This is a lovely walk through the Sologne woods where you can often encounter game and wild animals. Sainte-Montaine is the smallest village in the Sauldre and Sologne territory. Very little is known about that Saint after whom the village was named. According to a legend, some mirraculous water springs at the Belle Fontaine (the Fine Fountain) which is the last stop of a pastoral pilgrimage on Whit Mondays amidst a lovely setting.

In the heart of a large agricultural region where this route discovers some aspects, Egreville presents a remarkable hall, as well as the castle where Jules Massenet lived and the Bourdelle Garden-Museum. This route is marked in yellow by the Coderando. 1 - Take the D 30 to the left (west) for 300 m, the road to the right, the street to the right for 100 m, then the road to the left, straight (old railway line) 2 - Take the road to the right (Bourdelle museum). It crosses, towards the east, Le Coudray then Les Murs. Cut the D 219 and continue on the opposite road for 500 m. Follow the road to the left and, after 800 m, the road to the right. 3 - Before the wood, take the road to the left and then the road to the left. At the crossroads, continue on the opposite road, cross the Chapelle-des-Tuilliers. The road veers to the right, along the edge. Leave her when she leaves for the path bordering the wood. Follow to the left the D 69a on 100m then the road to the right in the valley over 1,2 km. 4 - Continue to the right by the road that goes up the valley of Les Noues, first on the edge and then in the undergrowth. 5 - At the crossing on the edge, take the road to the right and enter the Brandelle wood. Pass in front of the cross of the Postman then at the second crossroads, turn left, right, and left. The path leaves the wood. After the Ferme du Cochon, continue straight on the small road, then on the road to the right. 6 - Before Le Ruth, take the straight road to the right (old railway track). It crosses the road, leads to Égreville. At the crossroads, take the road opposite, keep left, then follow the D 219 to the right to reach the starting point.

The covered market replaces the one that disappeared in the fire of 1282 at the end of the 15th century. It was modified in the 17th century to stabilize it. A span was removed to build a hard limestone gable. The weekly market is always there. As well as the traditional fat poultry fair (it has existed for more than 90 years) which takes place on the second Saturday of December each year.

Saint-Martin Church is located in the heart of the village of Egreville. It is built on the foundations and some walls of an earlier chapel that disappeared in a large fire in the 13th century. It was damaged during the hundred-year war and rebuilt in the 15th century. The belfry that served as a watchtower is attached to the church in the sixteenth century and becomes its main entrance. The arrow is added in the seventeenth.

After seven years of work, the Turkish boudoir of Marie-Antoinette and Josephine opened again his doors in May 2015. Marie-Antoinette’s turkish boudoir Hidden in an entresol of the castle over the ceremonial room of the queen, the Turkish boudoir was the intimacy space of Marie-Antoinette in Fontainebleau. Fitted out in 1777 on plans of the architect Richard Mique and decorated by the brothers Rousseau, it shows the luxurious preferences of the old regime for the Oriental style. After the Revolution, all the furniture of the boudoir have been changed to establish the Empress Josephine’s private bedroom. The place have been decorated with Jacob-Desmalter’s creations adorned with precious fabrics. Alcove, mirrors, curtains driven by pulleys ... this exceptional ensemble has been restored thanks to the support of INSEAD and the generosity of the subscribers of the operation. They have been very helpful for Fontainebleau. The restoration work on the boudoir has focused on its painted decorations and its precious furniture made of fabrics woven with gold. Particularly fragile, the Turkish boudoir is now integrated into a new tour dedicated to the privacy of sovereigns in Fontainebleau The guided visit of the Turkish boudoir can ONLY be done in groups of seven people maximum. The Château de Fontainebleau is a big part of French history! This vast building, in both classical and Renaissance style, is not only famous for witnessing Napoleon's imperial adventure. From the royal charter of 1137 to the fall of the Second Empire in 1870, the Palace of Fontainebleau saw the lives of the greatest French sovereigns from day to day. The original medieval fortress was replaced by a Renaissance palace under the guiding hand of Francois I. At that time, two Italian artists, Primaticcio and Il Rosso vied in talent and founded the first School of Fontainebleau. The Galerie François I, which leads from the royal apartments to the chapel of the Convent of the Holy Trinity, is most original with its décor of frescoes, stucco and carved wood in praise of François I. The Ballroom was completed at the time of the last Valois kings, under Primaticcio’s direction. With Henri IV, the new Bourbon dynasty took over the palace, and built new rooms with interior decoration placed in the hands of the artists of the second School of Fontainebleau. Louis XIII completed the work started by his father. Under the Sun King Fontainebleau continued to be the royal family home, and the Grand Dauphin was born there in 1661. The king’s nieces were married from Fontainebleau, and the Edict of Nantes was revoked there in 1685. Louis XV and Louis XVI would spend the autumn there and initiated new, large scale building works and interior doing-ups. After the French Revolution, Napoleon I found the palace completely emptied of its furniture but intact. He undertook to refurnish the apartments and brought the palace back to its former glory as the home of the sovereign. Napoleon Bonaparte spent his last days there before his abdication in 1814 and departure for the Elba. Louis-Philippe was the first sovereign to order a complete restoration of Fontainebleau. The restoration of the Empire in 1852 gave renewed importance to the palace, and Napoleon III became strongly attached to this home, staying there regularly with his court. Housed in the Louis XV wing, the Napoleon I museum is dedicated to the Emperor and his family, with a large collection of objects from his everyday life, weapons used in military campaigns and gifts he received. The Chinese museum, created by Empress Eugenie, displays works of art from the Far East. The Jeu de Paume court, thought to be the oldest of the three surviving in France, is open to the public with demonstrations and introductory games. Le Nôtre's French gardens, the Queen’s English garden with its Fountain of Diana, the hedge maze and the Cour des Adieux are open to the public all year round. Boat excursions on the Etang aux Carpes or horse-drawn carriage rides are available. The Domain of the Fontainebleau Palace is inscribed at the UNESCO Humanity World Heritage. There is a little train going around the gardens during the touristic season.

Béraud and Robert Stuart, formerly Lords of Aubigny, contemporaries of Leonardo da Vinci, built the Aubigny castle in the XVIth century. Visit without delay the Interpretation Center of the Auld Alliance which is located in the enclosure of the castle to learn more about this incredible story that links Aubigny-sur-Nère to Scotland !

One of the most beautiful and one of the oldest house of Aubigny-sur-Nère, built in 1519 after a big fire (1512). Nowedays, it welcomes the art gallery François 1er where you will appreciate multiple exhibitions.

The Maison Victorine offers a journey through time to discover Aubigny. Annuals exhibitions present souvenirs and objects collected by the population. Open from April to September.

This church is attested from the IXth century, it is dedicated to Saint-Martin (bishop of Tours in the IVth century). During the Hundred Years War, the church was burnt down by the English twice (in 1356 then in 1412). The side chapels and the choir were built by Robert Stuart, following the fire of 1512. A keystone bears his coat of arms and could be dated to the years 1517-1527.

An orphan shepherdess who became a seamstress before reaching literary glory (Marie-Claire, Prix ​​Fémina 1910): Marguerite Audoux (1863-1937) had an astonishing destiny, that her museum traces over 240 square meters, with a completely new scenography.

Sainte-Montaine, healer of all ailments and abbess in the region, gave her name to the village and its church. The legend speaks of a beautiful miraculous fountain on the edge of the village which would make all child-seeking couples fertile. The church is closed to the public.

A legend says that one day a young maid came back from the fountain and did not see the brambles at her feet, stumbled and broke her pitcher. Yet it was necessary to return to the house where reigned a bad boss. Angry, this one reproached the servant for her clumsiness and, to mock her, sent her back to fetch water with a wicker basket. The girl obeyed, her tears fell into the fountain... But in all confidence, imploring the Saint, she plunged into water her wicker basket, and MIRACLE ! The basket retained water like the most waterproof bucket and on the path, the brambles were gone forever... You won't find a single one today. So the water from the fountain is said to be miraculous ! Montaine has since become the patron saint of Sologne.

In the middle of the woods, the ford at the hamlet of Barbigny is a real refreshing stop for hikers. There is a pleasant ford in the hamlet of Barbigny where the Betz flows, ideal for picnics with family and friends.

This French river in the departments of Yonne, Loiret and Seine-et-Marne is a right bank tributary of the Loing. It is therefore also a sub-tributary of the Seine and has a total length of 34.41 km. Its source is south of Domats and it flows into the Loing at Dordives. Its flow was observed over a period of 13 years (1996-2008) at Bransles, a town in the Seine-et-Marne department located a short distance from its confluence with the Loing. The river's catchment area is 157 km2 (almost the entirety of the catchment area). The modulus of the river at Bransles is 0.653 m3/s.
