A beautiful alternation of rolling sections and technical parts make up this pretty loop in the heart of the countryside surrounding the village of Roannes-Saint-Mary. The route is very shaded throughout and allows you, from the village centre, to cross several hamlets with a rich and typical built heritage of the region. There are several viewpoints over the Mounts of Cantal on this very playful route, which is aimed at riders looking for a circuit of moderate difficulty.

Hiking trail "La Salvetat". This circuit is situated at 750 m altitude on a wooded, semi-shaded plateau and offers a remarkable view. It is easy and has very little tarmac. You will walk along a coniferous wood and find a deciduous forest (beech, oak, birch). Halfway along the route, you will see the village of La Salvetat, with its restored houses, its church and its Commandery of the Order of Malta. In the keystone, you will notice the eight-pointed Cross of Malta. Hiking trail "Le Puy Saint-Laurent". A pretty village of granite houses with slate roofs, Saint-Mamet has a 12th and 14th century Gothic church with an 18th century altarpiece. With its proximity to Aurillac, Roannes-Saint-Mary is one of Cantal's most dynamic demographics. More than a thousand people now live here, but they are spread across the many hamlets that make up the commune.

The history of Teissières-lès-Bouliès is above all a history of stone and water. Water first, because there was a time not so long ago when the Teissières brand was one of the queens of Auvergne waters.

La Capelotte is a small religious building topped by a bell-gable which probably dates from before the Wars of Religion, just like its “twin”, the Chapel of St. Lawrence in Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat.

The church of Saint-Jean-la-Salvetat, rebuilt in the 12th century, is part of a former Commandery of the Knights of Malta. Two chapels were added to the original building, a simple rectangle. The church has a cross-vaulted choir and a bell gable rebuilt in the 17th century. On the keystone of the chancel is the famous eight-pointed cross of their order, the Maltese cross. Inside the building, there are magnificent stained glass windows recalling the glorious past and the charitable side of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. In addition to the stained glass windows, there is also a treasure trove of gold and silverware, including a beautiful chalice donated by Napoleon III in 1863.

Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat, the second-largest commune in the Châtaigneraie Cantalienne, is its administrative centre. A large village with a wide range of shops and services, Saint-Mamet offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Mounts of Cantal.

There are beautiful barns, chicken coops and wells. As is typical to the region, there is a mixture of flat and pointed roofs, with some having a strong taste for the pyramid shape. In the 19th century, the beautiful village of Bénaguet was hidden in groves of walnut, apple and other fruit trees and sheltered from the northerly winds by the edge of the plain, which is cut off almost sheer at the entrance to the village...
