Croix des chenes

This 16th-century Gothic masterpiece illustrates the region's religious tradition. On one side, Christ faces a Virgin and Child, while the octagonal shaft, decorated with arcatures, represents several saints: Saint Peter, Saint Paul, Saint Sebastian, Saint Bartholomew, Saint Nicholas, Saint James and Saint Andrew.

Beneath Saint Peter, a kneeling woman, probably a donor, bears witness to the faith of the time. Listed as a historic monument in 1908, this cross is one of 145 in the Val-d'Ajol and forms part of the largest Way of the Cross in Christendom.
