A Bruay, arrêtez-vous pour visiter le musée de la mine ou encore la Cité des Electriciens avant de poursuivre votre route. En chemin, vous verrez les terrils du pays à part. Faites un saut au parc d'Olhain ou continuez votre route jusqu'à Lens. Une fois là-bas, ne manquez pas la visite du musée du Louvre-Lens, ou encore la découverte des terrils jumeaux et de la base 11/19. Entre voies douces et voies partagées cette partie de l'EV5 traverse une partie du Bassin Minier avant de rejoindre le département du Nord.

Just a few kilometers from Arras lies the Bois de Maroeuil. A number of trails are available, including the Sittelle loop. Approximately 1.2 km in length, it is ideal for people with reduced mobility and the visually impaired.Along the way, you'll come across some remarkable trees, see the historic remains of the site, notably the sandstone extraction pits, and perhaps catch a glimpse of a deer or squirrel, both of which are very present on the site.In spring, daffodils and hyacinths brighten up the walk. Crossed by the Scarpe, the charming village of Savy-Berlette was created by the union of the communes of Savy and Berlette. Its château, built in 1706, became a convent in the early 19th century and has been home to an agricultural lycée since 1971. Its church, dedicated to Saint-Martin, was built on a feudal motte. It stands out for the elegance of its ashlar pyramid-shaped bell tower and its five-storey tower. Another imposing building is the former Debrique sugar factory, which closed in 1974. The village can be visited in eleven stages on the Discovery Walk.

Rendered tragically famous by WWI, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette is the largest French military cemetery. This ellipse-shaped monument is one of the largest memorials in the world, as it brings together 580,000 names presented in alphabetical order without distinction by nationality, thereby uniting friend and foe of yesteryear.

After the First World War, the hill of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette was chosen by the French Government to receive the remains of French soldiers from over 150 cemeteries on the fronts of Artois, Flanders, Yser and the Belgian coast. The site contains 20,000 graves and the remains of 22,000 unknown soldiers placed together in 8 ossuaries. Notre-Dame-de-Lorette is France’s biggest national necropolis. A basilica and a lantern tower have been built there. At the foot of this lantern tower, a crypt contains the coffins of 32 unknown soldiers from all the French wars of the twentieth century. The Ring of Remembrance: extending over almost 300 metres, the biggest engraved memorial in the world bears the names of the 580,000 soldiers, nurses and auxiliary workers, of all nationalities, who fell in Flanders and the Artois during the First World War.

Perched on a hill, Mont-Saint-Éloi is well known for the two ruined towers of its abbey, which dominate the entire plain. But it's also a very popular nature spot, surrounded by woods and small heritage treasures to be discovered on numerous walks.
