At the 1st gate continue up along the basalt cliff to the junction at LA PLAINE DU REGARD DIRECTION: BERZEME Then cross the pastures towards Berzème, crossing the junction at BRASSE NEGRE DIRECTION: BERZEME Follow a little road beside the fields up to the crossroads at FAUGERES DIRECTION: ST PONS You will then enter a typical Coiron pasture in which you will stay well over to the left following the markings. Then take a path that goes quite steeply down to La Roche Chérie. From this point, go back down the road to LA PEYRE DIRECTION: ST PONS From there, climb up through the middle of a field, where you will then continue along beside the fence and then turn right onto a path that will take you back to the village. Variant: at La Peyre, climb up to the left on a path on basalt flow deposits. Once on the plateau, turn right along the fences to cross the Plaine du Regard, with a magnificent view point! You will then come back to the Plaine du Regard pillar, which indicates the descent back to St Pons.

In a setting with oak trees mainly predominating, the hiking trail leads up to the highest point of the Serre mountain, at an altitude of 549 metres, providing some truly exceptional views.

On the first slopes of the Cévennes, the hamlets and houses of Ribes are spread along “faïsses” or terraces, home to vines and olive trees. P - Turn left opposite the signpost. Follow the tarmac road for a few metres and turn right onto a dirt track, then turn left down the steps to the Alune stream. Cross the stream at a ford, turn right and walk along the river until you reach a small submersible bridge where you can cross back over the stream. Twenty metres after the bridge, turn right onto a path that leads up to the village through chestnut trees and vineyards. When you reach the tarmac road, turn left to leave the hamlet. Before the bridge, turn right between the houses and go up to the street. Turn left to Mas de Laffont.   Mas de Laffont - Follow Prades 2,6 km, Ribes 0,6 km. Pass the Flaüts fountain and then take the tarmac road to the right. At the hairpin bend, turn right. After a bend, pass the rubbish collection point, take a path on the left that climbs between the vines.  Cross over the tarmac road and take the steps between the houses up to the church in the middle of Ribes.  Ribes - Follow Prades 2 km, Saint André Lachamp 6,9 km. When you reach the first houses, turn left to take a small alley in the hamlet of Les Clots. Take the tarmac road at the hairpin bend. Take the road to the left that goes up to Le Serre.  Le Serre - Follow Prades 1,4 km. The road winds upwards to the last houses. The trail continues via steps on the side of the mountain and then curves right. As you begin to descend, ignore the track to your left and continue along the path. After descending, join the track, and go left until you get to Prades.   Prades - Follow Info Rando 2,7 km, Ribes 1,6 km. Continue along the path on the right. About 100m further on, take the path that leads to the hamlet of Labeaume. Pass through the entire hamlet then carry on until you reach the hamlet of Le Gelly via the tarmac road.   Le Gelly - Follow Info rando 1,2 km, Joyeuse 4,5 km. Take the road and at the first crossroads, go right. Continue straight on until you’re level with a stone cross. After a chestnut grove, at the stone cross, leave the road via a “calade” or stone path down to Le Prat.  Le Prat - Follow Info rando 0,6 km. At the crossroads, go down the steps on the left and follow the path that brings you back to the multi-purpose hall.  

This beautiful hike will introduce you to Beaumont’s natural heritage via a botanical trail. You’ll cross open landscapes with beautiful views and pass through shady woodland too. P - Cross the Pont du Gua and take the road left for 100 metres. The path starts at the edge of the road on the right, and follows the Tour du Tanargue GRP ().   Colobrouze. The path climbs in a zig zag up to La Roche ().   La Roche. Follow the path to Clément.   Clément. Leave the GPR and take a path on your left () past a wall. The path continues and then descends. Cross several streams and fairly dense woodland, then climb up to Flacouze (N.B. on your right as you climb, you’ll see a beautiful spring).  Flacouze. Take the road. After several bends, take the path on the left after the fire reservoir to Bisourne.   Bisourne. Follow the road to get back to your starting point.

Discover the remains of the Bastide Royale, in the heart of Villeneuve de Berg The Bastide Royale was created in 1284 by a deed of betrothal between Philippe III le Hardi, King of France, and the Abbot of Mazan. This established royal justice over the whole of the Bas Vivarais and built a new town with its ramparts, its corner towers, its war gate or gate of honour adorned with the coat of arms of the town, its royal house, now the town hall (under the courtroom you can visit the prisons). Ancient sundials can be seen in the streets of the village. The Bastide Royal was created in 1284 by an act of feudal association between King Philippe III le Hardi and the Abby of Mazon. This act installed the king's jurisdiction over all of Bas Vivarais or present southern Ardèche, and created a new city with its ramparts, angled towers, and fortified gates ready for war and adorned with the emblem or blazon of the city. The former house of the king is where the Mayor's offices are located today (below the Hall of Justice you can visit the former prisons).

Remarkable natural site. The Ibie Valley is a sensitive and remarkable natural space. Its turquoise waters on its limestone bed offer a striking landscape. The Ibie has its source at the foot of Coiron, in Villeneuve de Berg on the edge of St Jean le Centenier, then crosses St Maurice d'Ibie to flow into the Ardèche near Vallon Pont d'Arc. Along the Béalières, old mills, waterfalls and white pebble beaches, discover this superb but fragile valley. It is not uncommon to see it dry in summer, but infiltrated in its limestone bed, it continues to flow underground, only to resurface a few hundred meters further, to hide again a little lower. To discover this superb valley, it is recommended to visit it in autumn or spring, when the greenery of the vegetation competes in beauty with the turquoise waters. Picnic areas are easily accessible for families in the village of St Maurice d'Ibie and in the hamlet of Sallèles. If you discover fossils in the riverbed, take a photo of a souvenir and put it back down: subsequent visitors will thank you and the relief will be preserved. To educate your children about the importance of water, a “Water is Life” game trail is available. For smartphone enthusiasts, the fun and connected route of Les Sallèles is what you need. On the road to Vallon Pont d'Arc, the valley of Ibie runs for 30 km. It is born at the foot of the Coiron and ends at the entrance of the Ardeche River. The river is usually dry most of the year but well known such as the " Hole of the Moon" (the dam of the old mill of "Noé"). The Ibie valley is full of lush vineyards and rows of lavender, it is the land of limestone as well. Its homes have "couradous" which are well-ventilated terraces, that are a testament to the Golden Age of Silk and its sericulture and thread making artistry. The village is made up of charming stone homes and cobblestone pathways which are perfect for a stroll. The hamlet of Salèlles is a part of St. Maurice d'Ibie. Regardless of the destruction of many of its arched passageways along the road leading to Vallon Pont d'Arc, there remain beautiful homes with beautiful archways with stairs at its exterior and two bread ovens, one belonging to the town and the other to a private owner. The high cypres trees not far from the hamlet, mark a number of cemetaries belonging to Protestant families.

Oppidum de Jastres-Nord is a Gallic oppidum of the barred spur type, overlooking the River Ardèche. On the accessible side, it is defended by a monumental wall showing three stages of construction. The first is represented by a stone dry wall, and divided the oppidum into 4 acres, dating 130 AC. Then, the enlargement of the oppidum translates into a massive book luminous square towers engaged in the work. An external key, usually found in camps Roman and serves as a forward defence of the door, and the use of the mortar to bind the nucleus are observed in this second phase dating back to 80 AC. Finally, a third phase, about 50 AC, double this construction of vibrant, alternately round and square towers. The latter State more widely uses the mortar for siding and towers. The back of these fortifications is noticeable a habitat composed of houses interspersed by a network of different sizes. This site is the former Chief City of the Helviens place, prior to the creation of Alba Helviorum.

Remarkable natural site - Basalt columnar. Of volcanic origin, the Coiron has the shape of an oak leaf, formed by basalt flows during volcanic eruptions that occurred. It stretches from the Escrinet pass to the Rhône Valley and dominates the limestone lands of the lower Vivarais. It stands out very clearly in the landscape by its black cliffs which we call Basaltic Organs. We will find them near our villages like St jean le Centenier, St Pons, Mirabel,… You just have to look at the landscape to find them. Here the basalt organs which form vertically when the lava cools are clearly visible. The slower the cooling, the more regular the prisms (organs) are.
