Aubigny-sur-Nère, Small City of Character and "Ville Fleurie" (flowers distinction in a city), is a Scottish city in France. It maintains its close links with Scotland during the Franco-Scottish Festivals which take place each year around July 14. For a weekend, kilts bagpipes and pipe bands invade the City of the Stuarts to celebrate the Auld Alliance.

Start and finish at the castle. From the rue du Prieuré in the centre of town, continue along the Rue des Dames (you will see the Maison dite de François 1er and Saint Martin's church on your right).
At the crossroads of La Route de Bourges (D940) turn right on the D30 in the direction of Vierzon. When you come to the "champ de Mars", go up the steps and cut across the green to the "sentier des Naudins" and follow the path up to the EDF centre on the corner of the "Chemin de la Gariole".
Go up this path on your left to come back out on to the "Route de Bourges" (D940). Continue along the D940 and then turn right on to the "Chemin de Bouzy".
After "les Petits Valots", go up the path on your left towards "La Ferme des Velluets" (a farm). Walk around the farm in the direction of the Route de Bourges. Cross the route de Bourges to reach the country path (CR de la Paroisse). Follow this path for about 800 metres, then take the CR on the left in the direction of Miéfou and just before you come to the farm, turn left on to the CR de Mahys.
From there, continue towards Aubigny-sur-Nère. After you pass "les Forts" and "les Carroirs", take the second CR on the right towards "Moulin du Bois" (a mill). You will reach le Moulin du Bois after crossing the D89 and then the Nère river.
After the Moulin du Bois you will see the CR des Marnières which takes you back to the entrance to the swimming pool car park. Cross the cark park to reach the little pond. Go round it on the right until you come to the steps which enable you to reach the large pond near the litthe bar on stilts.
Go round the second pond on the right and go down the steps to come back to the swimming pool car park.
Cross the road to come out on to the path that meanders alongside the Nère river and comes out on to a large car park.
Turn right over the footbridge into la Ruelle des Prés, turn left, then turn right past la Chaumière and cross the Great Gardens to go back to the castle.
Discover the Centre d'Interprétation de l'Auld Alliance situated at the ground floor of the Stuarts' Castle. Learn and improve your knowledges on the history that links Aubigny to Scotland thanks to this playful and interactive visit.
One of the most beautiful and one of the oldest house of Aubigny-sur-Nère, built in 1519 after a big fire (1512). Nowedays, it welcomes the art gallery François 1er where you will appreciate multiple exhibitions.
The Maison Victorine offers a journey through time to discover Aubigny. Annuals exhibitions present souvenirs and objects collected by the population. Open from April to September.
Béraud and Robert Stuart, formerly Lords of Aubigny, contemporaries of Leonardo da Vinci, built the Aubigny castle in the XVIth century. Visit without delay the Interpretation Center of the Auld Alliance which is located in the enclosure of the castle to learn more about this incredible story that links Aubigny-sur-Nère to Scotland !
This church is attested from the IXth century, it is dedicated to Saint-Martin (bishop of Tours in the IVth century). During the Hundred Years War, the church was burnt down by the English twice (in 1356 then in 1412). The side chapels and the choir were built by Robert Stuart, following the fire of 1512. A keystone bears his coat of arms and could be dated to the years 1517-1527.
