By taking advantage of a quick transfer by TER train, one can envisage a beautiful bike ride along the Basque coast. The itinerary begins in the heart of Guéthary, with a balcony overlooking its small port where the memory of the whale hunters from the 12th to the 14th century hovers in the air, as fishing is anchored in the Getarian soul. The coastal cliffs are full of lookouts over the ocean, once used by whale and ship watchers, which the tour proposed here does not fail to compile in a magnificent two-wheeled stroll. A first loop visits the inland and discreetly reaches the neighboring town of Bidart. Heritage, beaches and villas follow one another until passing through Guéthary. The second part of the itinerary flirts with the coastal path, towards Saint-Jean-de-Luz by the beaches of Acotz, on lanes dedicated to bicycles.

As it approaches the Atlantic Ocean, the Bidassoa River settles in the bay of Chingoudy (Txingudi) and mixes its fresh waters coming down the Navarrese mountains with the salted tides. Since the 1659 treaty, the riverbed has been a natural border between France and Spain. On the right bank are the French cities of Urrugne and Hendaye and on the left bank are the Iberian one, Irun and Hondarribia. This bike tour proposes to visit both banks of the Bidassoa estuary and to ride around the unique Chingoudi bay, a place where borders have been crossed since the dawn of time and which people dreams of. One of the most beautiful promontories of the Basque coast, halfway between Sainte-Barbe and Erromadie, at the top of two flysch cliffs, a kind of mille-feuille alternating hard and soft rocks. This place is known under the name of Archiloa which means "stone with a hole" in Basque language; a cross is set up there. The place is classified as a Sensitive Natural Area.

Built in 1643 by a rich ship-owner, this house welcomed the young King Louis XIV for several months in 1660 when he came to sign the Treaty des Pyrénées and marry the Spanish Infanta Marie Thérèse in the Church of Saint Jean de Luz. The apartments in this splendid private house occupied by the King are open to the public who may admire the furniture and paintings from this epoch. Superb staircase. Since 2006, wax characters from the Grevin museum in St Jean de Luz may be viewed.

The port of Saint-Jean-de-luz was one of the great fishing ports of France. There was the heyday of whale and cod fishing. At that time, the rich shipowners built the most beautiful houses which today make the charm of the city. Then the port acquired its notoriety with the sardine and tuna fishing. Several boats (baitboats and pole-and-line vessels) have left their mark on the history of Basque fishing. Today, the fishing port is home to a quality artisanal fishing industry concerned with preserving the resource. The Saint-Jean-de-Luz hake is representative of this approach.

A convent was built in 1611 by the franciscan monks of the branch of récollets on a small island in the middle of the Nivelle whose property had never been determined. The chapel was ended in 1613 then the convent in 1643. In the center of the court of the convent, a well-tank was built in 1662 thanks to the generosity of cardinal Mazarin on the occasion of the marriage of Louis XIV. In 1791, the monks were hunted by the Revolutionaries.

The church Saint Vincent becomes parish church in1573, it is distinguished by its octogonal bell tower pagoda-shaped. The main door "end of renaissance era" framed by fluted columns with ionic capitals carried out in 1888 such as the interior restoration of the church.
