Facing the cemetery wall, turn left, then right at the corner. Pass to the left of the monument. Descend via a small road. At the road junction, turn right and reach an intersection. Turn left into a downhill alley and reach a crossroads of paths. Ascend right on a gravel path. A lake is on the left. Reach a road and turn left until you reach a crossroads. At the second crossroads, descend straight on a gravel path. Ascend straight on the path you took earlier. Continue straight to a road intersection. Turn right. Valley Path

The Chemin des Vallées leaves from the village of Travet, the highest commune in Réalmontais (480 meters), before descending into the magical Dadou valley. The village was once a very important place of passage, a crossroads of roads which played a big role in the past. Around the year 1000, the existence of a castle motte (fortifications) serving as a place of observation over the valley is supposed to have existed in Cayla. This is how we can enjoy today a set of remarkable viewpoints at the start of the hike, then an unsuspected natural wealth in the very discreet Dadou valley.Download the hiking sheet in PDF format Departure from the picnic area, follow the yellow marks, go approximately 30m before turning left. Go another 50m and turn right. Finally follow the signs which take us out of the village via a dirt road. On a clear day, you can admire the Pyrenees mountain range. After the pond, continue until the road, then turn right. Go about 10m and turn left onto the path which runs alongside the field. At the end turn right and follow the signs. Admire the “Lajasse” viewpoint before turning left and going down a good descent into a wood. You enter a boxwood forest covered in lichens. You then arrive in a meadow bordering the Dadou covered with flowers in spring. At the end of it, do not cross the stream and turn right. You pass near a waterfall lined with boxwood laden with lichens. The path runs alongside the stream and brings you back, after a long climb on the plateau. You pass near the Costes Auries farm, producer of sheep's milk. Take the path on the left which takes you to the road towards Le Travet then take the same route as on the way back to return to the start.

The Toulouse-Lautrec museum

The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Each stage of the production is represented, highlighting his gift for observation, his talent as a draughtsman and his quality for capturing significant detail. The route around the museum is enriched with information panels. To visit the museum is to meet the man, this native of Albi, of whom this city is so proud. The first rooms are devoted to his early works representing his family, his friends and his favourite theme: animals. Gradually the visitor is taken into the Parisian world: the brothels, especially the world of entertainment and the circus. Room after room, we follow the evolution of this unusual artist.
