This route invites you on an initiatory journey by one of Western France’s most prestigious natural sites: the Roche d’Oëtre. This magnificent loop unveils a number of surprising landscapes, from the meanders of the Rouvre to the shaded country paths between Rapilly and Pierrepont, and via the Hère valley.

This short route is the ideal introduction to mountain biking in Suisse Normande. The Noireau river is the main thread running through the entire route. The first track, wide and flat, will allow you to warm up with a slope that gradually steepens to reach Cahan. You then switch to the Hameau des Planches following a technical descent. The terrain then rises to reach Saint-Marc-d'Ouilly, ending gently at Pont-d'Ouilly with a magnificent view over the Orne valley. The route begins with a comfortable warm-up on a gradual slope towards Ménil-Hubert-sur-Orne. You'll then plunge into the twisting meanders of the Rouvre river, and set off on the arduous slope towards Roche d'Oëtre. After a chance to explore the site, you'll head back towards the Rouvre and Saint-Philbert-sur-Orne. From Le Mesnil-Villement onwards, the landscape is more open, with wide paths offering magnificent panoramic views. Return to Pont-d'Ouilly along the technical descent of the Cambuse. This ten-kilometre itinerary leaves Pont-d?Ouilly quickly, via a beautiful hill to warm up, before descending to the ruisseau de la Hère, which will accompany you for part of the way! After a climb to the hamlet of Plainville, the rapid descent to the stream forks off onto a very playful trail for over a kilometer, trail sensations guaranteed! We find the Hère again as we cross it to begin the return to Pont-d?Ouilly, which brings this ideal course to a close, perfect for practising climbs and descents! This hilly route, punctuated by two climbs and several hamlet crossings, takes in a wide variety of paths from Pont d'Ouilly, with the River Noireau as its backbone. The start of the circuit can be used as a warm-up before the first ascent on a short forest path that will put the cardio and calves to work. This is followed by a long descent through the forest back to the river Noireau. After crossing the river once again, the second ascent takes you up a long, open country lane, offering a fine view of the rolling countryside above Pont d'Ouilly. The return journey is a final rolling descent, with the finish point visible below. Take time to warm up before heading almost directly uphill out of Pont d'Ouilly. The profile will then be quite varied, with plateaus, regular ascents/descents and steeper ones? enough to change pace as you adapt to the terrain. Along fields or streams, in undergrowth, you'll enjoy a variety of landscapes. This long outing will take you from beautiful vantage points to some surprisingly technical sections. Return to La Roche d'Oëtre from Pont d'Ouilly. The first 5 km out-and-back will allow you to warm up before descending to Rouvrou to follow the eponymous meanders. You'll then climb back up to the Roche d'Oëtre site, where you'll follow the site's playful trails. You'll ride over varied, undulating terrain before returning to the heights of Rouvrou to return to Pont d'Ouilly via the outward route. A rolling finish. A small, personal campsite on the edge of the Normandie Maine National Park, a site with panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and the village of Couterne. Situated on the main road between Lassay-les-Chateaux (Petites Cités de Caractère) and the spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne, on the border between the departments of Mayenne (Pays de la Loire) and Orne (Normandy). A warm welcome awaits explorers in caravans, motorhomes and tents, whether travelling with a motor vehicle or on their own. Our pitches are spacious and bordered by hedges. They are ideal for families or couples to feel at home. We have two accommodation units available for hire. Our large, spacious mobile home 'Rimini' is available for a minimum of 3 nights. Reindeer lichen, green lizards, badgers, freshwater pearl mussels, royal fern and otters can all be spotted at this significant site in the Orne.

Roche d’Oëtre has been cut out of rock, and is one of the finest belvederes in western France. This listed nature site is located in the heart of the oldest mountain in Europe in the heart of Swiss Normandy. From atop its 118 m, Roche d’Oëtre offers a breathtaking view of the Rouvre gorges. Numerous activities and services are available on site including hiking and mountain biking, orienteering, treetop adventure, art and themed exhibitions, tourist information, shop, cafe and restaurant.

On the old road to Brittany, the roof is an like upturned ship’s hull and the walls are frescoed by Le Scouezec, a Breton artist and tell the story of St Roch. There is an annual pilgrimage on the Sunday after 15 August (open air mass, procession across the fields, dogs especially welcomed)

Cossesseville church is under the patronage of Val Abbey, and dependent upon the Diocese of Bayeux since 1167. Originally located in the lower part of the parish town, the church was moved to another site, between the presbytery and the local lord’s house in 1729. In the cemetery that stands alongside the church, two graves are protected with a roof and a grey marble table upon which coats of arms are engraved on the church wall: this is in fact a 19th century monument dedicated to two people who had demonstrated virtue and charity. The Virgin and Child placed on the table represents the patron saint of soldiers. It was erected on the 16th of August 1873 by Marie de Gonneville, Countess of Mirabeau.

This family, head of numerous possessions in England, founded the Abbey of Le Val, in the nearby parish of Saint-Omer. The castle and its site were developed until the 13th century, when they were abandoned. Its picturesque ruins, including the impressive porch tower, set amidst the woods, create a romantic atmosphere conducive to daydreaming and the birth of legends, including that of Mellia the blonde. The family had many possessions in England and founded Val Abbey in the nearby parish of Saint-Omer. The castle and its grounds underwent many transformations up to the 13th century, before being abandoned. Its picturesque ruins, including an impressive porch tower, nestling amidst the woods, are within a perfect romantic atmosphere for inspiring reverie and legends, including that of Mellia la Blonde.

A vast share of this small church is contemporary. The square bell tower surmounted with a slate pyramid was built in 1737. It boasts a polygonal spire. Square windows illuminate the nave and the choir. Many priests are laid to rest in the cemetery. Under the patronage of Val Abbey, the church is dependent upon the Diocese of Bayeux.

In Normandy, 25 minutes south of Caen, we made a crazy bet. To open a restaurant, a creperie, in the heart of Normandy Switzerland in a small village of about sixty inhabitants, called La Pommeraye. And so we renovated the old stables to make it a meeting place for gourmets and gourmands, with a retro bistro atmosphere... "la route des crêpes" (the pancake road). Reservation recommended. Loving to share and receive, we have also created a gîte and charming guest rooms located a few steps from the creperie.

Each object likely to have been handled is disinfected with alcohol wipes (remote control, door knobs, hair dryer, switches and furniture edges, chairs, etc.) The sanitary facilities: shower, shower walls, taps, basins and toilets are cleaned and disinfected with a suitable product such as Sanytol or similar. The premises are aired half a day between each rental and a spray of aerosol and textile disinfectant is carried out after each departure. The carpets, if washable, are machine washed at 60°, otherwise they are steam cleaned. All colored linen is washed at 60° with the addition of a professional linen disinfectant. White linen is washed at 90° with the addition of a professional linen disinfectant. Curtains and cushions are washed between 2 rentals with the addition of disinfectant. The surfaces: table, work plan are cleaned and disinfected with Sanytol or similar products. All this work of preparation to better welcome you takes time, you will understand the need to block between a departure and your arrival several hours to ensure your safety completely. If the whole gite is rented or if it is a guest room, the vacant time may require up to a full day. We had to remove most of the books, leaflets and decorations from the house to limit cleaning and disinfection. What remains is in a plastic bag and can be easily disinfected.
