Play the peddler of yesteryear by following one of the oldest mule tracks in the valley. The ascent to the hamlet of Ragairon reveals, in a forest landscape, beautiful traditional alpine houses and meadows full of flowers. The journey through time begins in Landry. This typical village is home to a jewel of Baroque art. Here you can admire the sublime bulbous bell tower of the church which, like all churches built on a promontory, bears the name of Saint-Michel. Then follow in the footsteps of the GR5, before reaching the start of the tour. You will go through several authentic villages, including Martorey and its superb listed column house, following one of the oldest mule tracks in the valley. In the past, peddlers used these routes to transport goods. Now you carry your own picnic! Refresh yourself at the bend in the Charbonnet stream before arriving at Ragairon, which signals its presence with its only chalet and mountain pasture stable. Stop to contemplate the clear view and watch the bees gathering flowers in the mountains. Another must-see stop before returning: the hamlet of Les Charmettes where it is not unusual to see cows grazing. One of the most beautiful onion dome from Tarentaise. Visible from a great distance, perched on a forest spur above the village, Landry's church indicates with infinitely charm the entrance of the valley of Ponturin. Reconstructed in 1687, dedicated to Saint Michel, it contains a remarkable beam of glory and very flowered vaults paintings. It offers St Michel's beautiful fresco painted outside above the hall. The old cemetery which surrounds the church is full of charm. A new cemetery was below opened.

A new type of orchard well worth exploring and experiencing on a tour of this scenic complex, located on a hillock overlooking the River Isère. Easy 600m walk with explanatory panels (30 mins) telling you about the different stages in an orchard's life cycle. Picnic tables available.With the help of the association "les croqueurs de pommes de Tarentaise Beaufortain", the municipality of Bourg-Saint-Maurice established this orchard to help safeguard a number of old fruit tree varieties in our region.

The Isère passes through Landry village. This beautiful river is the right place for rafting, hydrospeed, stand-up paddle ou canoë-raft fans and fishermen.

The Lac Noir Bog is 4,000 years old. Notices on the site tell you all about its formation and evolution and describe some of the abundant flora it contains. Access: * From Les Coches, go to the Orgère car park. The trail starts in front of the Intersport shop. From the car park, go to the right (SP) to the houses of Crévaillet. Go up the path (SP) that crosses an old canal to go up through the forest. The trail cuts across a mountain-bike trail (watch out!) and continues on a gentle slope. Cross the meadow and go slightly to the right (SP). After a series of sharp bends, the trail arrives at Lac Noir (SP). Walk along the Lake that looks like a marsh inhabited by mosquitoes, then fork to the left to join a forest road. Take this road to the left as far as the crossroads and go to the right to the chalet du Plein Soleil. The path then takes a left, joins the chairlift and after a short climb, arrives at Plan Bois. * If you go up to Plan Bois, the trail can then be done downhill (1h to 1h30). In the direction of the cable car, go to the left (SP). Follow the path that goes towards Bijolin station. Then cross to your left to see the Plein Soleil chalet (SP). Go down to the right on a wide track that turns left after about 200 metres. The trail then leaves the forest track (SP) and goes down to the right an quickly arrives at Lac Noir. Walk along the lake to the right and then go down the small road (SP). A pleasant track takes you down into the forest and then back to the left (SP). The track crosses the mountain bike trail (Watch out!). After crossing an old canal, the path joins the houses of Crévaillet. Now follow the little road to the car park (SP), and finally, the path that takes you to the centre of Les Coches. SP = Signpost

Fancy a picnic? Two tables await you on the Montchavin Snow Front. The site also includes ping-pong tables and pétanque (boules) pitches.

Between Grand Gondon and Landry, head out along the Sentier des vergers (orchards' trail), specifically between the Saint-Pantaléon and La Ballastière orchards. Fruit trees have been grown in Tarentaise for centuries, and the "meadow-orchard" tradition enabled a unique combination between fruit and livestock grazing. Apples and pears were grown near hamlets where the individual plots, with four or five trees in each, grouped together to form the patchwork "meadow-orchard" landscape where grass and fruit were nurtured side by side. The fruit was harvested in early October, before the cowherds and cows came back down from the highland pastures and montagnettes, small seasonal settlements. Once the cows were back, they could graze without the risk of choking on a fallen fruit. This system was also a natural way of fertilising the soil. The orchards were thus all planted in the open field with fairly high branches so as to allow the herds to roam around freely.

This hamlet contains a somewhat unusual red ochre edifice which is actually a former farmhouse dating back to the 19th century and decked out to resemble a château. It was once the property of the Jarre family, one of Le Versant’s biggest landowners. It is now privately owned.The balcony on its façade opened onto a hay barn. The windows had no frames and were left open to provide ventilation. The ground floor was composed of cellars and spacious stables, and housed the servants' families, who lived with the cows A member of the Jarre family who became an abbé and member of King Victor Emmanuel II’s court spent a few years in Turin and drew inspiration from the city’s palaces when he built the farmhouse.

This village is located on either side of the Isère, with some of its houses on the Versant du Soleil and the rest on the left bank of the Isère, also known as the “Revers”. A priory was built near the Church of Saint Andrew in the 11th century. The parish was one of the richest and most populated in the region and its religious and Baroque heritage is still very much on view in the municipality. The Church of Saint Andrew on Les Chemins du Baroque (www.savoie-mont-blanc.com/decouvrir/explorer/culture-et-patrimoine/les-chemins-du-baroque) bears witness to the many changes it has undergone over the centuries, although its exterior makes its Romanesque origins clear enough .The interior is characterised by a mixture of neoclassical architectural features, while the so-called “onion bulb” steeple shows Northern Piedmont influence. The steeple was knocked down in 1797 during the French Revolution and rebuilt in 1816 after Savoie became part of the Sardinian States. The cross in front of the church dates back to 1756. It is made of marble from Villette (near Aime), which is famous for its quality.Above the pediment, you can see a statue of a cockerel, the municipality of Bellentre’s emblem.Not far away, Notre Dame de la Compassion Chapel dates back to 1634, but little is known of its history. The stele nearby commemorates the sacrifices made by the village’s “poilus” (infantrymen) in the First World War. On the 1st floor, with direct access to the terrace, a large bright living space comprising a fully equipped kitchen, dining room and lounge area. On the mezzanine, you'll find 4 single beds and stunning views of the mountains. The main heating for the chalet is from a wood-burning stove in the living room. Thanks to a solar panel, you can enjoy electric light in every room of the chalet. The chalet does NOT have any electrical sockets. So, when you need to recharge your electrical devices, there are two solutions: use the battery in your car, or come to the city hall and leave them with us while you do the shopping or enjoy a stroll. At 1,547 in altitude, the Refuge de Rosuel is also known as the “refuge-porte” (gateway shelter) of the Vanoise National Park because it is both close to the heart of the Park and accessible via the road. Designed in 1971 by architect Christian Durupt, it features a wave-shaped roof set into the slope so as not to be buried under potential avalanches. In 2010, major upgrades were made to improve its comfort and brightness. The refuge is only looked after and open in the summer period. The ground floor is a reception and information point for the National Park.
