The first village was built on a rocky islet between the Dadou, the Verdaussou stream and the marshes of the Jourdain, and the town was given the name ‘Granhola’, which translates from frog in Occitan, as these little creatures swarmed here. From the parchment of 961 mentioning its fortified castle to the 21st century developments at Pré Millet, Graulhet offers you over 1,000 years of history. From the Middle Ages onwards, the town's wealth has been built around the leather industry. Experience the atmosphere of leather working at the Maison des Métiers du Cuir, and why not visit a local tannery or leather goods factory?

Departure from the lake of Nabeillou, various circuits to discover the hillsides of Graulhet, distance according to your desire.

A fast, peachy loop, a stone's throw from the city, for a cardio workout after work or an introductory ride. Even if my gradients can make you smile for an experienced mountain biker, taken at his own pace, they can hurt a lot... This loop is a more accessible variant of the circuit: "le grand tour par les collines". The start is the same and the two circuits split shortly before the "métairie haute" where this track leads directly to Canguilan without having to loop around in Briatexte. We therefore enjoy the small valley of the stream of Assou at a lower cost, always following the markings. We finish calmly, after joining the D84, by descending the ridges overlooking the Notre-Dame stream. Under the Canguilan antenna, the route this time proposes to remain always to the west of the D84. The return to Graulhet is downhill.

Starting from Graulhet, this signposted circuit will take you to the heights of Graulhet. With sublime views over the surrounding countryside, the Black Mountain and the Cocagne plain. With the added bonus of the coolness of the Nabeillou and Miquelou lakes.

This beautiful and long hike, which partly follows the Agout river, offers many viewpoints on the Sidobre and the plains of Castres, passing through the medieval village of Burlats, the ruins in Gourteau and along the fountain path. Time 5.5 hours - Distance 19,5 km Romanesque architectural treasures on the floor of the valley. In Burlats, the Counts of Trencavel built a sumptuous residence away from major axes, hidden in a fold of the Agoût valley. Real Treasure, perfectly preserved Romanesque architecture which is rare for a civil building, this pavilion is named after Adelaide, a countess with violet eyes who was sung and courted by the famous troubadours Arnaud de Mareuil and Alfonso II of Aragon. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Each stage of the production is represented, highlighting his gift for observation, his talent as a draughtsman and his quality for capturing significant detail. The route around the museum is enriched with information panels. To visit the museum is to meet the man, this native of Albi, of whom this city is so proud. The first rooms are devoted to his early works representing his family, his friends and his favourite theme: animals. Gradually the visitor is taken into the Parisian world: the brothels, especially the world of entertainment and the circus. Room after room, we follow the evolution of this unusual artist.

A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. Castres Miniature Train Network, with its 150 metres of track, looks like a real railway. You have to see the rabbit that is afraid by the train, the priest ringing the bell and so many other scenes animated by you! The first objective of the network is to collect and preserve railways memories of the region. An old photos collection is available in the little museum.

The Jean Jaurès Museum presents the life and commitments of this great orator, writer, journalist and younguest member of France Parliament (26 years old), born in Castre on 1859, assassinated in Paris on 1914. The museum provides a chronological an thematic journey of discovery and compréhension of the life of Jean Jaurès. It will allow you to better understand this exceptional pacifist man with a tragic destiny.

Unusual, poetic and timeless, the multicoloured houses on the Agout are a picture postcard vision of Castres. Formerly workshops of tanners, parchment makers or weavers, these colorful houses with pastel shades are half-timbered and date from the 13th century. Their marvelous facades have since been restored several times in order to saveguard their delicate and medieval charm. Almost unreal depending on the light, they can be contemplated from the front along the river banks or from the different bridges of the city. The most difficult thing will be to capture the best moment to observe them: the evening lights, the changes of weather, the reflections on the water.
