commencer, l’itinéraire se compose de 10 km de piste forestière. Sans difficulté à la montée, cette première portion est roulante et commune avec les Chemins du Soleil. Un panneau explique l’histoire de l’exploitation forestière et agricole de la vallée de l’Oule. Peu après le lieu-dit « les Garenses » (1170 m), possibilité de continuer la piste forestière (au lieu de prendre le sentier) sur 1 km environ jusqu’à atteindre la crête de Maraysse. Il y a une table de pique-nique et un panorama de la crête. Les 3 derniers kilomètres, sur sentier, sont plus techniques avec des descentes raides, ravines et ornières. Cette portion est idéale pour se faire plaisir avec une première approche sur terrain technique. On finit la randonnée sur une piste forestière agréable et bien indiquée avant de se retrouver sur la route menant au cœur du village de Montmorin.

Un circuit sportif et engagée pour découvrir le calme de la vallée de l’Oule et profiter d’un panorama sur les montagnes avoisinantes. Au départ de Montmorin, remonter la route sur 4 km jusqu’à la maison forestière de la forêt domaniale du Val d’Oule. Emprunter la piste forestière roulante pour remonter 600 m de dénivelé sur 6.5 km, jusqu’aux plaines du Duffre. Prendre à gauche pour entreprendre la descente. Le début se fait sur un sentier en balcon ; la vue dégagée permet d’observer la vallée de l’Oule, la montagne de Maraysse et par temps clair d’apercevoir le Mont Ventoux. Attention tout de même à quelques portions techniques par temps humide. Passage ensuite en sous-bois sur un single track roulant et très joueur sans difficulté. Descendre désormais une ancienne piste enherbée sous le col des pros et rester attentif aux lacets peu visibles. Poursuivre sur un sentier technique. Attention, une portion d’environ 50 m nécessite de descendre du vélo pour ne pas chuter (panneau de danger présent sur place). La partie haute de la sente est plutôt roulante et fluide puis plus cassante et avec des épingles de niveau moyen sur la deuxième partie. Ce sentier ramène auprès de la maison forestière. Rejoindre le point de départ par la même route.

Itinéraire sans difficulté technique, entièrement sur piste forestière pour découvrir la sauvage vallée de l'Oule. Ce circuit passe au Col des Praux et tout près de nos voisins Drômois. Prendre la D 26 à la descente, direction Bruis. Abandonner le circuit N°1 (le ruisseau des Combes) en tournant à droite sur la piste de l'Infernet. Pas moins de 4 itinéraires vélo sont en communs dans cette forêt domaniale de l'Oule jusqu'au carrefour des Plaines. Prendre à droite. Rester avec les vététistes du circuit n°7. En prenant progressivement de la hauteur, le panorama s'élargit vers le géant de Provence, à savoir le Mont Ventoux. Au croisement (1255 m), rejoindre le col des Praux (ou bien pour éviter de faire 500 m de plus pour aller au col des Praux, prendre la piste qui descend à droite. Attention aux rigoles d'écoulement d'eau et aux randonneurs pédestres du GR 91).Descendre à droite par le sentier. Atteindre une route, tourner à droite et longer l'Oule jusqu'à Montmorin.

This short pleasant walk takes you through the many vineyards that make up the charming vineyard of Châtillon en Diois. Departure from the Cabanon du Maupas (parking in front of the cellar), take the direction of Châtillon-en-Diois. Always follow the yellow and green markings between the directional signs, take the road for a hundred meters before turning right, between vineyards and crops, then reach a crossroads where a directional panel invites you to continue the walk.1 et le Serre du Poêt 2, ici une halte s'impose. ">To finish the discovery of this vineyard through Les Quatre Chemins 7 then the Cabanon du Poêt, the Cabanon of the Maupas, the starting point of the walk is no longer very far.This itinerary is flexible to your convenience. There are several paths in the vineyards that can be borrowed, it is up to you to compose your itinerary in the middle of the vineyards and the numerous sheds.

A family stroll along the water of the Pas des Ondes, true "oasis” of the Baronnies Provençales. By being parked in the Pas des Ondes car park (parking and access to the water body in July and August are not free), return to the entrance gate of the site. Take the bank path between the Oule river and the lake : The starting point of the theme trail "Faune aquatique du Pas des Ondes" is located there. Follow this flat path for 600 meters to the end of the second lake and pass to the left of the educational pond. 1- Shortly after the two fishing pontoons, facing the hill surmounted by the ruins of the castle, take the small path that goes up the slope. After a turn on the left, the path leads to another path: take a right on this new path crossing towards the river, down to a road. Take a left on the path which turns into a path and join the bank of the river to a pebble beach. 2- Turn back and join the previous intersection. 3- Follow straight on the flat path between the river and the treatment plant and return to the educational pond. 4- Continue the tour of the water bodies along the banks by the flat road or the path through the grass that can be seen near the shores of water bodies.

Discover the charming village of Châtillon and its surroundings by bike and family. Departure from the village of Châtillon, follow the markers n ° 10 of green color. Crossing at the crossroads Le Moulin 1, Champassiasse 2 then Pont de Menglon 3. Return to the village by joining Le Moulin again.

Itinéraire agréable en aller-retour sur une piste forestière, jusqu'au sommet du Fourchat. Culminant à 1571 m d’altitude, ce sommet offre un panorama à 360° sur les Baronnies Provençales. Au col de Pommerol, prendre la piste située sur la droite en arrivant de Rosans. Après 1,5 km la piste se transforme en sentier et longe la crête jusqu’au sommet. Une fois au sommet il y a possibilité de continuer sur la crête. Le retour au point de départ se fait par le même chemin. 

With its typical steep rock overlooking the Oule valley, Maraysse’s hike is short but very technical. Only well trained hikers  may  take this trail which ,on the ridges, requires agility and ease in a vertical environment. At the sign "Les Garenses" take the left path which cuts a winding track, to reach the Col du Casset (1242 m). At the pass (picnic table), follow the Maraysse ridge, to the right, on a narrow and technical path. Halfway on the ridge, leave the ridge and take a cross path along  the south side: be cautious and stay focused. You’ll then reach the top of Maraysse (1567 m) with its cross. Take, on the southwest side, a very steep passage (remain attentive). At the foot of this corridor, the well-marked path continues to the west under the cliff. The path joins a grassy ledge and the ridge (1504 m). The trail goes down quickly to the right through a clearing, then it enters the beech grove (check and spot well  the  path that runs down between the trees and is difficult to see). Steep at first , the trail becomes easier  up to the pine forest (look out for the markings). At an intersection (1210 m), you’ll meet a well-marked path that you’ll follow to the right until you reach a forest track (at a bend). Follow it, on the left, downhill, to go back to your starting point.

This hike is long but easy. It starts at a shaded balcony and continues on a grassy ridge and it takes you to the top of the Valdrôme resort. The panorama over the whole  Southern Alps is magnificent. Leave the shelter of the Col d'Arron and go towards the post "Col d'Arron - 1450 m". Facing the Duffre mountain, take the left track, direction "Col des Praux". It bends to the right, and meets another path. At the crossroads, continue on the opposite path .  Further on it cuts across a track and follows the mountainside above the Oule valley. Meet the main track (post "Sous le Col des Praux" - 1250 m). Go down to the right and follow it for about 2 km towards the hut "Cabane de Pré Pourri". At the "Les Buisses" post, go up to the right above the track. Continue to the left and follow the markings to reach the hut "cabane de Pré Pourri" . At the intersection, just before the hut, follow the path on the right. Flat at the beginning, it then climbs to the ridge of the Sarcéna. Just before arriving to the ridge, leave this path and turn left onto a well-marked path. Continue on the ridge up to the cross then reach the top of the bare summit of the Duffre (1757 m). Continue on the ridge and reach the Pyramid (1734 m) (top of a ski lift) and walk down to the Pas de la Lauze (1553 m). Go down the path to the right, direction "Col d'Arron". When you get to the bottom of the track, go up to the right for reaching your starting point, at the Col d'Arron.

Ce circuit fait le tour de la crête des aiguilles petit sommet aux portes de la vallée de l’oule. Cette vallée en vaut le détour pour les amoureux de calme et de nature.  Le départ se fait au lac de Font Froide. Descendre la route jusqu’à une patte d’oie et prendre la petite route sur la droite.  Après 500 m bifurquer sur le sentier à droite. Continuer sur celui-ci jusqu’à revenir sur la piste au niveau d’un petit pont en pierre. Après avoir parcouru 400 m sur la piste tourner à droite pour prendre le sentier. Ce sentier alterne entre passage sous-bois et bordure de champs. Une fois arrivé au bout du sentier en face d’un cours d’eau, prendre immédiatement le nouveau sentier à droite et continuer sur celui-ci  pour rejoindre une piste. Sur la piste après 150 m bifurquer à nouveau sur un sentier à droite et poursuivre sur ce dernier jusqu’au bout. Au bout du sentier, au niveau de la piste, tourner à droite puis après le premier virage tourner une nouvelle fois à droite sur le sentier qui redescend. Le suivre pour revenir à la patte d’oie du point n°1 pour pouvoir ensuite retourner au lac de Font froide.

Before reaching the summit of Duffre, the trail follows  the ridges of the Sarcéna and Aup mountains. During this crossing, many viewpoints open onto the Southern Alps. It is the ideal place to picnic and enjoy the beauty of the landscapes.

Due to their good integration into the natural site of Pas des Ondes, these two water bodies do not necessarily show that they are actually artificial. Developed in the 90s to support local tourism development, the site of Pas des Ondes has since been an oasis particularly popular in the summer season. The smallest of the water bodies is intended for swimming while the largest is reserved for fishing.

The hydraulic system of the bathing water of the Pas des Ondes reconstitutes a natural scheme of operation thanks to its settling basin where circulates the water that comes from the Oule with a flow rate of 30 L / s. The purpose of this pond is to filter and capture the fine particles of silt in suspension to limit the turbidity of the water and to keep a maximum of clarity for swimming. Once past the swimming lake, the water flows into the fishing pond before returning to the Oule.

Between the banks of the river and those of the lakes, the gray heron and the Martin fisherman each have their hunting stations while the Black Milan occupies the role of the cleaner by recovering the corpses of fish and amphibians. The water bodies also host several species of remarkable birds for the region, in staging areas such as the Knights Cul-blanc and Guignette, the Northern Shoveler or Garganey and exceptionally the Osprey.

The vineyard of Châtillon-en-Diois produces wines of Appellation d'Origine Controlée (AOC). It combines 65 ha of vines making it one of the smallest appellations. The vineyard extends over the foothills of the Vercors, which protects it from the winds of the North. It produces red and rosé wines, from gamay syrah and pinot noir grapes, as well as white wine from aligoté and chardonnay grape varieties.

The Cornillon-sur-l'Oule castle is one of the most impressive testimonies of the Provencal comtal power which controlled, between the 13th and the 15th century, a set of seigniories in the Oule valley, called the "claverie de l'Oule". The dimensions of the sides of its triangular enclosure are 44, 30 and 51 meters. To the east and below the castle stood the medieval village of Cornillon which only a portion of the northern wall that meets the castle is still visible.

The fish fauna of the lake was introduced during the creation of lakes in the 90s. Among these non-endemic fish in the environment are carp, roach, tench and rainbow trout, introduced to promote recreational fishing. The most representative species is the carp but we also find the Chevesne and the Common Perch (only predator). Two fishing pontoons are set up on site, including one for people with reduced mobility.

Nestled at the foot of the most southern cliffs of the Vercors, this medieval village has preserved from its past narrow streets called "rapes" and 17 fountains with stone basins on which climb the plants of the botanical village.Capital of canton along the river Le Bez, Châtillon-en-Diois offers all shops and services, a swimming pool and many festivities during the summer season. Its vineyard, one of the highest in France, produces red, white and rosé wines with an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée.

Culminating at 1757 m, the ascent of the  Duffre requires great efforts. This is worth it, because from up there, the view  on all the surrounding heights is breathtaking (Le Bonnet Rouge, Le Risou, Maraysse, Le Rocher de Beaumont, etc.). Next to it, the Pyramid (1734 m) offers an equally impressive view. From these points, you can admire the valleys of the Oule, Rosanais, Serrois and Aiguebelle.

Located at Rosans’ north-west, Raton’s mountain offers a 360° panoramic view from it’s ridge. This mountain oriented east-west divides the Rosanais valley from L’Oule valley. It’s shape is caracteristic from the Jurassic period. The north side (ubac) is a rock slide area including a fir trees wood in the upper part and a pine trees one beneath this area. On the summit of the south side (adret) greenery is lacking a lot. There barely is some grass. Lower, an area of box trees, broom flowers and oaks grows. Torrents makes the mountain’s side craggy.

Indoors in the vaulted dining room or on the terrace, we offer simple family cuisine mixing dishes of the terroir cooked with local aromatic herbs and spices from further afield. Our menu varies following the seasons and our fancies but we favour organic and/or local produce. Everything on the menu is home-made with fresh quality products. Lunch time and afternoon : Savory and sweet snacks, ice-creams, drinks... In the evening we serve the Auberge set menu at 7.30 pm with the gîte’s guests for a friendly diner. Remember to book.

Local terroirs and seasonal produce re-invented by the chef’s inspiration will colour your plate Le Bistroquet Hôtel-Restaurant serves a traditional cuisine sprinkled with Mediterranean flavours. The chef Abdel Barakat, transform fresh local terroir produce into delicious proposals. Artisanal ravioli pasta with morel mushrooms with lemon or a walnut crumble are his signature dishes as well as tajines.

In the core of the medieval village, in a café atmosphere for the lunch and a cosy one for the evening, Véronique compose a French cuisine with local products of the market. At the heart of a mountain village, a fully restored, eco-friendly house of traditional architecture, with 2 large bedrooms, full of charms. This bed and breakfast was granted the 'Chambre d'hôtes référence®' award, a label by 'Offices de Tourisme de France®.' 3 bedrooms (2 forming a suite). Snacks available at the village.

A stop-over on the GR91 hiking path, close to many walking, cycling or horse riding trails, it offers a well-deserved rest at the heart of a preserved environment and a picturesque village. If you are a group of more than 8, bivouac is an option (please call the mairie for confirmation on 04 75 21 41 86). You can combine a sleep over with a breakfast/meal in the evening at Le Bistrot restaurant when it is open. Stop over lodging for 8 in bunk beds. Bathroom and toilets. It is the ideal location for a sporty stay or to unwind, dream under the gentle sun or star gaze at night. On site you will enjoy large 3,000m² ground, a pond, swimming pool, stream, terrace, lounge-library that can be transformed into a meeting room on request. Valdrôme in Haut-Diois is surrounded by mountains, some with lavender fields. It is a charming hilltop village at 800 m of altitude on a rocky outcrop offering one of the clearest starry sky in France. Hikers, families, groups of friends, sports clubs…everyone is welcome for a night or a longer stay at Auberge de Valdrôme. We offer 6 bedrooms accommodating 2 to 4 guests in single and/or double beds. Each bedroom is en-suite with a shower and a washbasin. There are two shared toilets on the landing.

Le Moulin Campsite welcomes you at the heart of nature, close to the source of the river Drôme. There are several sanitary blocks and showers as well as a sheltered communal open space with tables and a fridge. The campsite has a group shelter where you can meet or take shelter in bad weather. Situated at the foot of the village built on a rocky outcrop, Camping du Moulin is close to all village activities: hiking, themed hikes, mountain bike trails, archery, tennis, climbing, children's games. You choose where you pitch.

A warm welcome in a country inn nestled at the heart of a small village, close to a river and many footpaths. Stop-over lodging for up to 22 people divided into 4 little gîtes fitted with a small kitchen. A lockable room is at your disposal for bikes for instance. There is a large car park close by. We have a meeting room you can use. There is a restaurant under the accommodation units with a large outdoor terrace, ideal for half-board.
