The square of the station offers 8600m² of natural areas dedicated to pedestrians. In 1858, the station of Charleville is inaugurated, first station of this line built at the request of the patrons of Ardenne industry. In 1866, the City felt the need to embellish the station square and she developed a square with some remarkable trees (Gingko biloba, Sequoia ...) and his famous bandstand, immortalized a few years later by the famous poem "To the music". In this text, the enfant terrible of the city, Arthur Rimbaud, portrays in vitriol the good bourgeois society of Charleville, who comes to take the green and listen to the "fifes" of the music of the soldiers of 91 ° RI of Mézières. His bronze bust, recently rehabilitated, third edition of the first monument in homage to the poet in the city, faces that of Gustave Gailly, mayor-deputy-senator-industrialist in Charleville during the lifetime of Rimbaud. In 1874, Charles Moreaux and his brother founded the Moreaux Frères company to manufacture railway parts. In 1888, Charles set up his own company, Ch. Moreaux et Fils, and set up his factory on Avenue Nationale (now Charles-de-Gaulle) to produce various items such as jacks and hinges. The company became Ets Moreaux et Cie in 1910, then Moreaux Fils. In the 1940s, it specialised in aluminium casting under the name SARL Moreaux et Cie. In 1954, it was bought by Jubert Frères and became Jubert-Moreaux et Cie. The buildings, some of which can still be seen today, were subsequently occupied by EDF, and since the 1980s by the SOPAIC printing works. Part of the site was demolished in 2008 to make way for buildings. Around 1900, the factory employed 65 people, rising to 91 in 1942. The site consisted of brick offices, limestone rubble workshops and brick or reinforced concrete outbuildings, all with different roofs. Some structures have been replaced or refitted over time.

The boiler works, sheet metal works and galvanising plant, located in Mézières, would have been built in the late 19ᵉ or early 20ᵉ century. After the Second World War, it housed the Gaston Dham colour factory. Today, the site is divided between the Ponsart garage, on the Quai Roussel side, and the Espace Habitat technical premises, on the Rue d'Alsace and Boulevard Poirier sides. In 1943, the factory employed 48 people. The complex, bordered by three streets near the river Meuse, comprises several buildings: -On the Quai Roussel side, five limestone rubble buildings, with long-sloped or sheds roofs, and wooden frames covered with slate or sheet metal. -On the rue d'Alsace side, rubble stone buildings with metal sheds, extended by three brick workshops with metal frames, covered in sheet metal or asbestos cement. These buildings are flanked by offices and a caretaker's lodge forming a U-shape, built of limestone rubble with a square floor, near the main entrance.

A small factory set up by Roger Dehuz in 1919 to manufacture tools. Taken over in 1926 by Léon Dehuz and then by his widow in the 1940s, Etablissements Dehuz went on to specialise in the manufacture of tubular metal furniture. It is not known when the site closed. The buildings are currently occupied by a commercial company. The building must date from 1919, and the extension at the back was probably built after the Second World War. The factory is located on a narrow plot of land, with a building facing the street with brick panelled walls and a square storey. The workshops to the rear occupy two square storeys supported by a reinforced concrete structure and brick-filled walls. The whole building is covered by a long-sloped roof with an exposed metal frame covered in mechanical tiles.

The Trécourt family, printers since the 18th century, owned several printing works, including one in Vouziers and one in Mézières, founded in 1812 by Jean-Baptiste Louis Trécourt. After him, Ferdinand Devin ran the printing works from 1852 to 1890, followed by Albert Anciaux until 1914. During the First World War, the premises were occupied by the German army. Taken over by Pierre Anciaux in 1931, it remained in the family until 2003. The buildings suffered two major disasters: the bombings of 1870 and a fire in 1920, but were quickly restored. Still in operation today, the printing works comprises brick and limestone offices, a metal workshop and a slate-roofed warehouse. The workforce grew from 34 in the 1940s to around 49 in the 1950s.

The plant, built in 1842 to produce gas from coal, was modified several times, completely rebuilt in the 1920s and 1930s, and remained in operation until the 1960s. It had three gasometers (10,000 m³), which were destroyed in the 1980s. Around 1965, the furnaces and installations were replaced by offices and technical workshops. Located on the banks of the Meuse on a 17,500 m² site crossed by the Charleville-Hirson railway line, the 1920s-30s buildings are made of reinforced concrete and brick, with shed roofs or Caquot vaults. The spare parts shops have reinforced concrete vaults supported by an exposed framework. The laboratory, converted into offices, dates from the 1960s. To the west, the workers' accommodation consists of two limestone houses (with mechanical tile roofs); to the east, other rubble stone dwellings have slate roofs.

Art Deco has left its mark on the urban landscape of Charleville-Mézières. This architectural style, characterised by geometric lines and stylised motifs, flourished in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly in the context of post-war reconstruction. This style is particularly evident in the Avenue d'Arches district of Mézières (Avenue d'Arches, Promenade de Dülmen, Quai Henri Roussel, Rue Colette), where buildings and houses are adorned with turrets and bell towers, beautiful bas-reliefs and elaborate ironwork balconies. Charleville also boasts a number of buildings that are typical of this style, such as the Petit Bois stadium (rue du Petit Bois) and the former bains-douches (rue Couvelet), as well as several fine houses around boulevard Gambetta and rue de Montjoly.

This square bears the name of a former mayor of Mézières, named after its founder, mayor of Mézières (1878-1903). In 1892, facing the northern rampart of Mézières, this municipal square was built by the unemployed Mézières.July 30, 1893, the Minister of War, General Loizillon inaugurates the bronze statue of Chevalier Bayard, close to the Tower of the School. At the end of the 19th century, Bosshard founded an electrical equipment factory at Le Moulinet, which was moved to its current location before 1910. In 1913, the Poirier brothers took over the business under the name Bosshard, Poirier Frères et Cie. The factory was looted in 1915, and a restoration was carried out in 1920. The company diversified its activities to produce and repair generators, electric motors, alternators, transformers and lifting equipment. After production ceased (date unknown), the site was taken over by the Automobile Club des Ardennes, then by the Baudoin garage. Around 1900, around 10 workers were employed here. Located near a railway line, the factory comprised a main brick building with a metal roof, offices and accommodation upstairs. Behind this was the workshop, and to the west were two warehouses.
