"Wild Coast"! The name of the site holds the promise of a change of scenery and isolation. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, the 34 hectares of the Conservatoire's property in the commune of Soorts-Hossegor, form a well-preserved dune barrier of sufficient height and width to hide from beach users the residential areas hidden under the forest fringe. Between the ocean beach to the west and the Boulevard du Front de Mer which runs along the back dune to the east, the site is 95% composed of non-forested dunes. The natural forest edge is almost absent, only a few relics are present in the central zone, but are quite degraded. The dune is gently sloping on the beach side and steeper to the east. It is covered with sparse vegetation. It is a beautiful example of a dune of the south Landes coastline, which is rare and not very prone to erosion.

Statue of Our Lady: it was made by the sculptor Lucien Danglade (1851-1951). A pupil of Charles Despiau, a famous artist from Mont-de-Marsan, he designed many bas-reliefs for holiday houses around the lake of Hossegor with local themes: the ox team, the fisherman... Every 14th August, it is here that the vigil and torchlight procession dedicated to the Virgin Mary is held, considered by sailors as the protective mother who watches over them and their families and which in Gascony is called "L'Estèle de la Ma" (The Star of the Sea).

Third session is a new art center dedicated to contemporary photography, located at the Pavilion of the forest, in the village of Soorts. At the meeting point of the image and the text, the place exposes all the summer the Girondin Alain Laboile, celebrated all over the world for its black and white prints, elegiac chronicle of a large family life in contact with nature. Admission is free, from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2pm to 7pm. Mediations, educational workshops to image and writing, sound immersions accompany the exhibition. An extension is planned outside, at the Ferme de Bielle, in Soorts-Hossegor, with eleven additional images. From September, Third session will exhibit a new series by the portrait artist Baudouin on surfers from the south of Les Landes.

The estacade was buit by the emperor Napoleon III during 1858. Later it was modificated and in 1948 was added a lighthouse. In 1950, a lantern which lightened at 14 miles was built. Nowaday, the estacade measures 189 m 60.
