From Saint-Jean-de-Luz to Hendaye, the route runs along the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and offers beautiful views of the protected cove of Socoa. Then, the route rises on ridges, spectacular and panoramic, before plunging back down to the large beach of Hendaye.

A 100% safe bike ride that takes you to the departure point of the Train de la Rhune. You'll cycle along the Nivelle valley to the village of Ascain, before taking the old tramway track, now a greenway, to the Col de St Ignace. It's a great way to discover the valley and a responsible way to get to the Train de la Rhune.

Located to the south of Saint-Jean-de-Luz railway station, this beautiful, peaceful, well-landscaped promenade runs along the River Nivelle from the Urdazuri district towards the Chantaco golf course. It also invites you to enjoy the pleasures of the beach and stroll through the lively historic center of the Corsair town.

As it approaches the Atlantic Ocean, the Bidassoa River settles in the bay of Chingoudy (Txingudi) and mixes its fresh waters coming down the Navarrese mountains with the salted tides. Since the 1659 treaty, the riverbed has been a natural border between France and Spain. On the right bank are the French cities of Urrugne and Hendaye and on the left bank are the Iberian one, Irun and Hondarribia. This bike tour proposes to visit both banks of the Bidassoa estuary and to ride around the unique Chingoudi bay, a place where borders have been crossed since the dawn of time and which people dreams of. A cross-border itinerary facilitated by a maritime shuttle in the port of Hendaye, accepting bicycles on board: a few minutes floating transition for an original journey from one country to another.

The Micro-Folie digital museum in Saint-Jean-de-Luz opened its doors in October 2025 on the first floor of the Villa Ducontenia. This virtual gallery offers an innovative artistic experience, with the possibility of discovering thousands of works thanks to collaboration with 12 national cultural establishments, as well as international and regional museums: paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs, contemporary dance, music and more. The oldest parts as the porch-church tower et some windows on Gambetta street are from the XIVth or the XVth century. In 1649, Louis de Milhet, architect for the King of France, established in Bayonne, draws the new plans for the chruch. The wedding of Louis XIVth and the infanta Marie Teresa in 1660 takes place in a church still in works.

In the Basque Country, Saint-Jean-de-Luz lies in a bay on the Atlantic Ocean. Built in 1643 by a rich ship-owner, this house welcomed the young King Louis XIV for several months in 1660 when he came to sign the Treaty des Pyrénées and marry the Spanish Infanta Marie Thérèse in the Church of Saint Jean de Luz. The port of Saint-Jean-de-luz was one of the great fishing ports of France. There was the heyday of whale and cod fishing. At that time, the rich shipowners built the most beautiful houses which today make the charm of the city. Then the port acquired its notoriety with the sardine and tuna fishing. Several boats (baitboats and pole-and-line vessels) have left their mark on the history of Basque fishing. Today, the fishing port is home to a quality artisanal fishing industry concerned with preserving the resource. The Saint-Jean-de-Luz hake is representative of this approach.

A convent was built in 1611 by the franciscan monks of the branch of récollets on a small island in the middle of the Nivelle whose property had never been determined. The chapel was ended in 1613 then the convent in 1643. In the center of the court of the convent, a well-tank was built in 1662 thanks to the generosity of cardinal Mazarin on the occasion of the marriage of Louis XIV. In 1791, the monks were hunted by the Revolutionaries.
