Forgotten for the past 60 years, this German artillery battery was nevertheless an integral part of a military zone. It opened fire on the liberating troops, covering the beaches of Utah and Omaha. The final assault by the 5th and 2nd US Rangers, on the 9th of June 1944, lasted 5 long hours. Today, you can still visit around 2 miles of trenches, tunnels, emplacements for six 155m guns and other subterranean galleries and constructions.

The commune of Grandcamp-Maisy, located in the west of Calvados, was known as Grandcamp-les-Bains at the time of the first seaside resorts. Today the village is home to a fishing port, a marina and a beach, part of which is still accessible even at high tide. It is a place that also has the privilege of being a great fishing spot on foot, which is a good way to keep the children busy! Continuing the family farming tradition, Simon Lemarie has been developing since 2015 a production of ciders and spirits made with the apples of his orchards. The farm is entirely managed in Organic Agriculture and is composed of 4 Hectares of thirty year old trees and 8 Hectares of trees planted since 2015, that is to say a total of 5000 trees!
