Mountain bike route "The Roannes”. The paper version of the hiking map is available from our Information Points for €0.50. A beautiful alternation of rolling sections and technical parts make up this pretty loop in the heart of the countryside surrounding the village of Roannes-Saint-Mary. The route is very shaded throughout and allows you, from the village centre, to cross several hamlets with a rich and typical built heritage of the region. There are several viewpoints over the Mounts of Cantal on this very playful route, which is aimed at riders looking for a circuit of moderate difficulty.

Hiking trail "La Salvetat". This circuit is situated at 750 m altitude on a wooded, semi-shaded plateau and offers a remarkable view. It is easy and has very little tarmac. You will walk along a coniferous wood and find a deciduous forest (beech, oak, birch). Halfway along the route, you will see the village of La Salvetat, with its restored houses, its church and its Commandery of the Order of Malta. In the keystone, you will notice the eight-pointed Cross of Malta. Hiking trail "Le Pénard". Saint-Mamet is a pretty, renovated village of granite houses with slate roofs. It has a 12th and 14th century Gothic church with an 18th century altarpiece. Hiking trail "Le Puy Saint-Laurent". A pretty village of granite houses with slate roofs, Saint-Mamet has a 12th and 14th century Gothic church with an 18th century altarpiece. This easy route is relatively shaded. At point 1, if you turn left (off the route), you can go to Puy Saint-Laurent (771 m): chapel and circular panorama over the Aurillac basin, the Mounts of Cantal, Lake Saint-Étienne-Cantalès and the neighbouring departments (toposcope). Hiking trail "Le Rêtre". From the very heart of the village of Saint-Mamet and all along this path, you will notice the architecture of the houses in the villages you pass through and the beautiful coniferous and deciduous forests (beech, oak, birch and chestnut trees). Between the forest of Fargues and Vaurs: general view of the commune of Vitrac. You will pass near the pond of Vic, a green setting near the town. This pleasant route, always on unpaved paths, crosses the Fontsalade stream from its source to its confluence with the Maurs near the highlight of the route: the mineral fountain of Fontsalade (from the Occitan word for "salty fountain"). Hiking trail "of the beautiful views”. Omps is a small medieval village grouped around its 12th century church in which one can admire a beautiful 16th century pietà. This circular village has typical old houses as well as a century-old fountain. At the junction of Broize, take the direction of Marmanhac. Take the direction of St Cirgues de Jordanne to reach the Puy Mary by the Jordanne Valley. You may wonder if the route des crêtes is not too narrow and dizzying! It overhangs the Jordanne Valley on all its length but the road remains wide enough to cross with another vehicle even if it is a truck or a tractor! So no stress and have a good ride!

“La Plantelière” is an excellent place to explore flora and fauna and it covers an area of 7Ha (17.3 acre), on the doorsteps of Aurillac. The site consists of several spaces with a wide variety of trees: maples, conifers, fruit trees, ash trees, willows, thuja, beeches… Explore its themed gardens, wildflower meadows, hedge maze, vegetable garden, orchards, educational pond... Here, maintenance and gardening are carried out without pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers.
