Departure from Gresse-en-Vercors near the church, take the direction of Col de l'Allimas 3. Leave the village to join the Pas du Bru 1 then Combe Rouge 2 to the South. At the Col de l'Allimas, enjoy the magnificent view of the famous Mont Aiguille. The return to the village of Gresse-en-Vercors takes place between meadows and undergrowth until Uclaire 4. The path after crossing the Aulanier stream joins the road from the Pas du Bru. The walk ends in the same itinerary as on the way.

Walk back down the same road to Uclaire, and head for Col de l'Allimas along the path (GTV). From Col de l'Allimas, go down the road to the intersection with the GTV in the direction of Pas du Bru, then Combe Rouge, Aux Fayolles, Côte Emblay and Girard, and then Gresse-en-Vercors via the road to Grand Veymont.

This museum is about the mining exploitation through the visit of the gallery, an exhibition and a film to tell you the story of miners. The anthracite mines from La Motte d'Aveillans created under Napoleon I and closed in 1956 was resurrected in 1986 by the Association Sauvegarde et Mise en Valeur du Patrimoine Mottois.. Several galleries of mineral extraction has been re-worked and open to visit. A guide leads you through authentic galleries where you will follown 2 centuries of mineral exploitation, technics, material from different periods e work conditions of "Gueules Noires" on the Plateau Matheysin where the exploitation was definitively closed in 1997. The exhibtion room of the museum will permit you to discover the Lampistery, the hanged room, day works, social universe of the mines and daily stuff of miners but also some beautiful mineral in the famous "treasure room".

The Serpaton Alp hosts the Black Grouse. This sedentary bird is one of the symbols of the Vercors Regional Nature Park. It appears on the park's logo, in the company of the wild Tulip. During the breeding season (April-May) the rooster sings at daybreak. But do not try to see it and above all stay on the roads, because this remarkable species is very sensitive to disturbance.

A 60 m² exhibition space dedicated to EDF's activities in the Drac valley. Find out all about the Monteynard-Avignonet dam and the valley's 3 other major dams, through films, panels and photos. A place of welcome and information, partly financed by EDF, with the aim of promoting both the Lac de Monteynard Avignonet site and the culture of hydroelectricity, a renewable energy par excellence. Indeed, the Monteynard-Avignonet dam, which created the lake of the same name, is unique. It's a factory dam, with the turbines used to generate electricity integrated into the heart of the dam. This information and much more is freely available, and photos and live explanations by the staff present will complete your visit.

On July 24, 1944, German troops went looking for a young member of the Resistance called Georges Mouttet. He was not in when the troops arrived at the family home, but they interrogated his widowed mother, Blanche Mouttet, with great brutality. Her cries were heard by the woman living next door.When the torturers didn’t find out the information about her son they had come looking for, they finished Blanche off with blows from a pickaxe. Her body was burnt in her own home, the fire spreading to the rest of the hamlet, sparing the only house on the other side of the road.

Two farms were inhabited before being burned by German soldiers accompanied by militia on July 24, 1944. The challenges of the altitude, the long and snowy winters, the poor quality of the soil and low harvests meant that peasant life was harsh and heavy-going on these steep slopes. The fields, which were larger at the time than they are today, were home to a handful of crops, and domestic animals were also bred so that the men could be relatively self-sufficient. Two structures are still standing: the oven – used for baking bread – at the northern entrance to the hamlet; and the pond, which was used as a drinking trough for the animals and a washhouse for the peasant women.

In the autumn of 1943, a handful of Resistance fighters set up here in the hamlet abandoned by the Scouts and Skiers Section of the 6th Battalion of Alpine Infantrymen. They spent the winter of 1943-1944 under the command of Louis Kalck (André), with Robert Adage serving as liaison officer. Their numbers rose in the spring of 1944. The camp consisted of 37 men in July, nearly all of whom came from the region, with Achille Demaret (Potin) in command. They left in haste on July 3, 1944 after being warned about the attack by the German convoy at the Allimas pass, before making their way to the Resistance in the Vercors. The next day, July 4, the Germans destroyed the site they had left behind, burning the hamlet to the ground.

The pond was built in 1942 by the Scouts and Skiers Section of the 6th Battalion of Alpine Infantrymen headed by battalion commander Albert Seguin de Reyniès. The section was stationed at the High Mountain Training Centre set up by Captain Pourchier in 1940. The units of the 6th Battalion came to train here, with lieutenants Eysseris, Chabl, Tanant and Gardent also passing through. When the battalion was disbanded on November 28, 1942, they answered the call of their commander and joined the Resistance, making a name for themselves as heroes during the fighting in the Vercors in 1944. The hamlet of Uclaire, which sheltered a member of the Maquis, was burned by German troops on July 4, 1944 in retaliation for the attack on an enemy convoy on July 3 at the Allimas pass.

The day after the Germans were ambushed on July 3, 1944 at the Allimas pass, their troops inflicted bloody reprisals against the civilian population. They arrested some 20 men, rounding them up in the town hall square and submitting them to a brutal interrogation on the first floor of the building. Five of them – people from the village – were detained and shot dead on this very spot: Alexis Garnier (42 years old), Gaston Faure (44), Raymond Cuchet (27), and two young brothers, Edmond (21) and Marcel Martin-Dhermont (20).

Gresse-en-Vercors is a small ski resort of 400 inhabitants, nestled between the eastern border of the Vercors and the Serpaton mountain pasture. The village church was built in the traditional style of the old mountain chapels. It is the oldest monument in the Gothic style of the region. Its construction goes back to the 13th century for its lower part. A great quantity of its very beautiful stones were carved on the high plateaux of the Vercors at about 1800 meters of altitude.

Gresse-en-Vercors is dominated to the south by the Grand Veymont, located in the Hautes-Plateaux reserve of Vercors, it is with its 2341 m the climax of the massif. The Pas de la Ville to the north of the Grand Veymont allows to reach the High Plateaux. It is one of the few passages that connects Gresse-en-Vercors to the heart of the massif.

The cabin of the Aiguillettes is a former shepherd's hut dating back to the time when the pastoral units were smaller. This hut, open to the public, accommodates only 4 people by tightening a little and does not have a stove.

To access the campervan area, take the avenue Fréjus Michon. The area is reserved for campers and is forbidden for others vehicules. Parking of vehicles must be done only in the specially designated parking spaces. The campervan area is divided in 7 different parking spaces. The following services are available in the motorhome area: - Drinking water: a drinking water tap is available on site. Its use is free and operates by pressing the tap head. The tap is exclusively reserved for refilling water tanks. - Waste disposal: chemical cassette emptying must be done in the designated receptacle located next to the water tap. Wastewater can be emptied in the ground-level inspection chamber connected to the sewage system.
