In the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers region, here you are in the bastide town of Pellegrue founded in the 13th century on a rocky spur. The surrounding countryside has long been a resting place for migrating cranes. So much so that the town's coat of arms depicts a crane sleeping on one leg. During your walk, you will pass through woods and hillsides now planted with vines. Another circuit in the town: Circuit du Pin Franc (7kms).

From the church car park, you will take paths through the woods where you will see some palombières. Then on the heights in the middle of the vineyards, you will have an exceptional view of the valley. There is another hiking trail in the commune: Boucle locale de la Durèze (1,5km - 30 minutes).

As an extension of the Gironde circuits linking Bordeaux to Sauveterre-de-Guyenne, this route enters the Pays du Dropt. Despite changes to the location of openings, this 16th or 17th century coucoute, or rural house, has retained the original appearance of its façade. Only partly rebuilt on the side walls, the building has retained virtually all its original volume and shape. This house is one of the oldest examples in the village of a rural house in an urban setting. Part of the first floor is built of half-timbering filled with cob. The slope of the roof is typical of the 16th and 17th centuries. The distance between the roof and the neighboring house acts as a firebreak in the event of a fire in the neighborhood. The interior, which has not been remodeled, is typical of the rural architecture of the period, featuring large joists and beams, old-fashioned paving, simple Louis XIII fireplaces, a bread oven, torch niches and a firelighteru....

Carrière du Ciron - 15th and 19th centuries - Castillon limestone. In the past, almost every house had a quarry. Gentleman's cottages, manor houses, castles, churches and abbeys often had several. The abbey of Saint-Ferme required 30 to 40 quarries. The canton's limestone is exclusively asteriated limestone, known as "Castillon" limestone, which is shellier and whiter, but less fine than Frontenac limestone. The area was also home to quarries of tran, a very soft stone, and tuffeau. The last quarrymen were Mr. Neble and, from 1963 to around 1970, Raymond Martin, who lived in Monségur. They quarried building stone and supplied the DDE with road surfacing. Exhausted, the site ceased to be exploited.

Auge-Lavoir - Vers le XVIème et XVIIème siècle - Castillon limestone. One end of this tub is cut at an angle, forming a wash bench. Oxen and horses come here to drink, and the mistress of the house, her maid or a washerwoman visit every fortnight. The trough is located on one of the highest points in the village, close to the well. The well's curbstone is 0.86 meters high, and the drawing depth, calculated from the curbstone to the water, is 7.92 meters. The water reserve between the surface of the liquid and the bottom of the well is 5.63 metres, with an outside diameter of 1.71 metres.

The picnic area is located on the roadside, in the village of Auriolles, near the town hall. It is shaded and has a lovely view of the bastide town of Pellegrue. It is composed of 3 tables (total capacity 18 places).

Bridge - 14th or 15th century and 1854 - Limestone Contrary to popular belief, the Romanesque origin of this bridge is unlikely. At the time, lords crossed small streams on horseback. In the Middle Ages, crossings were made by ford or mill. When bridges were needed, particularly to bring in crops, they were usually built of wood. The Pont de Perricot links the parish of Auriolles to the Château de Boirac-Ségur, whose lord assists the village in case of danger. The link is provided by the noble house of La Cave, whose name undoubtedly refers to an underground passage linking the manor house to Château de Boirac. The bridge heads date back to the 14th or 15th century. The vault was rebuilt in 1854.

Finial finial - 18th or 19th century - Glazed ceramic. This glazed ceramic is a finial cover. It is made of wood, and is an extension of the frame's spike, crossing the roof. Before the invention of the chimney, the fire was placed in the center of the room, and the smoke vented through the ridge. An opening was made in the center of the ridge, where the gable end of the roof frame emerged, forming a kind of shelter with thatch and bars, through which the smoke could pass. With the installation of chimneys against the walls, these skylights have disappeared. However, the gable end still protrudes above the roof. The ridge finial is designed to prevent rotting.

Former rural house known as "Coucoute". 16th and 17th centuries - Wood and limestone rubble. Formerly used as a dwelling and farm, this house, along with neighboring buildings, served as a common and tool shed. The building is one of the oldest and most rustic models in Coucoute. Part of it still stands on posts and beams. Although the house has undergone a number of alterations, notably to the framing, the original posts, beams and timbers have been preserved. Part of the building was enclosed by stone walls, including a cell with two small rooms, to provide better protection for the inhabitants. Gradually, new walls replaced the cob and half-timbering. The modifications also protected the building from the rain to the west and the heat to the south.

Maison Chevalier - 19th & 20th century - Asteriated limestone. In the Middle Ages, an outpost, or ford, was set up on a site. The knight's mission was to warn the neighboring castles, built on the Despondé and Durèze valleys, of the possible arrival of an enemy troop. One of these knights went on crusade to Jerusalem with Pierre l'Ermite, along with other knights from Caumont and Rimons. The Maison Chevalier is a farmhouse in the "coucoute" style, but completely transformed in the 19th and 20th centuries. The two elm trees in front of the building, around 350 or 400 years old, have been preserved from the destruction that affected this type of tree in 1985.

The castle of Puch de Gensac is a building of the 13, 15 and 16th centuries, located in the commune of Pellegrue, including a spiral staircase, a dungeon and remarkable frameworks, as well as vestiges of fortifications and terraces.
