The baroque buildings bear witness to the Catholic Counter-Reformation led by Bishop Saint François de Sales against Protestantism between the 17th and 18th centuries. Julien is an engineer specialising in board sports, a mountain guide with a strong attachment to his region and an expert in mountain biking in all its forms. His aim is to take you on a unique adventure in the Mont Blanc region. Ambition Outdoor allows me to make the most of all the skills I've acquired over the years. It goes back quite a long way, in fact: my first night alone in the great outdoors was at the age of 6. Although my parents weren't much of hikers, they agreed to buy me a tent after I happened to look at the packaging of a supermarket product. I was simply fascinated! To think that this 30cm-long cylinder of synthetic fibre weighing just 2kg was a house! I'd never have believed at the time that this product would be part of the professional equipment I use in the summer months. After the tent, I discovered mountain biking at college in a rather special form: trials, a discipline that involves overcoming obstacles of various shapes and sizes using great dexterity. I quickly progressed in the three main mountain bike disciplines, winning numerous awards and even competing at national level. A sporting activity but also a means of transport with no limits other than our own, my passion for this tool has never waned. Then came the STAPS course, motivated by the desire to become a PE teacher. But the BAFA made me give up on this project, as the new youngsters were already starting to show a lack of respect for the teaching staff. So I went into the sports industry and got a Masters specialising in snow sports engineering. I became a project manager specialising in mountain bike development and then a web architect, but one skill was sorely lacking if I was to continue in this direction: English. So for three years I set off on a solo round-the-world trip with the aim of testing and helping to develop sports products in the areas I know best: trekking and mountain biking. I'm sharing all my adventures in two languages on my blog worldtour-outdoorexperience.com to keep in touch with those close to me, but also to maintain my digital skills and develop partnerships. Although this project seems to belong to another life, the experience gained during this period is still useful to me. Located in an isolated hamlet at 1200 m in altitude, the Montivon Chapel was built around 1660. All the inhabitants participated financially, but the patronage, meaning the responsibility to provide the money for its protection and upkeep, was provided by the Roch-Gindre family. Its patron saints are Saint Felix and Saint Roch, the latter protecting against the plague. The chapel was built parallel to the slope, much like several houses in the valley

The chapel in Bionnay is found on the road to Piémont through the Bonhomme Pass. It is a very important passageway in the valley. Today, the interior of the chapel is rather sparse. Its pillars and groined vaults are quaintly highlighted by murals. The elegant alter painting, by Decret de Bonneville, depicts The Virgin Annunciate.

The decision to build the chapel in Les Plans was made in 1681, but the building was not constructed until 1709. It started thanks to Joseph Mollard, priest and doctor in theology, originating from the hamlet of Les Plans. Located at 1100 m in altitude, it seems to be the work of a travelling architect originally from Valsesia in Piedmont. This chapel is small and squat. Its façade is decorated with medallion inscriptions that are also found on the interior ceiling, reflecting religious maxims or invitations to prayer

The chapel in Pratz was built in 1707 thanks to Nicolas Revenaz, a rich merchant born in Pratz who later moved to Vienna. Nicolas Revenaz came from a line of peddlers, itinerant merchants specialising in the cloth trade. He managed to accumulate a remarkable fortune, even becoming a bourgeois merchant with close ties to the imperial family of the Holy Roman Empire. Building a chapel was one of the most significant actions a Catholic could take to guarantee his eternal life.

The interior of the chapel contains beautifully preserved painted decorations on the walls, reflecting the images on the façade, as well as sculptures in the choir and ten18th-century paintings.

The Gollet Chapel was built in 1664 through financing from Nobleman Claude Dufresney. Its patron saints are Saint Anne, Saint Joseph and Saint Claude, a Bishop from the Jura region. There are two windows and an oculus on the façade which is protected by an eave decorated with lambrequins. A mission cross is planted in front and engraved with decorations and Latin inscriptions, evoking the 1826 mission that took place in Saint-Gervais.

Located on the ancient Roman Road travelling to the Voza Pass, the hamlet of Champel occupies a strategic position facing the area of Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce. The façade, protected by wide eaves, is blind except for the entrance door framed by granite jambs. Often refurbished, this chapel has now lost its old décor for a more functional, streamlined presentation, brightened up by two colourful contemporary stained-glass windows.
