This route takes you up in a gondola lift, giving you great views of the Grande Casse (highest peak in the Savoie region: 3,855m). Look out for marmots on the ledge 100 metres from the gondola lift station. Watch out for cyclists and golfers. A route between two big resorts against one beautiful backdrop after another, complete with breathtaking views over various peaks! This route meanders between the big resorts of Méribel and Courchevel, which are in turn connected to other routes. The tarmacked Col de la Loze mountain pass takes you from one to the other, along a route that only bikes can use, culminating at an altitude of 2,304m. The scenery is truly breathtaking! This trail combines paths going around the mountainside and mainly goes downwards, passing through the forest to link the two highest villages in the ski resort.

Founded in 1946 by Savoie Council to boost tourism and provide skiing to the masses, Courchevel is a pioneer in terms of planning the ski area and holiday accommodation on the mountain. It is the first French resort built on virgin territory ideal for winter sports: guaranteed snow on a northern slope, spruce forests, views as far as the eye can see, corries and white fields transformed into ski slopes, mountain passes and summits easily accessible from neighbouring valleys. We invite you to discover the new architectural style invented in Courchevel during the 1950's. Please respect private property by keeping to the public footpath.

This route offers a combination of pleasant downhill balcony trails through the forest between the two highest villages in the resort. From the Sandraz totem, take the snow-covered path which goes down to the Cospillot ski run and cross it (beware of skiers). Follow the track in the forest for about 80m and look for a small trail on the left. After a few turns on this path, you will reach the Bellevue trail, above the road, which leads to the Plan du Vah. Cross the road and reach the wide groomed path, on the lake’s left bank. At the Plan du Vah totem, go straight on. 500m further, turn right on a small trail which leads to the edge of the torrent. There, you will find a path to follow for about 400m. Cross the bridge and continue until you reach the houses.

A pretty circuit around the resort’s finest hotels and palaces, with stretches of forest and on the edge of a snow-covered lake with La Saulire as a backdrop.

Discover the Plan du Vah lake and Praméruel forest by ski touring. This quiet, yet, fairly demanding route takes you up to the Cave des Creux, where you can enjoy superb views over the Vanoise peaks. The route is sometimes reserved for ski touring, sometimes shared with pedestrians, and on the final ascent it runs alongside a ski slope. At Plan du Vah, you’ll need to take off your skis to cross the main road.

Being close to water is very relaxing as you walk through the light-filled forest. Look out for a wide range of rare and protected species along the way. Avoid in heavy rain. Lac de la Rosière Car Park By shuttle bus (line H), go to the end of the line and get off at the “Lac de la Rosière” stop. By car, turn left at the first roundabout as you come into Courchevel Moriond, take several sharp bends heading towards Belvédère and take “Route de la Rosière” going downhill on the left, on the same level as the hiking symbol, just after Le Zenith hotel. It can sometimes be difficult to park at La Rosière, so we recommend that you park at the Cimes Blanches (free covered car park in summer) car park in Courchevel Moriond, and take a shuttle bus that will drop you right at the site entrance.

Join the mythical Col de la Loze on cross-country skis! At the intersection between the Courchevel and Méribel ski areas, the Col de la Loze is a must-see in the 3 Vallées. You can extend your outing as far as the orientation table by turning right after the arrival station of the Dou des Lanches chairlift. At the start, go up the "Déviation 1550" piste, to the right of the Tovets chairlift station, to join the Plum KV itinerary by turning left after crossing the Brigues ski run.

NOTRE DAME DE L’ASSOMPTION CHAPEL (1953) – listed as a Monument Historique on January 17th 2005 The chapel in a peaceful setting was built in several stages (1953, 1955, 1970, 1992) not far from the hustle and bustle of the resort. What’s special about this chapel is its French window which enables the congregation to take part in services from outside and the priest has a round altar!

JOLIOT-CURIE CHALET (1949) – listed as a Monument Historique on January 17th 2005 It is the first mountain dwelling designed by Denys Pradelle. Using local materials and modern building techniques, the architect developed a new way of building on the mountain for townsfolk.

LA CROISETTE (1971) La Croisette is the resort’s beating heart on which Laurent Chappis based his urban planning project in 1946. Up until the building’s construction in 1971, the snow front was only marked out by the road with parking spaces on one side and ski slopes on the other. The areas were based around this point: Chenus and Plantret to the west and the other districts (Tovets, Bellecôte, Cospillot, Nogentil, Jardin Alpin, Pralong) up to the Altiport to the east. LE FORUM (1991) This shopping and leisure centre was originally built for the 16th Winter Olympics in Albertville in 1992. The hockey teams trained on the skating rink during the 1992 Winter Olympics.

LES MAZOTS AREA AND LA GOUPILLE GRANARY(1953) – listed as a Monument Historique on January 23rd 2005 There are forty or so granaries built on a plot with a spruce forest in this area. Some are untouched and some have been renovated. The most impressive is La Goupille. Laurent Chappis had the idea to bring a granary from Maurienne and rebuild it in Courchevel for winter sports holidays! Eugène Claudius-Petit (then Urban Planning and Reconstruction Minister) loved the idea and had his La Goupille built next to Chappis’ !

LE PETIT NAVIRE CHALET (1951-1952) – listed as a Monument Historique on January 25th 2005 This is Denys Pradelle’s own chalet built for his family. It is the first detached house to be built in a ski resort with French council housing funding and assisted home buying scheme.

DENYS PRADELLE’S HOUSE Denys Pradelle lived here with his family when he moved to Courchevel in 1946 to oversee initial work on the new resort. The architect was one of the pioneers along with Laurent Chappis (architect-urban planner) who contributed to the creation of Courchevel 1850, a project which was launched by the Savoie region in collaboration with Saint-Bon politicians.

Courchevel Village has two chapels. The first one is devoted to Saint François de Sales and Sainte Jeanne de Chantal, two popular local saints, in Les Grangettes (consecrated in 1965 and raised in 1995).

A magical site accessible only by foot, snowshoeing or ski touring. A small chalet warmed with a wood stove welcomes you to enjoy hot drinks, local and/or organic products and spend a pleasant time. The chalet is located at 2 km from the start of the road "Route du lac de la Rosière" (Hotel Zénith), groomed but not plowed, not open to traffic. Mountain refuge on the shores of the Merlet lakes, in Vanoise National Park, surrounded by exceptional scenery that is characteristic of the mountains. Quiet, small mountain refuge. The refuge is staffed in the summer and open to access freely in the winter (wood and gas provided) Staffed in the summer from the end of June to the beginning of September. Weekend bookings are possible in September and October. Open to access freely in the winter, with a fee of €10 that should be left behind.

The Merlet Lake shelter is the smallest mountain hut in the Vanoise National Park. It belongs to the Town Hall, is open daily in July and August and managed by a member of the general public. It is open the rest of the year but unstaffed. Blankets alone are provided. The mountain hut is in the heart of the National Park in Avals Valley at an altitude of 2,417m. It has a terrace, common room with refectory, dormitory with 14 bunk beds and a 4-bed attic room over the common room. It has composting toilets and two outdoor water fountains which are free to the general public and guests alike (no shower). The hut can only be reached on foot. It has bivouac authorisation from Vanoise National Park subject to the number of beds in the hut. The Refuge des lacs Merlets is located in the heart of the Vanoise National Park at 2,417 m in altitude. It is a Chaloin type refuge, rustic and warm and made from wood. Built in the 1970s, it can accommodate 14 people per night.

Mountain refuge offering overnight stays and catering, located in the Avals valley on the edge of the Vanoise National Park. The site is ideal for hiking, climbing (several equipped cliffs), mountain biking/electric mountain biking (electric bike charging station), fishing, and exploring the Vanoise National Park. The Grand Plan refuge is nestled deep in the Avals Valley, a hidden gem of Courchevel, at the gateway to the Vanoise National Park. The landscapes range from the glacial peaks of the Mont Blanc massif to the verdant mountain pastures of the Grand Plan and the many surrounding lakes. The area is ideal for hiking, climbing (with several equipped cliffs of varying difficulty and length), mountain biking/electric bike riding, fishing in mountain lakes, exploring the Vanoise National Park, and, of course, admiring the magnificent scenery. The refuge offers overnight stays in dormitories or small rooms, as well as quality meals for lunch and dinner; a relaxation area, library, and games are also available. There will also be entertainment: Nepalese evenings every Friday evening, occasional musical entertainment.

Parking in the Bouquetin car park is limited to 7 days for light vehicles. Parking for motorhomes is limited to 24 hours by municipal decree. For a longer duration, contact the campsites. Public restrooms, water spigot.

Back to basics: a warm and friendly, rustic, and peaceful atmosphere. Easy access: breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, magical sunsets, and a majestic mountain cirque. Accessible to children, parents, grandparents, hikers, and climbers. You can even bring your pet with you to this wonderful setting. Pets are not welcome outside the National Park boundaries. Bivouacs are possible. Note: In June, some streams and/or snowfields can be difficult to cross due to snowmelt. Please contact the warden at the Refuge du Grand Bec beforehand.

⚠️ CLOSED FOR SUMMER 2025 ⚠️ A green oasis at the foot of the mountains. Located on the edge of the Isertan forest, Camping le Chamois is a peaceful spot. You'll appreciate its setting and the surrounding tranquility. Campground with 139 campsites: located along the forest's edge, calm, partial access for persons with reduced mobility, near several activities (pool, ice rink, via ferrata...) and trailheads.
