This short walk, which most often takes shaded paths, will introduce you to the traditional architecture of the Haut-Agenais Périgord, dovecotes, farms, houses of character.

This walk first follows a part of the GR 636 of the "Traversée du Périgord" and of the GR 654 (the path coming from Vézelay and going to St-Jacques-de-Compostelle), before returning to the opposite ridge by a wooded path.

This walk has tracks over shaded paths, at the bottom of the valley, and it has hikes over wide open fields, offering nice views on the sites of Biron, Born, Monflanquin, etc ...

From the church Sainte Madeleine, this walk climbs into the hamlet of Montaut-le-Jeune. The church of Bournel, which dates from the 12th and 14th century, is nestled at the foot of a wooded hill. It is surmounted by an original 15th century bell tower which consists of an assembly of wooden beams on the outside of the square tower, in which the dome is situated. A chapel is dedicated to Saint-Roch and Sainte-Madeleine, patrons of pilgrims. At the top of the portal, a figure wears a large hat with shells. In addition to this place of contemplation, you will have many beautiful views and you can enjoy the traditional rural heritage, like farms and dovecotes.

During this hike, you will discover information panels, put up by the town hall, to identify the paths, specifying their names, their length, telling the story of each of them; enjoy the legends and the anecdotes ...

This short hike, starting from one of the three hamlets of Saint-Eutrope-de-Born, links St Eutrope to the woods of Demoiselle and St-Paul, traversed by the GR 636, called "Traversée du Périgord".

Hills alternate with scenic views of the landscape, on this shady walk. In the summer months you will hear the excited cries of the swimmers of Lake Saint Chavit.

Two towns, two churches, plum orchards and hazelnuts, gastronomy on the farm, castles, dovecotes and traditional houses will welcome you and make you want to come back.

Along this route you will see dove cots and the specific houses from the Dropt region, made of alternating wood and stone. The few level differences make the walk accessible to everyone.

This hike, which has many parts over roads, is more suitable for mountain bikers. It is the link between the hike in the area of Castillonnès and that of Villeréal. Its interest lies in the diversity of the landscape, from the flat areas near the river Dropt, at the start, to the wooded limestone hills in the south, near the towns of Bournel and Montaut.

Located right by Périgord and Quercy, between Bordeaux and Toulouse, Gîte du Colombier stands in a verdant setting hidden from public view. In Montaut, 7 kilometers from Villeréal, used to exist a priory of the order of Saint Benoît(currently the presbytery), the tower of which was demolished in 1865. The church of Saint Pierre, with its 13th centurynave, star-vaulting, its arched portal ornamented with six pillars, 15th century frescoes, and a dome-shaped 13th century bell-tower testify to the importance of the building in former times. In the 14th century, it was the seat of an archbishopric which comprised 91 parishes and 23 annexes.

This Romanesque church in the heart of the village of Bournel, 5 kilometers from the Bastide of Villeréal, in the northern part of the Lot et Garonne, is on the old Roman road often used by pilgrims in the 12th.century, arriving from the north. Dedicated to Saint Madeleine, the sanctuary was enlarged in the 15th. Century and has an arched stone doorway surmounted with the effigy of the Saint and a bust of a pilgrim. The star-vaulting, signed by the builders and a magnificent cupola crowned with a bell-tower adorned with lattice patterned woodwork makes this a remarkable structure.

Dating from the 15th century, this church was built by Jean Alphéry, Lord of La Tuque. The Valette church was partly restored by the Dycayron family ( who inherited the Château de la Tuque at the time) in 1901, then by the commune of Lougratte in 2003. The church welcomes weekly exhibitions in summer (June to September).

Halfway between Ferrensac and Montaut, in the north of the Lot et Garonne department, at the top of a hill from which you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view, stands the small church of Saint Martin - Transfort. Its underground passage, discovered around 1860 by the Moulin de Ferrensac family, who owned the land at the time, served as a refuge for the hamlet's families. In 1981, Franc Lasgoute, who had loved the site since his earliest childhood, set about rebuilding his church and preserving the underground passageway. Why would we leave his church in ruins? Take heart and, like our consuls of yesteryear, climb to the top of its wooded knoll, perfumed with boxwood and cypress. You'll be proud to find your church restored, and a little mystery in the shape of its underground passageway, a refuge dug into the tufa rock by our Gallic ancestors long before Julius Caesar!

In the heart of the Pays du Dropt and halfway between the bastides of Villeréal and Castillonnès, you have to visit the farm of Michaumaillé. Maïté and Jean-Marie raise their geese and ducks in freedom, they feed them with whole grain corn and they transform them, in an approved workshop. They also offer horticultural products, perennial and odorous plants.

The Born library offers a wide selection of books from the Réseauthèque of the Haut Agenais en Périgord community.

Proudly overlooking its lands, lakes and orchards of prune d'Ente, the Château de Born and its hanging gardens offers you its imposing Salle des Gardes which can accommodate up to 300 guests. The castle has two courtyards: the main courtyard with its belvedere and the guards' courtyard which will allow you to organise cocktails or outdoor dinners.

The farm raises fatty ducks, cattle for milk production. It also produces tinned duck, foie gras, confits, pâtés, duck breast, duck sausage ... Open house day : one day in july and one day in august.

Château de Born, a 12th century estate located near Villeréal, produces and processes Pruneaux d'Agen. All the products are made from the pulp of semi-cooked prunes. Come and discover a wide range of specialties: prune cream, chutneys, semi-cooked prunes, brandy ... The property offers a beautiful reception room that can be rented for all types of events and also magnificent hanging gardens.

Built in the 15th century, the church at Lugagnac was partly destroyed during the Wars of Religion. It was rebuilt in the 17th century, along with the chapels of Saint-Roch and Saint-Jean. It was sold during the Revolution, but returned to the bishopric in the 19th century. Now desanctified and owned by the commune, it underwent a complete restoration in 1990, culminating in the creation of six stained-glass windows by Olivier Debré.

The farm breeds palmipeds fat, bovine and milk produces. It also offers ducks with prunes, escalopes of ducks with fruits, foie gras with apples, tournedos of duck with ceps.

In the Lot-et-Garonne, mid-way between the bastide towns of Villeréal and Castillonnès, the Montecristo restaurant offers a varied menu adapted to all tastes: salads, pizzas and other Italian dishes, grills, regional and daily specialties.
