The short cycling trail along the river Rhône is ideal for a family outing, mostly on safe, nature cycling routes. On the longer trail, amateur cyclists will be thrilled with the view after an uphill effort to Pic Saint-Romain. Go along the ViaRhôna to Tournon-sur-Rhône. 1. 7,8 km Cross the footbridge onto the green route “Chabalet” heading towards Valence. 2. 16,4 km Get back onto the ViaRhôna heading to Tournon and cross over the river Rhône and its canal again. 3. 19,1 km Continue straight on the main road. 4. 20 km Turn left signed up Saint-Péray. 5. 21,3 km Turn right signed up Saint-Romain-de-Lerps. 6. 26,3 km Turn right at Combes onto “route de Combes”. 7. 29,1 km Turn right at the stop sign, continue to Pic de Lerps viewpoint then retrace your steps. 7. 30 km Back at the crossroads, follow signs to Saint-Sylvestre. 8. 31,4 km Turn right onto “route de Plats” to the village. 9. 35,9 km Turn right after the church onto the main road to Mauves. 10. 43,2 km Turn right at the stop sign leading into Mauves then continue through the village. 11. 45,3 km Turn left just before the railway line then return to Glun.

Like an immense green velvet blanket, the plain of Crozes Hermitage stretches as far as the eye can see. Wandering in free wheel will perhaps lead you to one of the numerous wine cellars. Halfway you will begin to see the purple grape replaced by the blue water of the rivers Rhône and Isère as you ride along on safe cycling routes. Head north towards “Domaine Breyton” for 900m then follow the sign to Chanos Curson. 1. 1,9 km Turn left onto “chemin de Compostelle”. 2. 3,2 km Turn right at the giveway sign then continue opposite at the following stop sign onto “chemin des Littes” to the centre of Chanos. 3. 5,4 km Turn left onto “route du Riou” continue for 400m then turn right onto “chemin de Veaunes and immediately left “chemin des Odouards”. 4. 6,6 km Turn right onto “route des Pends” to Mercurol. 5. 8,5 km Follow the D115 towards Veaunes.6. 10,8 km Turn left onto “route des charmes”. 7. 11,4 km Turn right at the stop sign after the church then left onto “rue de l’eau vive” then left agein. 8. 12,1 km Turn right onto “route des sources”. 9. 13,3 km Turn right onto “route des vignes de la cure” then first left onto “route du Mont-Laurent”. 10. 15,3 km Turn left at the stop sign, immediately left onto “rue du côteau” then left again at the following stop sign onto “rue des pierres”. 11. 16,1 km Turn left at the stop sign onto “route de Romans” then follow the signs Châteauneuf-sur-Isère at the roundabout. 12. 17,8 km Turn left onto “chemin de la plaine”. 13. 18,7 km Turn left at the 2 giveway signs. 14. 19,7 km Straight on at the giveway sign following signs for Saint-Jean then turn left onto “route des collines”. 15. 21,1 km Turn right at the stop sign onto “route de Romans” then at the roundabout straight on “route des champs”. 16. 23,3 km Turn right onto “route des pierres”. 17. 24,3 km Turn right onto “route du barrage” then follow the Vallée de l’Isère cycling route heading west to Pontde- l’Isère.18. 38,2 km Follow the ViaRhôna towards Tain. 19. 39,6 km Leave the ViaRhôna turning right onto a path through the woods. 20. 40,7 km Turn right at the stop sign then straight on at the roundabout. 21. 41,5 km Turn right towards Les Gours. 22. 43,3 km Turn left towards the “quartier “les pibouleries” then first left and first right. 23. 44,3 km Turn right at the giveway sign. 24. 45,7 km Turn left onto the Via Magne. 25. 46,2 km Go opposite onto the main road towards Tain. 26. 49 km Turn right onto “ch. de Chapon”. 27. 50,1 km Turn right at the stop sign then straight on at the following 2. 28. 52,2 km Turn right at the giveway sign then immediately left towards Chasselières then straight on to Beaumont-Monteux (don’t follow signs to Chassellières after left turn).

Going through plains and hills, along the rivers Rhône and Isère, enjoy the different landscapes of vineyards and orchards that shape the character of the region. A sporty outing however it remains accessible to all levels. 1 - 0 km Starting from Tain l'Hermitage, the trail climbs up through the Hermitage hillsides giving you an exceptional view over both Valleys of the rivers Rhône and Isère. It then continues along the road on the plateau overlooking the ‘défilé de Saint Vallier” a succession of curves in the majestic Rhône river. 2 – 4.6 km Between dells, glens and gentle hills, the trail heads slowly towards the village of Larnage. 3 – 13.5 km Along the way you will go up and down the hills of Drôme to the Roches qui Dansent (dancing rocks). 4 – 22.1 km An easy journey towards Chantemerle les Blés, with its Roman church offering a remarkably decorative display, before coming to the first hilly areas on the way to Veaunes where you can admire the plains of Herbasse. 5 – 30.5 km After the village of Chanos Curson a route heads south downhill between vineyards and orchards before reaching the banks of the river Isère. 6 – 37.3 km From Châteauneuf sur Isère, the cycling track Vallée de l’Isère (V63) will take you to the edge of the river then along to Pont de l’Isère. 7 – 44.9 km The route follows the river Rhône as far as Tain l’Hermitage (leading to the ViaRhôna).

You will never tire of looking at the rooftops and impressive Rhône river and how they intertwine, as you walk up the hillside overlooking Tournon sur Rhône. Follow quai Farconnet all the way then go onto the rue du Doux, running parallel at the back of the houses. Carry on along the road and under the railway line. 1 - Tournon sur Rhône - 124 m Follow Saint Jacques 500m Pierre 3.2 km Go up the steep path (GR42a) leading to steps going up to the tour de Pierregourde. The track goes past the watchtower then zigzags along the hillside. 2 - Saint Jacques - 220 m Follow Pierre 2.7 km Plats 10.5 km Follow the path indicating the chapelle viewpoint then after 20m turn left up a few steps onto a path. The narrow track climbs up through boxwood and acacia trees and takes you as far as the viewpoint. Leave the viewpoint to follow the route de Pierre. 3 - Chapon - 325 m Follow Tournon sur Rhône 1.4 km Head down the path and as soon as it starts going uphill take the downhill slope to your left becoming a small track. Follow the track downhill to a wider lane then go along vineyards, on old terraces, until you find yourself below the Tour de Hôpital. Go down then turn left onto the road leading down to Tournon. After the old hospital climb down the steps on the left then turn left and follow the street running below the old hospital taking you to Saint Julien square and the tourist office.

A great family outing almost all the time on safe tracks, along the river Rhône on both banks in Drôme and Ardèche. Head south on the ViaRhona cycling track along the river and cross over on the footbridge.  1 – 0.7 km Follow the cycling trail signs taking you to the edge of the river then go onto the ‘voie verte’ called Chabelet along the Rhône joining up with the ViaRhôna again further down. 2 - 9 km Follow the cycling track back up towards Tournon sur Rhône and the starting point.

This trail is quite difficult therefore more suitable for the more experienced cyclist. The few uphill sections are steep and the downhill ones, although thrilling, are technical at the same time. Enjoy some magnificent tracks after the strenuous climb uphill towards the start. Take the time for a short detour to visit the chapel and admire the view over the valleys of Hermitage and area around Tournon. Going through vineyards, the terrific downhill section that follows is very technical. Go round the car park and under the railway bridge then turn right. 1 - Chemin de l'Hermitage - 125 m Continue ahead towards the winery (cave à vin). The uphill climb starts on the D241 to your left : Careful traffic ! On the bend come off the road onto the path straight ahead. About 500m further on, before the bend, turn right onto the steep uphill track. Once at the top turn right onto the lane. Follow the signs towards Larnage on the D241 : Careful traffic !2 - Larnage - 207 mIn the centre of the village turn left towards Crozes Hermitage then right uphill on the road towards the housing estate. The road then becomes a track. When you reach the road, turn right and carry on. 3 - Les Méjeans - 348 m Continue ahead. 4 - Les Méjeans Nord - 350 m Take the road on the left and continue for about 200m. Turn left onto the path : a pleasant, fast downhill slope through woodland with no particular difficulty. 5 - Val de Gervans - 190 m Turn left and continue downhill on the wide track. 6 - Gervans Rue du Ruisseau - 140 m Continue ahead.7 - Gervans - 140 m Turn left.8 - Chemin des Voussères - 130 m Take the path on the left going along the railway track for about 1km and leading to the D163. Turn left onto the D163 : Careful traffic ! Head for Crozes Hermitage.9 - Crozes Hermitage - 145 m Just before the bridge, near the townhall, take the road to your right. 10 - Les Pinets Here, the uphill trail starts along the heights of the town of Tain l’Hermitage 11 - L'Hermite - 239 m Continue ahead. Further on, the road becomes track. At the following junction carry on ahead along the path. Enjoy the beautiful panorama here. The downhill section is quite technical going through fields and heading towards Tain l’Hermitage. 12 - Chemin de l'Hermitage - 125 m Turn right back onto the same road as the beginning of the trail and head back to the Velodis car park.

Beautiful views over the Rhône Valley and Vivarias hillsides. Go up the road Bois de l’Europe going round the park then under the railway bridge. Turn right onto the path Hermitage 1 - Chemin de l'Hermitage - 125 m Carry on opposite until you get to the Cave de Tain. Go up the D241 for about 200m. On the bend between small stone walls, a paved path takes you up along a vineyard. Quite a distance on, just before the end of the stone wall on the left (opposite an opening in the wall), follow the path going down into a gulley. Continue and go under a rock shelter before an uphill path takes you through undergrowth and past vineyards. 2 - L'Hermite - 239 m Turn left at the junction. The road soon becomes a track. Go past the houses and down through the vineyard along a water retention pond (go round the left side) After a few metres on your right a red square sign indicates the beginning of a windy narrow, downhill path towards vines. Careful going down, the path is narrow and sometimes slippy. Further down there are two cabins : go towards the one on the right and turn left onto a wide path with paving stones a little further on until you get to the road. 1 - Chemin de l'Hermitage - 120 m Turn right and retrace the route back to the starting point.

An easy walk through the hillsides of Mercurol offering beautiful views over the valley of Tain l'Hermitage, Chanos Curson and the château of Conflans with the tower of Mercurol keeping watch overhead. Head up to the church. 1 - Eglise - 200 m Go up to the watchtower then towards the hillside les Pends. Go along the edge of the plateau (ignoring the paths on your left) and along vineyards, part of the Mercurol terroir carrying the Crozes Hermitage appellation. Go under the high-voltage cable then to the left of a reservoir. Turn right and go downhill. When you get to the road turn left along the wall of the château de Conflans. Turn right to the cemetery. 2 - Conflans - 180 m Follow the road to the left after the cemetery for 250m. When you get to the hamlet Maubet bear right then, at the end of the road, go right up a grass path. You come out onto a path cutting across. 3 - Bredoux  237 m Turn left onto the path and when you get to the end follow the small lane on your left taking you to the cemetery. 4 - Veaunes cemetery - 250 m Turn left here 5 - Veaunes - 247 m Turn left again onto the D115 and after 300m on the bend, turn right onto the chemin de Taillas heading uphill to the right. 6 - Marion - 260 m When you get to a section through undergrowth and levelling off at the crossroads Marion, take the path on the left. Go alongside vineyards. 7 - Champ du Mas - 228 m When you come out of the woods continue ahead until you reach the road. Go down to the D115 (190m). Turn right then left onto route de la Baume. On the bend turn right onto a path through undergrowth then along the road leading back to the village of Mercurol.

All along the route along these waterways, you'll be able to observe a whole world of exceptional animals and plants, right in the heart of the city. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. You'll enjoy the freshness of this bucolic stroll, and see a wealth of fauna (frogs, dragonflies, trout) and flora (calltriches, potamots, rubanier): a veritable corridor for biodiversity. Leaving from the Tourist Office. Cross the crosswalk at the Fontaine Monumentale. Take rue Sévigné and turn left at rue du Refuge. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

Once a fisherman's village, now an islet! Traditional fishermen's stone cottages and listed monuments, history has left some memorable sites in the old village centre on the banks of the River Rhône. Two listed historic monuments in the heart of the village: the Tour Diane de Poitiers and the Porte Roussillon. Teaching place since the Renaissance: the "collège" was founded in 1536 by the Cardinal of Tournon, high-school since 1548. Called Gabiel Faure becauce of a local literay man. Including a tapestries galery, a rich historical library and some paintings. Cardinal François de Tournon founded the college in his town in 1536. it was not until 1548 that the first stone of the building was laid; the Collège de Tournon took just six years to complete. In 1552, the institution became a University of Philopsophy and the Seven Liberal Arts. In 1551, François de Tournon entrusted his college to the Society of Jesus, making it the first French Jesuit teaching establishment and a means of countering Protestantism through education in the Scriptures. The buildings of the Collège were transformed. In 1560, a chapel was added to the north and a fifth building to the east of the four main buildings and the bell tower dating from 1554. A medicinal herb garden completed the college's layout untill April 3rd 1714. This was the date of a terrible fire. Far from discouraging the Jesuits, they continued their renovations. A third floor was added to the main building. Construction of a new chapel ( begun in 1673) was completed. The new chapel was larger than the old one, providing a more dignified setting for the Cardinal's remains and the faithful. The Jesuits were expelled from the College in 1762 and replaced by an administration office. Tournon became a Royal Military School, which ensured its longevity. In 1776, the Royal Military School ofr Paris was reformed. Twelve establishments in the kingdom retained the priviledge of training soldiers. The new administrators were the Oratorians. As the existing boarding school was deemed too small to accomodate the students, new buildings were constructed and work was undertaken. The Revolution and the events that followed did little to change the life of the college, apart from the fact that there was no longer any need to mention it as a royal college and the Military School section was abolished at the start of the Academic year in 1793. In 1819, the school once again became a royal college, under the supervision of the Minister of the Interiror: attached to the university, it was first gibven the tittle of Collège Communal and then that of College Royal de troisième classe. The college became the Imperial Lycee and then the Lycée under the Restoration. The Construction of the Rhone dykes in the mid-19th century altered the buildings, as evidenced by the cureent two-storey Cour des classes, the ground floor of which is located under Route Nationale 86. A few years earlier, the Grand Corridor and the lare terrace known as the Infirmary had been built. At the end of the century, part of the lycee grounds were amputated, allowing the construction of the girls lycée, Collège Mare Curie since 1998. It was over 400 years ago that the Lycee de Garçon got its baptismal name: that of a man from Tournon who worked actively to protect, maintain and preserve it. In 1967, it became the Lycee Gabriel Faure. Over the course of the 20th century, the school underwent further transformations with the construction of buildings D ( science buildings), E ( classrooms and new boarding school) and the gymnasium. Since the early 2000s, the lycee had been undergoing restructuring. In addition to the buildings, work has also been carried out on the grounds. Notably, the thirty-three metre long disused swimming pool has been filled in. All that remains of the work carried out in the park since 1781 are a few plane trees, which are now listed as historic monuments, and an idea of the size of the area at the time.

The construction of this chapel lasted from 1673 to 1720. The plans were designed by the architect Martellange from Lyon. The facade is "Jesuit classic" style (classic). It is made of sandstone, which gives it its color. The work took a long time because it was often stopped. The workers , due to religion wars, were usually commandeered to fortify the ramparts. 1673- The first stone was settled. 1707 - Installation of the choir balustrade, altar steps and flagstones 1713: Construction of the bell tower. The facade is in the classical Jesuit style, built in molasse, which gives it its colour. It is very elegant with its Doric columns at the base and composite at the top. The interior, with a total length of 26 metres, is in the Renaissance style. The great nave is flanked by chapels and the whole is decorated in trompe l'oeil, which means that this style is sometimes confused with 18th century Baroque. side galleries run above the chapels. The acoustics are remarkable, enhancing the sound of the classical organ installed in the 18th century.
