From the Brasc plateau to the banks of the Tarn river, a breathtaking hike that winds through the pines and connects the perched village with a small chapel below.From the cross situated on the northeast side of the church square, head towards Réquista. After 50m you reach a road junction, where you turn to the right. After approximately 500 m you will reach a pine wood, take a hairpin bend to the right; then follow an ancient roadway for about 3 km towards the Mas de Gély.Once above the Mas de Gély, take the track leading through woodland, then onto a path that runs through some trees.  After 100 m take the path to the left which becomes a meandering slope down to Guiraldou, Le Roc; From here follow the D902 to the right.Once you’ve reached Saint-Dalmazi, you will see some houses situated up ahead. Between the houses to your right there is a steep passage which will take you up to Sénils where you then join a narrow road which joins the D552. Follow this road to the right up to the village of Brasc.                       

This hike will take you from the Sérénac plateau to the Tarn valley. It forms a loop around the Méridienne verte. A few heritage features mark out its route. t the start, on your right, you can see the Albigensian plain in the distance. During your walk, you will cross agricultural areas, oak and chestnut woods. In Pécotte, a small place in the commune where two farms are located for market gardening, you will see above all the "bac de Pécotte". It was one of the links between the two banks of the Tarn. It was put into service in 1880. Its activity ceased in 1960. Every year, on the third weekend of July, a festival is organised around this ferry. You will then go along the Tarn before reaching the high plateau where you can discover beautiful landscapes towards Alban, Assac, Valence d'Albigeois...

From Coupiac medieval castle to the charming small valleys surrounding the village, this trail offers an opportunity to enjoy a short getaway in a haven of freshness, walking to the quiet splashing of a brook.From the carpark of the Post Office square, walk to the entrance of the castle. Once you are in front of the entrance, walk down the street to the right.Once you’ve reached the square in the town centre, walk straight ahead up to the cross. Cross the street and go up the stairs.At the top of the stairs, turn to the left then to the right by a hairpin bend. Follow the rising path up to the road, then turn left.Just by the water tower, turn left. Follow the road up to the hairpin bend, then take a path on the left towards Massillergues. Follow the path up to the chapel.Once you’ve reached the chapel, retrace your steps back to the path you took on the way there for 160 m, then leave it and take to the right a descending trail.Walk along the brook until Coupiac.

These very old country lanes will lead you, alongside fields and beech forests, throughout the Pays des Sept Vallons countryside with the babbling of brooks and waterfalls for companion.From the Circuit Information point, take the R. Bel avenue towards Montclar. Just outside the village, turn left and head for the Masnaut outdoor activities centre. Walk along the side of the lake up to the car park, then as you approach the gateway, walk beside the brook on its right bank. Where path and brook come together (don’t forget waterproof shoes in case of rainy weather) keep going ahead, then leave the path to turn onto a trail. At the junction take the left trail towards the hamlet of La Vaysse where you can enjoy the beautiful waterfall.As you walk through the hamlet, pay attention to the marking so as not to miss a large stone Maltese cross. Once you reach it, walk to the right, which takes you towards the plateau. Walk across the road that gives access to la Calmette and keep going up to a road running alongside a wood of fir trees and beeches. Walk to the left, then turn left again along a fence to reach a Maltese cross where you cross the D194 to take the road towards Moussac.  From there, you can see the hamlet of Vérouls.500 m before the hamlet of Moussac, notice a junction with a cross. Turn to the left on a path and make your way through the fields. Walk along the edge of the wood and follow a path to the right across the woodland.Once you are deep inside the woods take the left hand trail going down to Coustou Le Haut where you will find an enclosed field. Follow the track for 50 m then take the left hand path through the undergrowth.     

This undulating trail allows you to discover ancient buildings made of ocher sandstone extracted and carved from quarries nearby Coupiac. From the trail network information point, walk around the castle to the right and when you are in front of the steps of the castle take the road to St Exupère for 10 m and climb the steps leading up between two houses. Walk across the road and carry on along a sunken path on the opposite side of the road, walk across another road on your right until you reach Cabressier on the tarmac track.Walk across the farm and follow the path that leads to Mazern, then head along the road for 200 m. Turn left towards Regord and keep to the path that follows the contour line.Before the path goes downhill turn on the hairpin bend towards St Laurent. Once you’ve reached this hamlet, turn to your left and follow the road up to la Cloutarié farm. Before the farm, turn right onto the path that leads to the farm and walk on the path to your left down to the old chapel of La Mole where you will see a Templar cross.At the junction, carry straight on for 20 m, take the left hand trail for 800 m then follow the edge of the field on your left that leads down towards the road. Walk to your right towards a place called la Ventadouyre.About 30 m after la Ventadouyre take a left hand dirt road that makes a sharp bend and carry straight on along a sunken path which goes through a wood down into the valley. Cross the bridge over the Mousse and walk back to the village

Situated at the confluence of the Rance and Tarn rivers, La Bastide-Solages is a village between hills and valleys within the "Pays des Sept Vallons" (land of the seven valleys). This hike starts from the intersection in the village where you take the D555 towards Plaisance for 300 m up to the Lesparro road. Take the left hand dirt road and when you reach the top of a little slope at a crossroads you will see a stone cross, where you take the track to your right. This path goes down to where it joins up again with the D555. Follow the road on your left towards St Sernin for approximately 400m. After the fork with a sign-post indicating the road to Bousquet, take the dirt track to your right that winds its way down a steep slope to the river. As you approach the bank of the river Rance, turn to your right along a track overlooking the river, and walk past the remains of an ancient shelter built in a rock excavation. The path then joins up with the riverbank and stays parallel for about 1 km. When the La Bastide houses come into view, take the right hand path that leads into the hamlet, walk through the hamlet and follow the road uphill for 150 m. Be careful not to miss the small path on your left that joins up with the road to Vernière. Follow that road up to the Vernière farm.4Walk around the farm to the right and after about 50 m leave the tarmac road and follow a dirt road on your right for approximately 80 m, then turn left. This path will rise gently leading you to a nearby statue of the Virgin Mary. Enjoy a superb view over the confluence of the Rance and the Tarn rivers and over the Tarn valley. To return to Solages, walk along the road up to the village.

Shopping in a listed site in the heart of the historic center! The Albi market is held in a unique setting, a Baltard-style pavilion built in 1903. More than a century old, it's a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Twenty or so stores open their doors, offering authentic, quality products. Market gardeners, greengrocers, caterers, fishmongers, pork butchers, cheese-makers, pastry-makers... It's even possible to eat under the covered market, with a choice of catering outlets.

A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. Various departures from the banks of the Tarn between 11:00am and 6:00pm. ‘L’Hirondelle’ and ‘Les Copains d’abord’, scows with a traditional flat bottom, cruise along the Tarn and offer passengers unexpected panoramas of Albi’s heritage and a tranquil atmosphere on the Tarn. Rio Loco, is an electric scow that has joined the fleet, with a capacity of 75 people. A commentary completes the experience. Embark on the banks of the Tarn, below the Berbie Palace and Pont-Vieux. The highest point on the Ségala plateaux, located near Valdéries (497 m). The mountain is overlooked by the ruins of the 13th century church of Saint Barthélémy. Along the road from Valdériès to Valence d'Albigeois, the dolmen of Gouty, classified as a Historic Monument, is worth seeing.

The Sérénac forest is equipped to receive the public and to discover the forest ecosystem (interpretation and hiking trails, permanent orienteering course, mountain bike course, picnic areas). La forêt de Sérénac, forêt de chênes, de châtaigniers, de hêtres de charmes, d'alisiers, et quelques résineux de 200 ha à une vingtaine de kilomètres à l'est d'Albi, était autrefois exploitée par le couvent de Saint-Louis-du-Désert. Elle devint ensuite forêt de production pour les mines de charbon et la verrerie de Carmaux. Aujourd'hui réhabilitée, elle est traversée de nombreux sentiers de randonnées et sentiers de découverte au départ de la Maison de la forêt.

Located upstream from Albi, 38 km away in the Tarn valley, the village of Trébas-les-Bains has been a GREEN STATION since 2006, for its natural setting rich in preserved flora and fauna, and PAVILLON BLEU since 2010, an eco-label of quality for its supervised white-water bathing in July and August. Leisure centre with many activities: book box, hiking, tennis, handball, basketball, petanque, football, fishing, nature discovery trail... Other paid activities on site: canoeing and paddle, inflatable games with the Oasis de Trébas. Supervised swimming from 2.30 pm to 7 pm every day in July and August.

The history of this village is intertwined with that of the old Episcopalian castle, which was formerly the Bishop of Vabres summer palace. The name of the village was first made mention of in an official document dating back to 862 AD.During the 12th century, continual invasions, acts of banditry and battles between feudal lords created a tremendous insecurity. This led to the building of battlements to improve the defensive system and providea safe haven to the neighbouring people during periods of turmoil. The castle and the fortified village date back to the time of the Vabres bishops who made the village their summer residence and a safe refuge.When the religious wars were over and peace restored, the protective wall lost its primary function and so today the façade of the castle has windows inserted along its length. The fortified gates were also demolished to allow the passage of carts or to expand the neighbouring houses. The villagestreet, footpath and house pattern has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages, and the beautiful 15th century facades and windowscan still be seen in some streets today. The old church part of the battlements had its vault lowered in 1635 to provide housing to the schoolmaster and guards. In 1650 repair works were started by the Consuls.

This sanctuary which was founded by Alix de Castelnau has existed since at least the 15th century, when it was called Ouradou (oratory). This chapel was refurbished in 1730 and during the 19th century, the stairway door of the castle was then brought back into use.

Visit the animal park which is home to several species in threat of extinction. A great day out for children and adults! Children can gambol on the shaded route and pet the animals and play in the playground.

Abbot Hermet was a renowned archeologist. He was born in Calmels in 1856, and died in Rodez in 1939. He became interested in carved standing stones when he first saw them at the age of ten, and was immediately keen to learn all that he could about them. He published his first book on the subject, covering six discoveries in 1892. This led to his taking up formal training in the scientific method of archeology, and in 1898, he gave these statues their official classification of “carved standing stones”. In 1901 he became the first to undertake a thorough investigation of the Graufesenque Gallo-Roman site in Millau.

This statue displays all of the feminine features: breasts are depicted either side of the Y shaped pendant,legs are set apart and the hair is tied back and depicted by a stripe down the back from the top of the head to the belt. The eyes are wide open set either side of the nose above tattooed   cheeks represented by four lines.

Restaurant and animals. Speciality : spit-roasts. The Bellevue animal farm is located in the middle of the countryside, in Salles-sur-Cérou. In the restaurant of the Bellevue farm, in a rural setting, the chefs invite you to taste their famous pig on a spit. L'Auberge de Mourjou, with its restaurant and guest rooms, has been open since 18 March 2024. Daily menu (€19,90) from Monday 12pm to Friday 2pm. The chef's menu consists of a choice of two starters, a choice of two main courses and a choice of two desserts. The menu changes every 2 weeks according to the season and her inspiration. You can also make the most of our shaded terrace in fine weather.

Les Rougemonts holiday cottage, situated in the oldest farm building on the site, dates from 1861 (90m²). It is the ideal place to stay in Ségala, Tarn for a wonderful holiday with family or friends, as it accommodates 4 to 5 people (two bedrooms). Imagine the activity in the living room a few decades ago, when you see the original cement tiles. But for your comfort, you'll find all the contemporary equipment you need to cook to your heart's content and a cosy living room to relax in. On the night side, there's a bedroom with blue/green tones and the morning sun to gently wake you up. The other bedroom, with its linen drapes, is more spacious and can accommodate 3 people.
