The Romanesque church would have been a hostelry of the Templars, on the way to Santiago de Compostela. There is the old presbytery next to the bell tower. A passageway linked the presbytery directly to the church where the wooden balcony is located. During a restoration, various statues were highlighted on an old altar. The bell tower is a massive tower that serves as a porch and access to the floor of the two bells by a staircase with three levels. One of the two bells is by the founder Martin Augustin. At the precise moment of thunder, this bell was rung to ward off the storm. "It had a gift. The second bell dates from 1766.

The Landes arenas were for many built towards the end of the 19th century. However, some arenas, such as here in Bégaar, are built especially for the summer period with a wooden frame. The majority of the arenas host Landaises races. During these races, the spreaders dodge at the last moment the cow in the centre of the track. The jumpers, for their part, make jumps over the cow. During the local festivals, arena games (toro-ball) are also organised as well as cockade competitions where shavers have to tear off a piece of cloth between the cow's horns. In larger arenas, novilladas or bullfights take place.

Along the river Midouze, there are remains of milestones. In the 19th century, they were used as landmarks during the transport of goods pulled by horses or mules from the towpath. They indicate the distances to the confluence of the Adour and Tartas rivers as well as the distance to the ocean (arrival in the Atlantic Ocean at Bayonne).

In Gascon, Adour (an ancient term) means "source", "watercourse" and adourgà or adorgar means "to irrigate". The word adur is specialized in Basque in the sense of 'destiny', 'magic wave' (presumed meaning of 'mood'). The Adour has its source at the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, south of Tarbes and in the heart of the Pyrenees. It flows into the Atlantic Ocean just downstream of Bayonne, after a journey of more than 300 kilometres. Carp fishing at night is allowed on this river Some rules are to be respected : only vegetal baits are allowed and all the carps caught must be immediately put back in the water. The night time is considered as 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. The practice is carried out only from the bank.

The new Saint-Laurent church, of contemporary style and rectangular plan, was rebuilt in 1974 thanks to the financial participation of the inhabitants, who mobilized themselves to have a place of worship. It has a gable roof that covers the entire building. This overhanging roof serves as a porch. The facade has a double entrance divided by a pillar decorated with a monumental cross and a large glass window with wooden crimping in its upper part.

Former residence of the lieutenant generals of the Seneschalee de Tartas at the time of Louis XIII (early 17th century) and more recently the old town hall, it is built according to an L-shaped plan and was modified in the 19th century. This building is built in a square on 3 levels. The floors are underlined by banners. The two sides on the courtyard are pierced with cross windows and a rusticated lintel. The carved wooden door is surmounted by an interrupted triangular pediment. A cornice supported by corbels runs along the facades of the second level. An additional level has been added along the axis of the entrance door. The cross dormer window is topped by a curved pediment and a ball.

Listed as a Historic Monument in 1999. The Church of Saint James in Tartas is one of the best regional examples of 19th century religious art, both from the point of view of architecture and interior decoration and furnishings, an ensemble whose homogeneity is rarely achieved. In 1842, the decision was taken to rebuild a parish church in the upper town. In 1846, choice of a project in the neo-gothic style of the architect Hippolyte Durand. The construction lasted from 1849 to 1854, accompanied by the realization of a large mural decoration by the Mons painter Louis-Anselme Longa and a large order of furniture from the Bordeaux workshop Bernard Jabouin.

The square tower of the XIth century, 15 meters high, is of an astonishing robustness with its wide walls of more than one meter. It serves as a bell tower for the church and stands proudly in the centre of the village. The church was built later. Pierced with loopholes, this tower had a defensive role at the time of the wars between the lords of the surroundings. On the first floor, crenellations cut into the stone served as benches for the guards who kept watch. Then the shepherds watched the flocks of sheep from the tower. The tower offers a beautiful view, especially on the oak groves of the Adour. The entrance is highlighted by a beautiful oak door with sculptures carved in stone on both sides. On the ground, under the porch, one can observe 3 slabs covering burials. The church has been restored twice in 2009 and 2016.

Listed as a Historic Monument in 2005, the church of St Jean Baptiste de Ponson in Carcen Ponson dates from the 12th century. Fortified and overlooking the Midouze, this building is formed in the Romanesque period of a nave and a span between a semicircular apse and a bell-tower-wall. In the Middle Ages, a new bay was added to the bell tower. In the 17th century, a porch, a stair tower and two side chapels were added. The sacristy dates from the 18th century. In the 19th century, the two side chapels were rebuilt and finished in the apse. Under the choir is a Romanesque vaulted chapel, probably a crypt.
