Discover Corps at camping du Lac du Sautet

Very gentle start then change of slope for the climb (water point in Saint Julien). Recovery at the top of Peyrague then single-track descent to Corps with beautiful views of the Lac du Sautet.

An ascent reserved for experienced hikers, in steep and sometimes aerial terrain, which gives access to a spectacular mountain spectacle. Supervision is recommended. Parking: Departure Col de la Samblue, Pellafol - Shortly before the Col des Faïsses, take one end of the private, motorable forest track which climbs from Les Payas, a hamlet of Pellafol, a stone's throw from Corps. Journey : After about a hundred meters on the track, go up to the right and cut through the fields to reach the Col des Faïsses. From there, follow the route in the direction of Obiou to the bottom of the Vallon, a narrow rock ledge after which you descend slightly towards the mountain pastures. The path then passes under large screes and then describes an arc of a circle to the “big climb”: a very steep and long slope, which uses the strata of the rock as a staircase. At the end, we have to help each other with our hands as the slope becomes steep. Be careful and watch out for falling rocks on the following ones! You reach the Obiou pass, above which you have to cross a scree again towards the summit. The path then walks to the left, crosses the steps in very straightened steps at the edge of the void (passage of the tie), descends a little then crosses to the foot of the easy summit slope of the South-West face that we climb back up. . The descent follows the same route, beware of the steep slope.

Nice walk in the mountain pastures, to discover the "Quatre mille du Beaumont": Colombier, Côte-Belle, Côte-Rouge and Mont-de-Rousse. A hike where marmots are often present. Parking: From La Mure, take the N85 (Route Napoléon) and after Les Essarts turn left on the D212 which will bring you to Saint-Michel-en-Beaumont. After the hamlet of Villelonge turn left onto the D212F. Park in a car park along the D212F, near the Col de Parquetout. Itinerary : Take the forest track "Tour du Valbonnais-Beaumont" to the Clos de l'Alpe hut. Continue on the contour line on the side of Mont-de-Rousse to the Plainet (1558m). The path turns due north and crosses the magnificent Bois des Trente. You join the Col de Parquetout road which you take to the right to find the car.

A refreshing walk along an old but still well-alive canal, winding in the forest. Altitude climb + : 100 m Outward walk : 1h à 2h30 Start : St Laurent en Beaumont ou La Salle en Beaumont Difficulty : easy Map : Top 25 IGN 3336OT La Mure - Valbonnais Trail map « La Matheysine » Three thematic and educational trails are available to the hikers from St Laurent or La Salle. The shortest trail starts from St Laurent, with the «Ambiance» walk following a loop. From La Salle, for the children, follow the «Ludique» walk; for the adults, follow the «Connaissance» walk. To do all these trails, the ideal start is St Laurent, following La Salle en Beaumont along the canal until the end of the «Connaissance» walk. Go down to La Salle en Beaumont and follow the «Connaissance» walk to go up the canal and return to St Laurent via the outward trail. When there is water in the canal, you should remain very careful especially with children and dogs since the current can be quite strong in some places, even though the canal is not very deep. Underground passages increase this risk.

A family walk in the footsteps of Plic and Ploc, along the “La Souloise” River, up to the mysterious Sources of the Gillardes. Loop : 1h30 à 2h30

This hike, above the village of Entraigues, shows the way that man was organized to get the most out of the agriculture and forestry... From the parking at Entraigues church, follow the road to Valjouffrey until the last garden and take a left onto the marked trail at Vêt-Lac Gary. This follows the torrent descending from the combe Drayre then goes up at a big crossing rising onto a scree, and then winds down in the rocky ridges. The trail crosses a beech wood then continues by mounting swiftly getting close to the Combe des Roberts, then crossing it still gaining in altitude to the right bank.. At the fork at Jas des Agneaux/Cabane du Vêt-Lac Gary, the slope becomes less sleep. Take an elevated path to the left to join the Jas des Agneaux. 

This signposted itinerary is the only one that enables you to reach the magnificent Gary Lake in the Arcanier massif that resembles a citadel. From the Entraigues church car park, follow the road to Valjouffrey up to the last garden and turn left onto the footpath that is signposted Vet-lac- Gary. It continues along a stream that starts at the Combe de la Draye, then climbs up across a rock fall and meanders along rocky ledges. The footpath goes through a beech forest and continues swiftly upwards as it gets closer to the Combe des Roberts, which it crosses as it continues to gain in altitude on the right bank.  At the fork in the road Jas des Agneaux/Vet-Lac Gary hut, the slope is not so steep. Follow the route on the right hand side and, by the ledge footpath, enter the Vêt valley in order to get to the pastoral hut. The route follows the left bank of the stream. Link up to the small path coming from Drayes on the Blanc pass. It meanders on a slope of scree below the gap in the Arcanier.  From the Gary gap, go down as far as the lake that is set on a terrace facing the summit of the Valjouffrey valley. Return by the same route.

2nd more important pilgrimage in France after Lourdes, this basilica is a memorable building in the religious architecture of Isère. Beyond gatherings of 15th August and 19th September, the site is worth the journey, from its 1800m height.

Agricultural specialists consider a meadow as natural if it has not been ploughed or fertilised over the last ten years. This is the case for those that you will see, surrounded by hedges, at the start of the hike. The meadows have an important variety of plant life and consequently attract multitudes of pollinating insects, including domesticated bees of course.

No sand or barren lands, the name of Desert comes from the word "essarter" which means to clear the land of forest in order to produce a clearing. Forest clearing was necessary for the implementation and the development of agriculture in the mountains... Nowadays, the Desert is one of the only hamlets at altitude which is inhabited all year round in spite of the harsh mountain climate.

More than fifty years ago, a botany lover, who is now elderly, created a small alpine garden in the centre of the village. Although it is less well kept nowadays, it still presents a stunning array of colour and a collection of spectacular plants belonging to alpine flora.

Valsenestre is a flower-filled village that has been superbly restored and is now made up of holiday homes The road is not cleared of snow in the winter. When the village had one hundred or so inhabitants it had a school (that has since been changed into a gîte d'étape (bed and breakfast halt), that closed in 1936. It was entirely buried by an avalanche in the 19th century. The main activity was still breeding but the opening of a marble quarry from 1840 brought complimentary resources to workers in the village. The last permanent inhabitant left Valsenestre in 1959.

In the 19th century, the hamlet of Valsenestre had roughly one hundred inhabitants. The main activity was breeding. In 1851, a marble quarry opened in the bottom of the valley on the way up to the Muzelle pass. This was an opportunity for the village. It welcomed the quarry workers and benefitted from an improved road. Marble production stopped in 1905. Up until 1926, children laughing and shouting could still be heard in the village. The school had about thirty pupils. It was closed a few years later and the last permanent inhabitant of the village left in 1948.

In the heart of the historic district of Mens, the Musée du Trièves recounts the rich history of the region and its inhabitants. From prehistory to the present day, permanent and temporary exhibitions present the sites of this remarkable rural heritage. Located in the heart of the historic center of Mens, this museum traces the history of the people who have shaped the Trièves landscape. A genuine local museum, it gives pride of place to landscapes, early human occupation, rural heritage and village life, as well as to the artists who have spent time here (Jean Giono, Edith Berger, Emile Gilioli). Temporary exhibitions complete the discovery. The Musée du Trièves, the former garrison of Lesdiguières soldiers during the Wars of Religion, located on the Place de la Halle (Monument Historique), traces the history of the places and men who have shaped the region...

At only few minutes walk from the shelterhouse of Rivobruenti . a hut made for 5 persons on 3m high in the trees and a genuine Mongolian yurt for 4 persons. The Rivobruenti proposes half pension.

The Souffles mountain refuge is managed by the CAF (French Alpine Club).  A keeper is present from June to September. Here you have the opportunity to get something to eat whilst chatting with a mountain professional or spend a night at high altitude if you prefer. This is a good way to split the itinerary in two.

Hut (2130 m) guarded daily from mid-June to the first weekend of October and on weekends from late May. 58 places available when guarded, 9 seats during unguarded. Access in 4 hours from l'Alleau parking (934 m) in Venosc. From this Hamlet, take direction "Refuge de la Muzelle" after the small bridge. Follow the winding path leading to the ruins of Pleney. The path continues near the torrent until "Clot du Stella". Cross the bridge and follow "Ardoisières", then "Les marches" before you arrive at the lake. . IGN: AND 3336. Trail No. 509 OBP. The bottom of the valley comes up to the rock wall at Muzelle, the pic du Clapier du Peyron and the head of the Muraillette. The modern history of this place is marked by mountaineering. It was on the 2nd July 1875 that Coolidge guided by  Almer father and son opened the normal way to Roche de la Muzelle by the East North East face and  the North-East ridge.. At this time, even if a pastoral cabin was used by the mountaineers the bivouac was still often used in the Muzelle valley. In 1967, it was in the rocky cirque that the community built the refuge on the shore of Muzelle lake.
