Camping Les Eymes: Adventures in Meaudre, Isère

This FFC signposted route will take you across the Plateau de La Molière, a large high-altitude pasture which during the summer is home to many herds of cows. Magnificent views of the French Alps as far as Mont Blanc.

Immerse yourself in the heart of the forest of Coulmes, on the paths formerly frequented by the "Charbonniers" formerly very present on this massif. Departure from the Col de Romeyère (car park) take about 150 meters on the road north towards Pas du Follet-Bois de Neurre 2, before turning on the left to climb into a field then into the forest and reach the Bois de Neurre 1. From there, continue until the Pas du Follet, a remarkable view towards the neighboring town of Malleval-en-Vercors and the Isère plain. Consider returning to the Col de Romeyère by retracing your steps to take the Bois de Neurre towards Rencurel, following the yellow-red markings of the Tour des Coulmes. Join the Lapiaz 3 (where we leave the Tour des Coulmes) and then Le Belvédère 4, to finish the walk along the forest road of Mont Noir.

Crest route with breathtaking views of the Alps From Col de la Croix Perrin (1218 m), turn right onto the signposted road (yellow and green) for the Molière (8.3 km). Follow this forest track that runs into combe de Rui and reaches the ridges overlooking  Lans-en-Vercors village. Leave the path that runs south on the Croix de Jaume and go up along the ridge. Join a flat in the forest of Guiney at altitude 1529 m (1 hour). Reach the sign indicating "Les Trois Communes" (1636 m). Follow the signs for 1.8 km and follow the direction of Pas de Bellecombe (1636 m). Follow (La Molière - 3.1 km) on the ridges overlooking the mountain pastures. Pass le relais, the Pas de l'Ours (1649 m) and reach the summit of Charande (1709 m). Continue north towards the Pas de la Tracollet (1648 m) and then to the alpine meadows and the orientation table of the Molière (1632 m - 3 hours.) Magnificent view of the region and the surrounding mountains Mont Blanc. Return:The return is identical to the itinerary of the outward journey. At the sign of Les Trois communes, shoot right (west) and join a track that runs south. Follow it to the end (turning point for the forestry machines) and, before this elbow, spin in the forest, due west (yellow and green markings). Go down and join the Barthélemy forest trail. Turn left (south) to the Croix Perrin pass.For those wishing to make a loop, you just have to take the forest road of the Molière to the shelter of the Feneys (1522 m). At the intersection (before the refuge), leave the road that goes to the right for the snow stage of the Sure (Autrans). Pull left onto the forest road Barthélemy which goes down on the Col de la Croix Perrin. (Descent in 1 hour).

Discover the natural and historical riches of Ecouges. Site classified Sensitive Natural Area of the department of Isère since 2003. Departure from Pont Chabert (parking), take the direction of Rivet. The forest road runs through the wood known as Les Bergers, passes at La Scie 1, then winds up to the Grandes Routes 2, to reach at the end of a long straight line Le Rivet 3 (belvedere on the valley proximity). The hike continues through the alpine pastures (thank you for closing the barriers behind you), follow the yellow and green markings and join Le Pré du Sabot 4. From there, join the Pas de Montbrand 5, then the Pas de Pierre Taillée 8 passing by Sous Montbrand 6 and Sous Pierre Taillée 7. Get off at Fessole 9 before returning to the crossroads of Pré du Sabot. From this crossing, the return to Pont Chabert takes place on the same route as on the way.

The peaks and the valley of Autrans, the mountain bike pleasure between singles in the forest and points of view impossible to circumvent! Departure from the parking of the Télésiège de la Quoi. Upon arrival at the top of the chairlift, turn right towards the south via the Grand Tour du Vercors (GTV) to Pas de l'Ours. Go through the crossroads Les Egarlettes, Malatra, Plénouze, Les Génisses, La Molière, Pas du Tracollet, Charande, and Sous Charande.At Pas de l'Ours, get off at the Obereaux then Combe Payraud.From there, from the bottom of the Val d'Autrans return north to the Quoi Lift by Le Grand Champ, Villeneuve, Les Ronins and L'Achard taking a magnificent lauzé path.

Between forest and mountain pastures in the heart of the sensitive nature area of Ecouges From Pont Chabert (882 m) follow the forest road towards the sheepfold of Fessole (8,1 Kms). The large trail along the stream allows easy access to the "Grandes Routes" 1 (995 m), then the passage du Versoud (oratory) and the old farm of Rivet 2 (1095 m). The Rivet viewpoint offers a magnificent view of the Isère valley. A sign indicates the sheepfold at 4.1 Kms. Take the track that runs east. At 1182 meters reach the Pré du Sabot 3. Leave on the right the Pas de Montbrand. At 1300 meters, leave the forest and continue north in the clearing. Quietly reach the sheepfold of Fessole 4 located under the Pas de la Pierre Taillée.Return:The return is the same as the itinerary of the go.

Join the deep gorges of Furon and the bubbling of its limpid waters. The return to Lans-en-Vercors is via a picturesque path, along the Furon, then via the Danes trail (Passage to avoid however in wet weather) and finally to the plateau of Val de Lans by La Combe. From there, the return to the village is carried out by the same way that on the way.

Departure from the crossroads of Patente, descend to the Fontaine de Bury 1 then the Prairie de Ganasse 2.Continue towards Clos Michet 3 and the Clos Michet car park, before taking the forest road for a few hundred meters.Always follow the beacons of the MTB circuit n ° 19 Blue and mark the yellow and green paint between each directional panel. At the Croisettes 4, the trail sets off again towards the north in the undergrowth to join the Clairière de Patente 5 then Patente.

The castle shelters the museum of the French Revolution since 1984. The collections gather pieces of art such as paintings, drawings, sculptures and engravings. On July 21st 1788, the castle of Vizille entered History. The Etats Généraux of the Dauphiné meeting which had been forbade by Grenoble authorities had been thus sheltered by Claude Perrier. Seduced by the liberal ideas, his castle sheltered this meeting. 187 members of the Tiers Etats, 49 clergymen and 159 noblemen deliberated during 16 hours. In demanding the meeting of the Etats généraux this event is considered to have triggered the Revolution. The Salle du jeu de paume which was the witness of this event have burnt during the fire of 1865. Its implantation is now symbolised by a terrace planted with trees at the entrance of the museum. This cave was discovered in 1936. In 2017, it was almost 50km long, with 5 entrances spread over Autrans-Méaudre-en-Vercors. It rises at the Goule Noire bridge in the Gorges de la Bourne.

During the ascent to the Pas du Follet, admire the view over the Rencurel valley, dominated by the rocks of Méaudre and the Rochers de Gonson. It was here that part of the film was filmed: "Une hironelle a fait le printemps" by Christian Carion in 2001.

During the last war, lumberjacks and coal miners lived there.During this period, coal miners made charcoal in metal furnaces, while the ancestral method perpetuated by some until the sixties was to carbonize logs of beech, skillfully arranged in grindstones covered with earth, shelter from the air. It took 50 tons of wood to get 10 tons of coal.In 1998, a man revived the past by reviving this charcoal hut.

Known since the beginning of the last century by the inhabitants of Autrans, this cave with a simple route is used by speleologists to discover the underground world. It bears witness to an old underground network where the water circulated before returning to the gorges of the Bourne. Become a fossil cave, today only the rain feeds its stalagmites and stalagtites.

Many places in the Vercors testify to the old presence of the Bear. It is here that it has remained the longest in the French Alps. The Gorges du Nan, a remarkable site that recently earned them to be classified as a Sensitive Natural Area. The Molière alpine pasture (probably millstone because a former grinding quarry exists nearby), represents a traditional pasture place for the 280 heifers belonging to 25 different owners. The different cattle breeds raised on the Vercors are there: the montbéliarde, in the white and red dress; Abondance, white with dark brown eyes; The blonde of Aquitaine in the plain dress, very similar to the local star, the Villarde. The Molière alpine pasture is classified as a sensitive natural area by the departmental council of Isère, its management is entrusted to the Regional Natural Park of Vercors.
