Discover the Marian city of Pontmain, a major pilgrimage site in the west of France since the apparition of Mary in 1871. From the gîte, escape to Mont Saint Michel, just an hour and 15 minutes away by car. Professional stay: 5 people maximum (5 beds and 3 bedrooms) - Cleaning compulsory 1 per stay from 1 to 14 nights. It is as lively as a village centre on market day. You enter via a narrow canal, after leaving the Banc du Grand Vey natural site to your starboard side. Take to your binoculars! A seal colony has taken up residence there. Then turn round and set your binoculars eastwards - the rocky promontory you can see around 2 miles away is Pointe du Hoc. Grandcamp is a stopover where fishing rimes with history and nature. As you enter, you are welcomed by a line of placid seagulls, poised on the jetty. Here, the atmosphere is one of an active yet approachable harbour town.

The commune of Grandcamp-Maisy, located in the west of Calvados, was known as Grandcamp-les-Bains at the time of the first seaside resorts. Today the village is home to a fishing port, a marina and a beach, part of which is still accessible even at high tide. It is a place that also has the privilege of being a great fishing spot on foot, which is a good way to keep the children busy! The speciality of the area is fishing for "bouquet" (a kind of big grey shrimp). Practical information : Car parks are located near the beach. During the months of July and August, surveillance is provided by the Sauveteurs en Mer, present 7 days a week. Shower and toilet on site. A children's playground is accessible from the beach.

Forgotten for the past 60 years, this German artillery battery was nevertheless an integral part of a military zone. It opened fire on the liberating troops, covering the beaches of Utah and Omaha. The final assault by the 5th and 2nd US Rangers, on the 9th of June 1944, lasted 5 long hours. Today, you can still visit around 2 miles of trenches, tunnels, emplacements for six 155m guns and other subterranean galleries and constructions.

Not to be missed! At 10am every Sunday, a colourful character by the name of Luc Le Gleuher offers you a guided tour of ‘WN 89’, a former German bunker located in Géfosse-Fontenay. You can also discover the whole story of this element that was part of the Atlantic Wall, today totally intact. Free tour with commentary. From growing to maturing, Eric will reveal all the secrets of the oyster farming cycle, taking you to the foreshore and then to one of the oyster workshops. There, you'll learn the subtle art of opening oysters and, to reward you for all your efforts, you'll be able to taste them. Bring a windbreaker and waterproof shoes. This activity can be adapted for the visually impaired on request. Visits take place with the following oyster farmers: André Gilles Taillepied, Alain Pourtier, Eric Taillepied and EURL Perron.

Continuing the family farming tradition, Simon Lemarie has been developing since 2015 a production of ciders and spirits made with the apples of his orchards. The farm is entirely managed in Organic Agriculture and is composed of 4 Hectares of thirty year old trees and 8 Hectares of trees planted since 2015, that is to say a total of 5000 trees! The apples used to make the ciders are all old and local varieties. The flagship product of the range is the Cidricchus Original, a cider with a balance between brut and demi-sec.

Captured on the morning of the 6th of June 1944 by Colonel Rudder's Rangers, the site was also one of key features of the German defensive fortifications. The Musée de la RN13 is a museum created by a genuine enthusiast. It comprises an exhibition area with over 70 vehicles (cars, motorcycles, motorised cycles, bicycles), 10,000 miniatures and 150 enamelled advertising panels dating from 1920 to the 1980s.
