Access: From Remiremont go to Val-d'Ajol, go to the church. Parking: Park at Place du Sô. Distance: 11 km / Duration: 3 h 30 / Difference in height: 390m / Marking: Green disc. 1) From the church, follow the road to Saint-Bresson (former Gerbe d'Or brewery). Take the forest path and then a tarmac track leading off to the left to an inhabited clearing. Go around the dwellings by a forest track to the top of the mountain (old quarries on the left on the summit used to build the church). Follow the ridge path through the large Scots pines without leaving the forest. 2) At the junction with a tarmac path, head towards the farm on the left (fountain). At the first bend, a path on the left descends through a beech forest. Through a succession of small paths, reach the bottom of the Hamanxard valley (old workers' housing estate, school, farms). 3) The D20 at the bottom of the valley offers a shortcut in case of fatigue or unforeseen circumstances. If you choose to continue, cross the hamlet of Leyval straight ahead (several calvaries). A new ascent begins on a dirt track after a succession of fountains. 4) When you reach the hamlet of Les Granges de Leyval, turn sharply left after the last building. Continue along a grassy path in the direction of the television relay station on the other side (panoramic view of Faymont, Les Feuillées and the Val-d'Ajol). 5) Go down on a small road towards the village of Val-d'Ajol, which you can soon see. 6) Go down through the pastures on a grassy path. After crossing a wetland area often covered with periwinkle, take the path on the right. 7) At the hamlet of La Rochotte (17th century cross and viewpoint), follow the right-hand track which runs down the rest of the hill and leads back to the village by the road.

Access: From Remiremont, cross the Val-d'Ajol to the Town Hall. Parking: Park on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville and go to the Maison de la randonnée. Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Difference in height: 170m / Marking: Blue ring. 1) From the Maison de la Randonnée du Val-d'Ajol, follow the road to the right and then to the right again on the route de Plombières. Walk along the basketball court and then the Combeauté river and cross the De Buyer bridge. Turn right and follow for 200m the D23 leading to Fougerolles, then a street on the left towards the hamlet of Fricounot (chalot, fountain, calvary). 2) Go up a grassy path on the left. Take a sloping path to the right into the forest. At the end of the wood, follow the fence by a narrow path and reach the top of the hill (the and reach the top of the hill (beautiful panorama towards the Haute-Saône and the Haute Marne). 3) Back on the tarmac, follow on the left a communal path serving a few isolated farms amidst cherry and plum orchards. 4) At the Moulin Banvoie (locality with a calvary dating from 1678), follow the road to St Bresson to the right for 500m, until the next bend. Take the left-hand path which passes between two old farms and reaches the centre of the village via the former Gerbe d'Or brewery, which stopped producing beer in 1943.

Access: From Remiremont go to Val-d'Ajol, go to the Town Hall. Parking: Park near the town hall and the Maison de la randonnée. Distance: 9.4 km / Duration: 2 h / Difference in height: 270m / Marking: Red ring. 1) Take the road to Plombières and after the first bend to the left, turn right onto the rising road, then very quickly leave the road and turn right onto a rising path. 2) Before the forest house, cross the road and continue opposite towards La Feuillée Nouvelle. Make a small diversions towards the Fontaine Siméon. From the viewpoint, go into the forest towards the relay, then the old quarries and the Hôtel Enfoncé. 3) Take the small road and continue towards the Feuillée Dorothée (viewpoint). Retrace your steps and go down towards the Val d'Ajol.

Access: East of Val-d'Ajol. Parking: Park in the car park in Outremont. Distance: 7,7 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Difference in height: 220m / Signs: red ring. 1 Leave from the hamlet of Outremont (a visitor's car park has been provided at a crossroads). Head towards the densest and oldest part of the hamlet. Walk through the hamlet from bottom to top (numerous fountains and calvaries). 2 A dirt track on the right leads to the so-called "Angleys" (the largest calvary in the commune, but it is missing its cross). 3 Continue up the road, turning left at the first opportunity and then right before reaching a farm. 4 Walk 200m round trip to see one of the oldest carved crosses from the 17th century. Continue towards the forest. Cross the tarmac road. 5 Take a path that marks the boundary between Lorraine and Franche-Comté with some very special boundary markers (St André cross and Lorraine cross). 6 Leave the border path on the left to join the small road to Combelles. At the next crossroads, take a gravel road that passes the ONF refuge chalet. 7 Cross a large crossroads where several forest tracks converge. Go down a short steep slope to the left. The path joins a tarmac road downstream. Follow it to finish the route.

Access: From Remiremont, go to Val-d'ajol. Parking: opposite the Peugeot garage, route de Plombières. Distance: 7.5 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Difference in height: 100m / Signs: green ring. 1) Leave the car park in the direction of the church. Turn right before the bridge and walk along the river to the next bridge. Cross the De Buyer bridge and head towards the Post Office (1719 cross on the right of the Post Office). Go back in the direction of the church. Go back to the small square in rue de Plombières (border marker). Continue to the small square at the foot of the church, opposite the bakery (a 17th century cross). Go up the main street for 200m, passing the war memorial. 2) In the middle of a small square, go towards the Gravel cross (named after a former tabellion general). Continue along the main road to the next crossroads. Follow the Rue du Prieuré d'Hérival which leads to the old station. Walk along the square on the right. At the next crossroads, turn left onto the D20 in the direction of Hamanxard or rue des Mousses. Along the wall of the hotel, a path leads to a place of meditation (imitation of the grotto at Lourdes). 3) Continue along rue des Mousses (D20). On the pavement on the right are three old calvaries (two from the 17th century, one from 1803). Then branch off onto the route de Rapaumont (the Jean Sauvé cross at the crossroads). 4) At the bottom of the hill after a small bridge, a 500m loop leads to the hamlet of La Rochotte (1636 cross and panoramic view of the Val-d'Ajol). Back at the bottom of the hill, walk along the meadow to the hamlet of Bouchâtel. Take the D23 on the right. 5) Stop at Les Chênes (three crosses to visit). After this small hamlet, follow the small road of La Banvoie to the left. 6) At the hamlet called le Pied du Mont (one cross) turn left. 7) At La Banvoie, go back 100m to the right (2 crosses). 8) At the Mésaubé (a cross on the left), go back 30m then head towards the Granges (a cross) and the Cross (a small calvary from 1601). 9) Turn right towards Le Moncel. 10) In the hamlet of Moncel (an old cross at the crossroads), go back 100m to the right (second cross) and return to the starting point by the left-hand street.

Mountain bike circuit AC8 Red - 25 km - Difference in altitude 580 m Start coordinates: N 47 55'36.505" E 006 28'53.318" The Tour du Val-d'Ajol on both sides of the Combeauté valley with its two difficult climbs, the first on the south side towards the Hôtel Enfoncé and its plateau (descent via the Faymont waterfall), the second on the north side via the Géhard waterfall to the magnificent little village of Girmont-Val-d'Ajol, all with a panoramic view of the whole valley.

Mountain bike circuit AC2 Green - 8 km - Difference in altitude 140 m Start coordinates: N 47 56'32.498" E 006 28'17.175" This route, which takes you through fields and past the Etang des Prêtres, is suitable for experienced families. Be careful to keep your feet under you on the last climb.

Mountain bike circuit AC1 Blue - 19 km - Difference in altitude 340 m Start coordinates: N 47 56'32.498" E 006 28'17.175 This route is suitable for experienced mountain bikers: not very technical but physical. You will discover the beautiful view of La Feuillée Nouvelle.

Access: From Remiremont, take the expressway towards Vesoul. Take the D20 exit for Le Val-d'Ajol, then head for La Croisette at the roundabouts. Parking: park at "l'Hôtel Enfoncé". Distance: 6 km / Duration: 2 h / Difference in height: 130m / Signs: yellow ring. 1) Start from the place called l'Hôtel Enfoncé. Follow the large forest path opposite the Foyer Rural. 200 m after the refuge chalet, take the left-hand path. Go straight on until you reach the magnificent viewpoint of La Feuillée Nouvelle, which is located after the television relay station. 2) On the right at the end of the terrace, a gravel path leads down to the D20. Follow this road for 100 m downstream, until the first bend in the road, where you take a forest track to the right. Follow it for about 1 km until it joins another forestry lane called the Grande Tranchée. 3) Immediately turn left onto a dirt track that runs along the ridge. A hook on the left offered a viewpoint that no longer exists. Therefore, stay on the same ridge path. 4) Leave the ridge path on the right. Cross the Grande Tranchée again. Follow the edge of the forest to the first path on the left leading out of the wood. Cross a tarmac track and take the first path on the right towards the Etang des Prêtres (this pond was listed in the inventory of the Priory of Hérival in 1792). 5) Go along the pond, bypassing it from the north and taking a wide path lined with new houses, then at the next crossroads go back into the forest on a grassy path. 6) Once on the D20, turn right towards the summit to reach the car park after 200 m.

Enjoy a Swiss cheese tasting and learn more about the national dish: fondue.  Learn to make your own Swiss fondue and try the traditional dish.  After your meal, relax and climb on board the Golden Express, a panoramic train which crosses the alpine pastures and the heights of Lake Geneva. Enjoy incredible views of the lake and the Alps. When you get off the train, get back on your bus and head to Lavaux and its terraced vineyards. The little train offers you a 35 minutes tour. Thanks to the commentary on board, you will discover the main monuments and emblematic places of the city.

A programme of thematic exhibitions is presented every year : paintings, sculptures, photographs, etc. In just a few years, the Palais Lumière has become one of the main cultural and artistic centres of the lake Geneva basin. Inaugurated in August 1902, the institute of hydrotherapy is considered to be the best of its kind. Open from 15 May to 15 October, it administers 1,200 treatments a day: baths, showers, massages, and electrical and mechanical treatments. Architect Ernest Brunnarius designed an impressive building: 68 m long and 25 m high, topped with a 30-m dome on a square base. Along the partially tiled façade, the ramps lead to a monumental entrance framed by bell towers. Under the porch, two paintings by Jean Benderly depict water. Listed as a historical monument, the building was extensively renovated from 2004 to 2006. Renamed the "Palais Lumière", it now holds a multi-media library, exhibition rooms and a convention centre. - April 19, 2025 to January 4, 2026 Exhibition of a selection of more than three hundred works drawn from a private collection of nearly five thousand paintings, drawings, watercolors, prints, posters, books and illustrated magazines, by recognized artists or to be discovered. Known as the Jérenceau or Jaranceau cross, this crossroads cross dates from 1626 and was restored in 1750. On one side, Christ with a flattened chest, girded by a heavy drapery, is depicted. On the right, under the arm of the cross, is Saint Magdalene, her head veiled, while on the left is Saint John. On the reverse, the square-jawed Virgin holds the naked Child on her lap. Saint Paul is shown holding his keys to the shaft, a symbol of his authority. Listed as a historic monument since 1926, it is one of 145 crosses in the Val-d'Ajol and forms part of the largest Way of the Cross in Christendom.

In the heart of Val-d'Ajol, a 17th-century cross stands out for its diamond shape decorated with fleur-de-lys. At its centre, Christ, head bowed, is surrounded by the Virgin Mary and Saint John, symbols of compassion and faith. The Val-d'Ajol, with its 145 crosses, three of which are listed as Historic Monuments, has a remarkable religious heritage. This cross is part of the largest Way of the Cross in Christendom, offering an exceptionally rich spiritual and cultural journey.

In the centre of the Val-d'Ajol, this former quarry, dug in the first half of the 20th century for the needs of a textile factory, has been managed for about thirty years by the local fishing company, which regularly supplies the pond with trout, carp... there are also guards and tench. The first church in Val d'Ajol, which resembled a chapel, stood on a mound. Deemed too small, it was replaced in the 16th century by a new church on the Place du Sô. The oldest part of the church dates back to the 16th century, and was extended until the 18th century to accommodate the growing population. After the earthquake of 1682, the bell tower, built on unstable ground, was consolidated in 1734 with a portico with three porches aligned with the nave and aisles. The bell tower houses four bells and its roof is covered in lava stone. The interior contains a number of items that are listed as historic monuments: an 18th-century altarpiece, a 16th-century Christ on the Cross and a 15th-century piéta.

In the 19th century, places of entertainment called "Feuillées" were created on the heights of the village and regularly frequented each summer by illustrious artists and celebrities in a spa in Plombières-les-Bains. The long walks were done in tanks dragged by oxen, the walkers made a roof in foliage or "in foliage", to guarantee themselves from the heat of the sun. Viewpoint on the city and its valley. Viewpoint overlooking the Combeauté valley with on the right the Saint-Valbert coast, and on the left, the Prieuré d'Hérival nestled in a remote part of the gorge. At the beginning of the 19th century, only a small farm existed when Empress Josephine visited it. This place had its period of fame from 1827 when a young girl, Dorothée Vançon, sang and played Epinette des Vosges while serving refreshments to her guests, thus contributing to the reputation of the place which naturally bears her first name. This 16th-century Gothic masterpiece illustrates the region's religious tradition. On one side, Christ faces a Virgin and Child, while the octagonal shaft, decorated with arcatures, represents several saints: Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint Sebastian, Saint Bartholomew, Saint Nicholas, Saint James and Saint Andrew. Beneath Saint Peter, a kneeling woman, probably a donor, bears witness to the faith of the time. Listed as a historic monument in 1908, this cross is one of 145 in the Val-d'Ajol and forms part of the largest Way of the Cross in Christendom.

King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, Stanislas Leszcynski took the waters at Plombières. During his last visit to the city, he gave a "leaf" to his granddaughters, Mrs Adelaide and Mrs Victoire, daughters of Louis XV, near the Civrac barn. There, he learned that a curious fountain was flowing over this place. He was taken there in a sedan chair and when he saw it, he was delighted and shouted: "It is one of nature's beauties and I want it to bear my name". This source deserved Stanislas' attention; it is remarkable for the site that surrounds it. The rock above it bears 4 inscriptions in honour of Stanislas, including one engraved in 1766, the date of the King's tragic death, and another composed in 1813 by the knight and then Marquis de Boufflers (1738-1815), son of the spiritual Marquise who often came to Plombières alongside the King. On the left, a head is carved on a small rock and reminds us that Berlioz wrote his opera Les Troyens here in 1856 and 1857.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste church is located in Ruaux, a small village in the commune of Plombières-les-Bains. It is classified as a "barn church", a type of construction common in 18th-century Lorraine. The church is one of the few surviving examples of the use of sandstone or "laves" as a roofing material in religious buildings. This technique was mainly used from the second half of the 18th to the 19th century. The building was restored in 1985.

The Hotel Enfoncé is an atypical place dating from 1852 which had various vocations: hotel, café, restaurant, grocery store... After 20 years of closure, the guest house has been welcoming travelers passing through and holidaymakers in lush greenery and forest. The building has been completely redesigned with respect for ecology and renovated with natural products (wood, lime plaster...).
