Miolles, a charming little village, situated at the gateway to the Aveyron, is renowned for its fruit production. This village, set in the valley, offers a microclimate that is favourable to the development of orchards. The cultivation of orchards in Miolles is ancient but a revival of fruit trees planted "in orchard" at the beginning of the 20th century took place thanks to Mr Rabaud. This activity brought new wealth to this mountain region. The fruit was sold in Lacaune with a donkey and on the way back, the slate was brought back for the roofs. This sector is also steeped in history, particularly in terms of archaeology. Indeed, in 1993 and 1994, two menhir statues were discovered in this commune, at a place called Le Terral. They were named: Terral 1 and Terral 2. On this occasion, the On this occasion, the town hall opened a space to present these two sculptures in very good condition but very different in style and design.

This hike that leads you from the ridges of Martrin to the Gos valley and throughout a landscape of low rolling hills displays a rich vernacular heritage which is overlooked by the Cayla wine-coloured Romanesque church.From the village square, pass behind the cross and move forward into the lane that runs between two houses. Above the stadium, head your way towards the housing estate. On the height of the village, turn to your left and follow the track on the left hand side that runs along the crest of the ridge until you reach the road connecting Coupiac to Martrin.On reaching the Croix de l’Amandier intersection, carry straight on ahead walking along a tarmac road, then turn right along a dirt trail. At the bottom of the trail take the walled path to your left that goes towards Monteillet.Walk across the hamlet and turn right by the cross, take the path lined with box trees.  Join the road nearby the St Exupéry church and turn left towards the bridge.During low-flow periods of the stream, rather than walking over the bridge, follow the road for 350 m and turn right towards Pouillé. Walk through the hamlet (ancient mill) and follow the trail for just over 1 km. Tread along the brook that marks the edge of the meadow, and then ford the brook and walk back to the D 106.Alternative route suitable during high-flow periods or if you are worried about having your feet wet: cross the bridge and follow the road to your left.Go along the road to your left then towards the village of Le Cayla and follow the small lanes towards the church, then turn left and take to the right hand the tarmac road. Follow the dirt path to the left and walk across the brook. Further on, walk across another “riu” (brook) just before a small path to the right that takes you up to the fields.  Take the first left turn and then the next left immediately after that and walk along past the Livignac farm, then take the left hand path along the side of the sheepfold. As you make your way out of the woodland, head along a field and then join the dirt path to your left that brings you to a tarmac road.Just before a large chestnut tree, fork to the right towards Martrin and follow the signboard “La Parenque”: Here you pass behind a building and go back to Martrin by a steep-sided path. Cross the municipal road to get back to the village.

The crest walking trail that overlooks the ancient Hospitaller Commandery in Martrin provides a spectacular panoramic view over the Grands Causses area and the hills of the Albi region.In the Martrin village square, head your way towards the Grande Croix which is situated in the upper part of the village in the direction of Coupiac, then pass between the two houses and carry on above the stadium. Take to the left towards the plateau overlooking the village.Once you have reached the crest walking trail, take to the right towards La Bertarié. When the weather is fine, the site offers a breathtaking scenery. At the tarred track, take right for a few metres and at the intersection with the dirt road, turn to the left. You will then catch sight, further down to the right of the roof of the St Clément sanctuary fountain covered with old slatestones. The path then runs down to the bottom of the valley before rising uphill towards la Frayssinette.When leaving the farm, walk above the stable and follow to the left the dirt road that winds its way up to the woodland below the Mas de Clary and the Glauzure. The hamlet of Jouvayrac will soon be within your sight.In the hamlet, take to the left the path that slopes down towards the brook. The path rises throughout a beautiful chestnut grove that was in former times owned by the Martrin Commandery.

In the western edge of Aveyron, this rising slope that runs to the hamlet of Saint-Laurent makes its way across a landscape mainly covered by woodland and provides you with a stunning panorama over the village of Plaisance.               Walk to the village centre and turn to the right on road D106 in the direction of Fon DeMas, at the exit of the village turn to the left towards Lamayou. Approximately 30 m further, leave the road and take to the left a dirt road. Starting from the altitude of 250 m in Plaisance, you will reach 570 m in St-Laurent heading your way along a partly shady ascending slope. The path follows the road for approximately 150 m then turns to the right on a track towards la Borie.From this place, walk away from the path a few moments and enjoy the scenic view over Plaisance. Then retrace your steps back to the trail that runs uphill to a place called Lamayous: from this location, head towards Saint-Laurent by a sunken path. Turn to the right at the entrance of the hamlet, then turn left on the road and 140 m further, take to the right a track that goes down towards Camboussières. A short distance before this hamlet, do not take the path on the right that leads to Coupiac. Walk across Camboussières and le Mazet. 50 m further the exit of le Mazet do not miss the track on the right which runs through la Pilande Haute. Keep walking downhill to join the D33 road, which links Coupiac to Plaisance.Take this road towards Plaisance up to Mialet. After the housing estate, turn to the left and walk a rising slope up to the last house. 100 m further, take to the right a path that runs down across woodland towards Plaisance.At the village turn to the right and carry on towards Curevalle to reach the car park.

Throughout chestnut groves and hillsides, get closer to the culminating point of the municipality of Plaisance and enjoy the scenic view over the Rance and the Gos valleys and the Lacaune mounts, vast greenery that stretches as far as the eye can see.To get to the trailhead, reach the village centre and turn to the right on road D106 towards Fon Del Mas for 1 km.The loop starts on the right side of a curve, 250 m after the bridge. The gently ascending path makes its way throughout woodlands on a rather wide trail. As it narrows and still runs in the undergrowth, it follows the contour line and opens onto a meadow. After you’ve closed the fences, walk across the field and join a broader path that runs down and passes close to the hamlet of le Rieu before going up towards Frayssines.Walk across the hamlet and follow the road for approximately 740 m towards le Massebirot. In the last bend before this hamlet, turn right and cross the undergrowth.In the hamlet of la Rouquette, take the road that goes downhill to the left. 700 m further, turn right just before an abandoned hut. The path goes up across fields. Carry on your way on a level path for 800 m until the junction with a road. Take the road to the left up the Vergnerette farm.Just before you get to the farm, turn to the left and walk down across a chestnut grove. After 400 m, leave the wide trail and take to the right a narrow footpath that leads to the hamlet of La Fon Del Mas.In La Fon Del Mas, take to the left and walk out the hamlet. Leave the first road on the left, walk out of the tarmac and take the left track that leads back to the starting point, the Gos bend.

On the borders of the Monts d'Alban and the Monts de Lacaune, this commune has its head in the stars! The sunsets here are of a beauty that only a cloudless night can match... Its panoramic views are far-reaching, particularly at the Montagnarde, the summit of our sector at 802 m, where the entire Pyrenean chain can often be seen. Until the 1960s, with the "petit Séminaire", Massals was a "high place" of education whose reputation was felt far beyond the limits of the Department. Since 2001, this fine architectural building, consisting of a 15th century castle, a 19th century Gothic chapel and a cloister, has been the property of the Communauté de Communes des Monts d'Alban et du Villefranchois. Today, the chapel has been converted into a small auditorium to host cultural events such as choirs and musical performances.

Like a walk through the fields, this calm and peaceful hiking loop takes place in an agricultural landscape which is composed of small valleys and gentle slopes and is at the same time a biodiversity pool and the setting of an appealing built heritage.When leaving the community hall (Hiking Information Point), take the communal road to your right towards the Château for 100 m. Fork to the left onto a stone pathway that rises gently up the hill, before slopping down. Leave an ascending path to your left and ford a small brook.Start walking up a gentle rise (leaving two tracks to your right), until you reach the hamlet of Brugas. Immediately after the houses, take the first path to your right. This path leads a few meters down to a left hand track that runs parallel to La gravière stream.Carry on along the track that runs up the valley. Continue straight on passing a good number of tracks on either side. Once you’ve forded the brook, a short but steep slope brings you up below the Castagnole farm. Stay below the level of the farm and fork to the left to make your way down to the same brook and ford it once again. Carry on straight ahead and leave a path to your left. A rather long and shady slope leads you for more than 1 km up to the Gardette road.At the junction with the tarmacked road, walk to the right for 700 m until you reach the D90 road. Head left towards St Juéry up to the football pitch (this part is connected with the Rebourguil loop circuit n°42). Walk along the edge of the pitch towards the “Cuns, Terme, Joncas…” for 800 m.As you arrive to the fork, follow the signboard indicating Les Blanquets. 200 m further on, follow the dirt track to your left which runs along the ridge line. This track joins up with a track running through the undergrowth on a slope down to the left into the Gos valley towards the Curvélarié farm. Walk through the farm and then go up the hill via the St Juéry road.

This undulating trail allows you to discover ancient buildings made of ocher sandstone extracted and carved from quarries nearby Coupiac. From the trail network information point, walk around the castle to the right and when you are in front of the steps of the castle take the road to St Exupère for 10 m and climb the steps leading up between two houses. Walk across the road and carry on along a sunken path on the opposite side of the road, walk across another road on your right until you reach Cabressier on the tarmac track.Walk across the farm and follow the path that leads to Mazern, then head along the road for 200 m. Turn left towards Regord and keep to the path that follows the contour line.Before the path goes downhill turn on the hairpin bend towards St Laurent. Once you’ve reached this hamlet, turn to your left and follow the road up to la Cloutarié farm. Before the farm, turn right onto the path that leads to the farm and walk on the path to your left down to the old chapel of La Mole where you will see a Templar cross.At the junction, carry straight on for 20 m, take the left hand trail for 800 m then follow the edge of the field on your left that leads down towards the road. Walk to your right towards a place called la Ventadouyre.About 30 m after la Ventadouyre take a left hand dirt road that makes a sharp bend and carry straight on along a sunken path which goes through a wood down into the valley. Cross the bridge over the Mousse and walk back to the village

These very old country lanes will lead you, alongside fields and beech forests, throughout the Pays des Sept Vallons countryside with the babbling of brooks and waterfalls for companion.From the Circuit Information point, take the R. Bel avenue towards Montclar. Just outside the village, turn left and head for the Masnaut outdoor activities centre. Walk along the side of the lake up to the car park, then as you approach the gateway, walk beside the brook on its right bank. Where path and brook come together (don’t forget waterproof shoes in case of rainy weather) keep going ahead, then leave the path to turn onto a trail. At the junction take the left trail towards the hamlet of La Vaysse where you can enjoy the beautiful waterfall.As you walk through the hamlet, pay attention to the marking so as not to miss a large stone Maltese cross. Once you reach it, walk to the right, which takes you towards the plateau. Walk across the road that gives access to la Calmette and keep going up to a road running alongside a wood of fir trees and beeches. Walk to the left, then turn left again along a fence to reach a Maltese cross where you cross the D194 to take the road towards Moussac.  From there, you can see the hamlet of Vérouls.500 m before the hamlet of Moussac, notice a junction with a cross. Turn to the left on a path and make your way through the fields. Walk along the edge of the wood and follow a path to the right across the woodland.Once you are deep inside the woods take the left hand trail going down to Coustou Le Haut where you will find an enclosed field. Follow the track for 50 m then take the left hand path through the undergrowth.     

From Coupiac medieval castle to the charming small valleys surrounding the village, this trail offers an opportunity to enjoy a short getaway in a haven of freshness, walking to the quiet splashing of a brook.From the carpark of the Post Office square, walk to the entrance of the castle. Once you are in front of the entrance, walk down the street to the right.Once you’ve reached the square in the town centre, walk straight ahead up to the cross. Cross the street and go up the stairs.At the top of the stairs, turn to the left then to the right by a hairpin bend. Follow the rising path up to the road, then turn left.Just by the water tower, turn left. Follow the road up to the hairpin bend, then take a path on the left towards Massillergues. Follow the path up to the chapel.Once you’ve reached the chapel, retrace your steps back to the path you took on the way there for 160 m, then leave it and take to the right a descending trail.Walk along the brook until Coupiac.

More than a century old, it's a popular meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Twenty or so stores open their doors, offering authentic, quality products. The Toulouse-Lautrec museum is located in one of the most beautiful corners of Albi: the Berbie Palace. The Palace is one of the Episcopal City’s major sites with World Heritage status. The museum is recognised internationally for the works of this artist from Albi. TOULOUSE-LAUTREC, A UNIQUE COLLECTION IN THE WORLD The world’s most important public collection of the works of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, including 31 posters by the lithograph painter, is to be found in Albi. There are also no fewer than 219 paintings, 563 drawings and 183 lithographs displayed in the museum. Early works, major portraits, paintings of brothels, prints from the world of entertainment, advertisements and later works are presented there, giving this museum an exceptional collection. Each stage of the production is represented, highlighting his gift for observation, his talent as a draughtsman and his quality for capturing significant detail. The route around the museum is enriched with information panels. To visit the museum is to meet the man, this native of Albi, of whom this city is so proud. The first rooms are devoted to his early works representing his family, his friends and his favourite theme: animals. A trip on the River Tarn aboard a traditional flat-bottomed boat. Various departures from the banks of the Tarn between 11:00am and 6:00pm. ‘L’Hirondelle’ and ‘Les Copains d’abord’, scows with a traditional flat bottom, cruise along the Tarn and offer passengers unexpected panoramas of Albi’s heritage and a tranquil atmosphere on the Tarn. Rio Loco, is an electric scow that has joined the fleet, with a capacity of 75 people. A commentary completes the experience. Embark on the banks of the Tarn, below the Berbie Palace and Pont-Vieux. The Castle is said to date from the second half of 16th century a time when Wars of Religion were raging throughout the region. The fortress comprises a rectangular-shaped main building with corners supported by round towers that stand out from the four curtain walls. The Castle defence was provided by a well-conceived system with musket loopholes distributed over four floors on either side of each tower. Legend has it that in former times there was a lord who wanted to accumulate too much power. The king at that time would have sent troops to dismantle a tower of the Castle as a punishment and a mark of disgrace… Long ago, the land of St-Juéry was part of the royal domain. An uninterrupted succession of noble families have lived in the Castle and most of the lords of St-Juéry were laid to rest in the former parish church.

Located upstream from Albi, 38 km away in the Tarn valley, the village of Trébas-les-Bains has been a GREEN STATION since 2006, for its natural setting rich in preserved flora and fauna, and PAVILLON BLEU since 2010, an eco-label of quality for its supervised white-water bathing in July and August. Leisure centre with many activities: book box, hiking, tennis, handball, basketball, petanque, football, fishing, nature discovery trail... Other paid activities on site: canoeing and paddle, inflatable games with the Oasis de Trébas. Supervised swimming from 2.30 pm to 7 pm every day in July and August.

The history of this village is intertwined with that of the old Episcopalian castle, which was formerly the Bishop of Vabres summer palace. The name of the village was first made mention of in an official document dating back to 862 AD.During the 12th century, continual invasions, acts of banditry and battles between feudal lords created a tremendous insecurity. This led to the building of battlements to improve the defensive system and providea safe haven to the neighbouring people during periods of turmoil. The castle and the fortified village date back to the time of the Vabres bishops who made the village their summer residence and a safe refuge.When the religious wars were over and peace restored, the protective wall lost its primary function and so today the façade of the castle has windows inserted along its length. The fortified gates were also demolished to allow the passage of carts or to expand the neighbouring houses. The villagestreet, footpath and house pattern has remained unchanged since the Middle Ages, and the beautiful 15th century facades and windowscan still be seen in some streets today. The old church part of the battlements had its vault lowered in 1635 to provide housing to the schoolmaster and guards. In 1650 repair works were started by the Consuls.

The Viala church was built in 1840 on the site of the village castle. The spire is made of red cut sandtone and contains a bell dating back to 1660 which was rung to remove the threat of thunderstorms.

This sanctuary which was founded by Alix de Castelnau has existed since at least the 15th century, when it was called Ouradou (oratory). This chapel was refurbished in 1730 and during the 19th century, the stairway door of the castle was then brought back into use.
