Pearl of Roman Art, this magnificent abbey was founded in 1032 by Duke Robert the Magnificent. With its apse of 15 bays and 3 levels combining refinement and brightness, the Abbey is unique in Normandy. Another masterpiece is the 14th century Abbot's chapel, reminiscent of the Sainte Chapelle in Paris.

This site, in the immediate vicinity of the abbey, offers an aesthetic balance between architecture and nature. National and international sculptors are invited to participate in the biennial symposium.

Situated in the Cotentin region, between Carentan and Saint-Lô, in the Regional Natural Park of the Cotentin and Bessin marshes, stand the imposing ruins of an ancient medieval fortification. The Château de la Rivière was built around 1090 by Odon de Conteville, half-brother of William the Conqueror, to protect the East from the River Vire. After a few evolutions over the centuries, the castle was unfortunately the victim of the bombardments of the Second World War and gradually collapsed to become the one we can see today. In the 1960s, the castle aroused renewed interest through the installation of a campsite and then a naturist centre when it was the property of the camping club de France. "A paradise for storks": Privately owned since 2006, the castle is now renowned as a stork paradise. Attracted by the mild and humid climate and the aquatic richness offered by the marsh, the river castle has become a nesting place for these black and white waders. Grouped in two groups, the younger ones migrate to warmer destinations for the winter and the older ones keep watch all year round on this site marked by history. The Château de la Rivière and the surrounding fields are privately owned, so it is important to respect the place when going to observe the storks.

Le Pont de la Pierre Vintage B&B was built in 1758 and is located in beautiful tranquil countryside on the borders of Calvados and La Manche. We are close to the D-Day landing beaches and other historical sites in Lower Normandy. Mike is Dutch and is working as a full-time battlefield tour guide here in Normandy. His wife Deb has set up and decorated our vintage B&B, as well as her antiques shop. In 1944 a battle for the nearby bridge "Le Pont de la Pierre" took place. The US 29th Infantry Division attempted to cross it on the 12 June but failed, suffering many casualties. In memory of those who fell during this actions, we have erected a monument in our field close to the bridge. We have renovated the house in the style of the 1920-1940s era, which is our personal taste in design, furnishing and fashion. We also are much involved in the 1940s dance scene and WW2 re-enactments. We are dedicated to give our guests a truly vintage experience.
