Lac de Bairon

It is one of the jewels of the Argonne! This 120-hectare lake, nestled in a green valley, consists of an old pond and its reed bed, which constitute a nature reserve, and a water reservoir suitable for water sports activities. THE BEACH Composed of sand, it is next to several playgrounds, shaded picnic tables and barbecues. Swimming is supervised from mid-June to the end of August. THE LEISURE CENTRETry rowing, take a canoe trip, relax on a pedal boat... Many activities are available through introductory sessions or equipment rental. For individuals and groups, the leisure centre also offers inflatable structures and activities such as archery or mini-kart, with qualified instructors. Sports and cultural stays are offered in July-August (3 to 10 days with accommodation in tents). Open on weekends from May 8, and every day from July 6 to August 30. SAILINGThe Bairon Nautic Club offers individual or group lessons all year round. In July and August, thematic courses "sports, nature and discovery" are offered from the age of 6. THE OLD POND DISCOVERY TRAIL The area is also home to frogs, fish, bats, dragonflies, butterflies and remarkable snakes. Starting from the intermediate dike that separates lake and pond, this 4.5 km (easy) hiking route will take you to Louvergny, whose small heritage is worth a detour and where the water stream of Bairon feeds several bodies of water.
