The pond of the Bard, of a surface of 6 hectares is fed by the brook of Valouse. It was created to supply water to the wheels of the old forge. A 2 km walk allows you to go around the pond. Along its banks, you will discover typical marsh plants: cardamine of the meadows, burning lobelia or the marsh marigold but also a remarkable fauna: black woodpecker, grey heron or the diving pin. Throughout the walk, picnic areas are set up to share a meal with friends. This 1st category pond is also open to fishing and mycologists, whether beginners or experienced, will also be able to discover the diversity of mushroom species growing nearby.

The being of the Bard welcomes today on its banks the National Park Périgord Limousin: a corner of Canada in Périgord Limousin! The Park obtained its label on March 9, 1998. It includes 75 communes, extends over 1900km and two departments: the Dordogne (43 communes) and the Haute Vienne (32 communes). A natural and peaceful atmosphere for this tour of the pond, close to the highest point of the Dordogne. The territory of the Park has been the object, since medieval times, of the creation of a myriad of artificial ponds, whether for fish production, water retention or more recently for leisure activities.

The Vézelay route is one of the great pilgrimage routes used by a thousand pilgrims each year who come from the north of Europe before entering France and reaching Vézelay, one of the great departures identified for the French routes. This route enters the Périgord via La Coquille. From La Coquille to Thiviers, you will notice the "cupule stone", which is the subject of various legends. Make yourself count one if you cross someone of the country When you arrive in Thiviers, you will admire the Saint Roch cross at the roundabout. At the Tourist Office, the gourmets will visit the museum of foie gras, the others will make a pause on the benches of the pilgrim.

From the train station of La Coquille (shops and services), you will take small roads and paths to arrive on one of the vastest expanses of water of the Department and its dam: the water level of Miallet.

The Vézelay Way is a major pilgrimage route used by some 1,000 pilgrims every year from northern Europe to Vézelay, the main departure point for Compostelle. The route enters Périgord via La Coquille. From La Coquille to Thiviers, you'll notice "la pierre à cupules", the stuff of many legends. Have one counted if you meet a local. Arriving in Thiviers, admire the Saint Roch cross at the traffic circle. At the Tourist Office, gourmets visit the foie gras museum, while others take a break on the pilgrim's benches. This route is proposed by the Comité Régional de Randonnée Pédestre. Departing from a train station or TER bus stop, it allows you to join a walking or hiking itinerary and take a stroll in ecomobility!

The Demoiselles trail invites you to discover a beautiful forest with many viewpoints. The quality of the paths is appreciated (beautiful sunken paths winding through chestnut coppice). More than half the route is shaded. The village of Saint-Nicolas-Courbefy opens its doors to you with its unexpected architectural heritage, well worth a visit (beautiful little chapel and a house dating from 1832). The ancient village of Courbefy will whet the curiosity of some. Don't miss the good fountains just before you reach Courbefy. A sporty route for some, as the paths are hilly. You're in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin on the edge of the Dordogne.

After a few months of searching, we fell in love with this very elegant house, which combines the charm of an old Périgord house with the comfort of a modern home. We spent almost 2 years renovating it to make it even more comfortable. The single-hectare plot has become a veritable plant laboratory, where we have planted almost 200 different species. We strive to protect this ecosystem by maintaining the park in a responsible manner: no pesticides, late mowing to preserve natural areas, planting local and exotic non-invasive species and composting. We minimize our impact by using natural soaps and cleaning products. The house has now become Le Gîte du Parc, so that other lovers of greenery and tranquillity can also enjoy it!

The gite Domaine Vieillecour is an independent house on one level which has three bedrooms for six people. Private above ground swimming pool with chlorine open from May to September, secured by a ladder. An adjoining and private "Poolhouse" games room with billiards, ping-pong, table soccer and board games is also at your disposal.

Vieillecour, a preserved historic estate in the Périgord-Limousin Nature Park, offers a number of vacation rentals. The chalet-style Maison Villa des Etangs gite, nestled in the heart of the woods and unspoilt countryside, has three bedrooms for six people.
