The Seythenex plateau offers a variety of villages and hamlets typical of the Haute-Savoie landscape. A hike starting from the Val de Tamié parking lot. The Charmes de Seythenex loop is an easy half-day hike. The hike takes in the Seythenex plateau and the hamlet of Les Combes with its chapel.

Standing 45 metres high, the Seythenex Waterfall is located within a natural site designated as a Geosite. This refreshing spot offers visitors the opportunity to experience the power of the waterfall up close while enjoying its preserved natural surroundings. Extend your visit by exploring the Seythenex Cave, the only cave open to the public in Haute-Savoie. Guided tours last approximately 35 minutes.

This fairly challenging hike will allow you to enjoy magnificent views of Lake Annecy, Mont Blanc, and the Bauges Mountains, set against a backdrop of forests and alpine meadows. This trail crosses the National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve. Hike starting from Saint-Ruph in Faverges-Seythenex up to the Servaz Refuge, with a viewpoint overlooking Lake Annecy.

A cool and shaded downhill trail in the heart of the Bauges Mountains between La Sambuy and Faverges. Track n°6 - RED 11.2km D+/- : 110 m/750 m Start from the far end of the carpark at the La Sambuy ski resort; follow the orange MTB markings for trail n°6. Enjoy spectacular views of the Bornes and Aravis Mountains as you enter the forest heading towards Pont de St Ruph Bridge. After several steep sections one after the other, turn right at a sharp curve. Continue riding straight as the terrain flattens. You will then arrive at the 1st road crossing with D112 road. Ride alongside the road for 200m and then turn left into the forest. At the 2nd road crossing, cross the road and ride by a chalet. Be sure to look up to enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains. After the 3rd road crossing, make a sharp left on the trail. Continue for a while along the trail, ride across a concrete bridge over Saint Ruph creek, and then if so inclined stop to cool off. Ride uphill until the next intersection and then turn right onto the dirt road. Follow signs to Glaise. Ride past the scree field on your left, and then along the curve veer left onto the trail that heads uphill. This is a narrow technical section with roots. In Glaise, continue riding down the road and turn left and then right onto a path bordering an open field. Pass through two livestock gates. From Favergettes, ride towards the rugby field. Continue riding along the fence until you reach the Digue sign («boulodrome»), then turn left and continue riding along the old wall. At «Caves du Chateau» turn left onto the home straight that leads to the Carré des Tisserands carpark. LOOKING FOR MORE Start your descent from the top of the chairlift at the summit of the La Sambuy ski resort and then link up with trail n°6. STILL WANT MORE From the Carré des Tisserands carpark, continue riding to Doussard Beach via loop n°1.

The route initially skirts the foothills of the Crêt de Chambellon. After a short, easy climb, you'll be able to admire a beautiful panorama, nestled on this island overlooking the plain of the Sources du Lac d'Annecy. Take time to contemplate the long ridges of the Massif des Bauges on one side, descending from Arcalod and Trélod towards Doussard; on the other, the southern part of the Aravis with Mont Charvin. The whole of the Faverges plain stretches out before your eyes, and the view of the Château and its distinctive keep is breathtaking.

Challenging hike from the Sambuy parking lot up to the Petite Sambuy. Exceptional panorama over the Bauges Massif, the Aravis Massif, and the Mont-Blanc Massif.

Moderate difficulty hike starting from the Sambuy parking lot. The route leads to the Chalet de l’Aulp or Lô de Seythenex—“alpage” in Savoyard dialect—where you can enjoy views of the Bauges Massif, the Aravis Massif, and Lake Annecy. Owned by the Abbey of Tamié from the 12th century, the Aulp de Seythenex alpine pasture is now the property of the Couchant communal section of Faverges-Seythenex. The buildings date back to the 19th century. During the summer, the chalets are occupied by an alpine herder, who manages a herd of goats or cows depending on the year. This trail crosses the National Hunting and Wildlife Reserve. Inaugurated in April 1912, the Seythenex bridge is constituted of four stone arches covered by steel-reinforced concrete. 125 m long and 53 m high, it was a pioneering design of modern 20th C. architecture.

Hike accessible in any season except in times of snow (between December and March). Follow the signs to "Crêt de Chambellon" starting from the carré des Tisserands. A path leads to the Castle of Faverges through a staircase. The route is signed up to the top (730m high) where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the town and its surroundings. To come back down, take the pylon path you followed on your way there. You can also make a return hike to the real culminating point (733m high). On this side, you can enjoy a view of the Mont-Charvin and part of Les Bauges. Follow the yellow arrows on a green background leading to Verchères and Faverges in 35 minutes.

This monumental heritage dates from the 13th century and is located between the Savoie County and Geneva County. The team of the Viuz-Faverges archaeological museum invites you to enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the tower. The imposing Keep was a 360° control station towering over the surrounding valleys. Purchased by the town of Faverges in 1980, part of its buildings was used as an accomodation centre. The Keep - registered on the Historical Monuments' additional list in 1991 - was restored and provided with a circular hoard inaugurated in 2008.

Learn about the lime industry of yore in an educational tour of the recently restored lime kilns of Cons-Sainte-Colombe, located between Annecy and Ugine. This industry provided construction materials for the entire area until the late 19th Century. The museographical space is delicately embedded in the restored vestiges. The layout with mountain materials is consciously humble and contemporary. The project won the award for Patrimoine rhônalpin in 2006.

Tamié abbey, still houses more than thirty Cistercian monks who continue to make one of the savoie’s famous cheeses: Tamié. Surrounded by grazing goats and dairy cows, the chalet enjoys outstanding views over Lake Annecy on one side and Arcalod Peak on the other. An ideal stop for hikers, the refuge is the perfect place to rest, enjoy a meal, or spend the night in a traditional shared dormitory with a communal dining room. Visitors can also purchase farmhouse cheeses produced on site, including Tomme, Sérac and Reblochon.

Nestling amid green mountain pastures at 1,000 metres above sea level, the 200 year-old walls of La Chavane stand in the peaceful hamlet of Plan Montmin. Nearby, the Forclaz Pass offers an exceptional panoramic view over Lake Annecy. Catherine and Benoît are pleased to welcome you all year round in the Massif des Bornes-Aravis, not far from the Massif des Bauges, in an old mountain farm typical of the region. Four spacious and cosy rooms, each with private bathroom and separate toilet, can accommodate up to 3 people (one of them 4). A large common living room with a large work or game table and a cosy reading corner with numerous books and board games is available to guests. A table d'hôtes meal is occasionally possible for groups and on reservation. Only 5 minutes away, the Col de la Forclaz, a paragliding and hang-gliding paradise, also well known to cyclists and hikers, offers an unforgettable view of Lake Annecy. Mountain walks and hikes, canyoning, paragliding and hang-gliding from the Forclaz pass, swimming and water sports on Lake Annecy... The most beautiful outdoor activities are within easy reach of La Chavane du Plan. Located at an altitude of 1,572 metres in the Bauges Massif, this mountain farm refuge enjoys breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. Marie and Stéphane welcome visitors to an authentic alpine setting, where goats and sheep graze nearby, and invite you to sample the organic cheeses produced on the farm. The refuge serves traditional Savoyard cuisine prepared with farm produce, including the daily farmhouse platter featuring goat's or sheep's cheese, local cured meats, salad, and a homemade dessert. The refuge is a stop on the Tour du Lac d'Annecy GRP hiking trail and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding mountains. Popular hikes include Pointe de Banc Plat, Mont Trélod, Croix du Roy, La Combe, and the multi-day Tour de la Dent des Portes from Bellecombe-en-Bauges, with an overnight stop at the refuge. The refuge can be reached from Lathuile (Saury), Doussard (Combe d'Ire), Bellecombe-en-Bauges (Le Reposoir), or from Chevaline via the parking area signposted "Cascade du Trou de l'Enfer". During the winter season, the refuge is open on a self-catering basis only and is managed by the Municipality of Lathuile.
