Starting at the Maison du Canal, you cycle alongside the historic Espierres Canal. This section is part of EuroVelo 5. You will soon reach the River Escaut and the long rows of poplar trees beside it. Former arms of the river which have turned into marshes appear now and again on your right. When you get to Pecq, the route continues along narrow and tranquil country roads. You finish the outing almost surrounded by wheat, sugar beet, maize and flax fields. Designed by architect Robert Mallet-Stevens between 1929 and 1932, the Villa Cavrois is considered a masterpiece of modernist Art Deco architecture. Occupied by the family until 1987, it suffered extensive damage between 1988 and 2001, despite being listed as a "Monument Historique" in the meantime. Acquired by the French government in 2001, it was donated to the Centre des Monuments Nationaux for restoration. Today, the public can visit this magnificent residence and its park in its original splendour. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1990 thanks to the efforts of the general public, and acquired by the State in 2001, the gigantic restoration project launched in 2003 by the DRAC Nord Pas-de-Calais and then taken over in 2008 by the Centre National des Monuments Historiques was completed in June 2015. Designed from 1929 onwards and completed in 1932, the Villa Cavrois is a family home, commissioned by a Roubaix textile industrialist Paul Cavrois and his wife from the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, a figure of the modernist movement. Following a precise programme, this villa concentrates all the advanced technologies of the time and constitutes an aesthetic shock whose effects are still perceptible today. The interior of the Villa, entirely treated with luxurious materials such as marble, exotic wood, and polished aluminium, is fitted out with furniture designed by Mallet-Stevens, who also signed the landscape design of the park. The most modern techniques of the time were applied. When Madame Cavrois died in 1986, the furniture was dispersed and the Villa was sold in 1987. After a long period of abandonment and vandalism, the State became the owner of the Villa in 2001 and undertook a vast project of preservation and restoration, aiming to recover the original 1932 project. The programme implemented by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux since 2008, scheduled for completion in March 2015, aims to show the exceptional ambition of the architectural project intended by the Cavrois couple. Parc Barbieux is recognised as one of the most beautiful urban parks in France. Born out of the abandonment of an underground canal project in the second half of the 19th century, Parc Barbieux is a 34-hectare English-style garden in a remarkable setting of greenery and natural diversity. With 60 different species of trees and a number of lakes and ponds, the park is a wonderful place for wildlife, leisure and relaxation, with a children's playground and a petanque area. Affectionately known as "Le Beau Jardin" by the people of Roubaix, this listed site has been awarded the "Remarkable Garden" label.

Once the world's textile capital, Roubaix has successfully converted its factories. Its swimming pool, built between 1927 and 1932 by Lille architect Albert Baert, is a veritable Art Deco masterpiece that has been transformed into a museum, a fine example of rehabilitation. Under the shouts of the bathers of yesteryear, this vast 11,000 m2 space welcomes visitors and offers them an exceptional collection of arts applied to industry, including fabrics, decorative arts, sculptures, paintings and drawings. The museum's main room, the swimming pool, is lit by stained glass windows symbolising the rising and setting sun. Human-sized statues in single file adorn the pool, which is still filled with water, and surround the old changing rooms, bathrooms and shower cubicles. Large-scale temporary exhibitions are organised throughout the year. The museum is open Tuesday to Thursday from 11am to 6pm, Friday from 11am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 6pm.Closed on Mondays and certain public holidays (01/01, 01/05, 14/07, 15/08, 01/11 and 25/12).The restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday from 12pm to 5.30pm.

Former municipal swimming pool built by Albert Baert between 1927 and 1932 in an Art Deco style, rehabilitated as a museum in 2001 and enlarged in 2018 by Jean-Paul Philippon, La Piscine exhibits the richness of its collections of paintings, sculptures and applied arts in this place which was considered for more than fifty years as "the most beautiful swimming pool in France".   Saint-Amand church was built in Tournai stone in the 13th or 14th century. It was rebuilt in the 15th century, enlarged between 1772 and 1774, and restored in 1910 by C. Sonneville, who created the neo-Gothic façade. The church is made up of an entrance flanked by a circular stair turret and polygonal annexe. The nave has two bays, of which only the first has side aisles leading off. These side aisles were redeveloped in 1910 at the same time as the façade. The nave has six columns in Tournai stone. This is the oldest part of the church. The aisle has a 20th-century flat timber roof from. There is a double transept extending more to the west. The chancel with chevet with five walls is rib vaulted with brick segments. The ridges are softened by prismatic culs de lampe adorned with angels' heads. The chancel is adjoined to the south by a neo-Gothic sacristy. Noteworthy among the furnishing are the funeral slabs, stained glass windows and baptismal fonts. Listed (14-09-1934)  

Open since 1997, Le Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains, located in a building renovated by the Franco-American architect Bernard Tschumi, provides the public with significant contemporary art exhibitions, film programs, concerts, performances, lectures, and more throughout the year. Additionally, Le Fresnoy serves as a prestigious center for artistic, audiovisual, and multimedia training for advanced students. Its main goal is to empower young creators to produce works using professional technical resources, under the guidance of renowned artists, without limiting their means of expression. These works are showcased annually at the Panorama event.

With a surface area of 36 hectares, it is the largest of the Villeneuve lakes and is used for a variety of activities (sailing, boating, fishing, etc.). It is accompanied by a 110-hectare park, named after the shape of a heron taking flight. The lake's shoreline is a popular place for sunbathing and reading.
