A magnificent route through the protected site of the Gorges du Gardon, in the heart of the nature reserve. To help you on this hike, the Gardon Gorges Regional Nature Reserve Center provides two documents that you can pick up on site: - A free map with a description of the trail; - An educational booklet titled “In the Footsteps of Saint Vérédème,” which guides you in exploring the site’s natural and cultural heritage. This educational booklet is also available for purchase at our tourist offices. From the town hall parking lot, take the Chemin de La Baume (to the left of the bakery) for about 1 km until you reach the “La Coufine” sign. Then continue left toward “Les Condamines”: the trail crosses the garrigue. Next, follow the signs for “La Baume” and gradually descend until you reach the river. On your right, you’ll find the old La Baume mill and a small chapel nestled at the foot of the cliff. Turn right to reach the chapel. A path carved into the cliff face leads to the cave. It is open from March 15 to April 30 and from August 16 to November 14. After passing through the cave, follow the signs for “La Coufine.” If the cave is closed, follow the signs for “La Coufine” without taking the stone staircase leading to the cave. Continue straight ahead: the path crosses the garrigue and includes a steep climb for about 1 km. Warning: The water in the Gardon River, which is mainly fed by springs in the summer, is very cold. There is a high risk of hypothermia, which is why swimming is strictly prohibited year-round at the La Baume site (Sanilhac-Sagriès).

Let yourself be lulled by the history of water and olives along this route. Numerous elements of remarkable heritage reveal the work of Man in shaping the landscape, from the Roman era to the present day. Water has left its mark all along the loop with titanic hydraulic works and the omnipresence of dry stone. Cyclists can appreciate an educational layout around a noria, incredibly well preserved remains of the aqueduct created to bring water from Uzès to Nimes via the famous Pont du Gard. This itinerary also offers you a stroll near olive groves and oil mills. The most gourmands will be able to taste a bit of this land by tasting the famous AOP Olive and Olive Oil of Nimes. 1. Turn right "rue de la source" and left "rue de la Noria" and "rue du Canal". You will discover an educational installation around the theme of the aqueduct, a mosaic fresco and an old waterwheel. 2. Pass behind "l'église romane Saint-André" built in the XII around 1150. Take on your right and continue straight ahead (Be careful you cross the D6086). 3. Turn left "rue du marché aux boeufs" and right to take the road to "CABRIERES". 4. Take on the left the direction "chemin des planels" (sporting rise) 5. Stay on the main road until you reach the hiking post "la Table ronde" where you turn right and start a descent that borders fields of olive trees. 6. Enter Ledenon on the D427. Pass near the church (on the left). Enjoy the view of the castle (12th century). Then follow the "chemin de l'esperel" which will take you to the village of Saint Bonnet du Gard. 7. Join "SAINT-BONNET DU GARD" (Be careful, crossing the RN 86) 8 . Pass near its fortified church "chemin de Serhnac" then pass the railroad and take the green way of the bridge of Gard by taking on the right. 9. The variant "Vestiges de l'Aqueduc" leads you in the direction of authentic vestiges of the Aqueduct of Nîmes in Sernhac. Leave the green way. Following the signs, go up towards the Vallon d'Escaunes in Cantarelles. 10. Join the D205 to then join the Pont-du-Gard greenway. 11. Leave the green way to join the parking of the municipal swimming pool and continue on this road to the right direction Meynes. 12. Take the road to the left then to the right the "chemin de la manade" and join "la route de Bezouce" to the starting point.

This stage of the Chemin Urbain V between Blauzac and Estézargues follows in the historic footsteps of Pope Urban V, linking picturesque villages and testifying to the region's medieval and religious heritage. From the Avenue des Aires parking lot in Blauzac Follow rue de l'Hôtel-de-Ville. After the church, take rue Neuve to the left, chemin des Capitelles to the right and chemin du Pont-Romain to the right for 250 m. Climb to the left along the stony path (Circuit des Capitelles). After "Le Code", turn right onto the beautiful path lined with low dry-stone walls. At the "Chemin de Sares-et-Prélong" post, continue along this path. Pass "Côte de Malaigue" and, opposite, reach "Malaigue". Climb the track on the left and, at "Chemin de Pellecuer", turn right onto "Chemin de Pellecuer". It zigzags and enters a wood of pines and holm oaks. Take the right-hand path downhill. This leads to the "Valat des Pontils" on the plain. Take the track on the left, pass "Les Pontils" and continue straight ahead. Leave the track on your left and cross the Roman bridge over the Seynes. Continue along the track, which veers left and passes under the old railroad line on the right. Turn left onto chemin du Mas-de-Justices. At the houses, turn left on the unsurfaced track for 20 m and continue on the surfaced track. Turn right, passing Mas de Boule and Mas Hyro. At the crossroads, go straight ahead. The road bends to the left. Turn right (north) onto the track that runs alongside the Mas-Careiron hospital. At the electric substation, turn right onto Chemin du Paradis, bordering the hospital fence. At the "Chemin du Paradis" crossroads (hospital parking lot), turn left onto Avenue Moïse-Charras. After the gendarmerie, turn right towards Uzès town center on avenue de la Gare (D 982) and reach the traffic circle, signposted "Avenue de la Libération". _____________________________________________________________ Variant via the town center and the Eure fountain - 4.1 km - 1 h 05 **From the traffic circle to the Eure spring** - 1.8 km - 25 min Go straight ahead on avenue de la Libération, right on boulevard des Alliés, boulevard Victor-Hugo, and come to the "Chemin de Gide" sign. A) Go straight ahead, rounding the museum to the right. Turn right onto avenue Maxime-Pascal for 75 m. Turn right into Parc du Duché, then left along the right bank of the Alzon. Reach the Eure spring. **From the Source d'Eure to the Moulin de Carrière** - 2.3 km - 40 min B) Go down the left bank of the stream. At the "Vallée d'Eure" sign, turn right. At "Moulin de Tournal", cross the footbridge to the right, climb up, then fork left. At "André Gide", take the track on the left, go downhill on the left and pass "Gisfort". Continue along the left-hand track to reach the "Moulin de Carrière". _____________________________________________________________ > Junction with the GR®. Turn right down Avenue du Redounet, past the stadiums and college, then left up Chemin du Paradis. Continue right along rue Tour-du-Roi. At the Place Croix-des-Palmiers crossroads, cross the D979 and turn right into Rue Gaston-Broche. Turn right into rue de l'Escalette and left into chemin des Carrières. After "Escalette", take the winding road down to "Moulin de Carrière". Take the left-hand variant. Follow the track to the right, cross the Alzon and continue straight ahead. At the "Chemin du Mazet" post, take the path to the right (south-east), then continue down the road (capitelle on the left). At the crossroads, take the road on the left. At the "Le Mas de Rey" sign, continue along the road opposite, and at the "La Galotte" crossroads, turn right onto the road through the vines. Take the Chemin de Cervezanne on the left, the second road on the right for 60 m and the Traverse des Amandiers on the left. Go past "La Carriérette", past the cemetery, to the church and the "Saint-Maximin" sign. Go up into the village and, at the "Saint-Maximin - La Capitelle" sign, turn right towards Les Santolines. Descend into the valley on a very stony path. Continue downhill on the right-hand path for 750 m. Pass "Les Santolines" and follow the D 365 to the left for 650 m. Before the D981, take the road on the left. When you reach "Traverse", take the road on the left, then the road on the right. It becomes a path. Cross the Roman bridge over the Bordènegue stream. Opposite, reach the "Bordènegue" crossroads and continue straight ahead (east) on the path between vineyards and garrigues for 1.5 km. It leads to Argilliers. At the "Boisset" crossroads, turn right to reach the church and the "Argilliers" sign. Take the D3 bis to the left; at "Ancien Lavoir", take the Chemin du Lavoir to the left. At "La Ginente", continue straight ahead along chemin des Carrières. At "Artigues", keep heading in the same direction and, at the crossroads near the well, take the road on the right for 250 m. Fork left onto the grassy path and reach the cross at "Le Roc Plan". Continue along the right-hand track, past the quarry still in operation. At the "La Coste" crossroads, continue left to the "Chemin des Carrières" [lined with large blocks of local stone: the stone used to build the Pont du Gard]. Take the wide avenue to the right, past the Place de l'Armistice (war memorial) and into Rue des Escanaux. At the "La Poste" crossroads, turn left into "rue de la Poste" and reach the "Vers Pont du Gard" sign. At the circular Vers lavoir, turn left up the Chemin du Lavoir. Turn left onto the D227 for 300 m. At the "Fontaine de Misserand" post, climb the path on the left, continue right and follow the aqueduct for 600 m. Take the Chemin de Font-Ménestrière to the right. Turn left onto the D227, cross the old railroad line and reach the traffic circle. Cross the D981 [> caution!]. Continue opposite, skirting the remains of the aqueduct for 600 m to reach the "Pont Roupt" crossroads. Junction with GR® 6 arriving on the right from the Gardon gorges. Opposite, the GR® are shared as far as the Pont du Gard. Continue opposite, following the remains of the aqueduct and down the steps alongside the Pont du Gard. [If you leave the signposted hiking trail, you will have to pay a fee to visit the site, museum and exhibitions]. Separation from GR® 6, which crosses the Pont du Gard. Do not cross the bridge and follow the D981 to the left. Take a left at the museum parking lot, then continue along the road to the left as far as La Bégude-de-Vers. Follow the D19 to the right for 450 m. At the "Font Grasse" traffic circle, follow the road to the left, crossing the old railroad line. Twenty meters after the railroad, take the track on the left. At the "La Carrière" post, turn right [view of the Pont du Gard] and follow the path through the garrigue. Continue towards the village. At "Castillon-du-Gard", go up the Chemin du Petit-Stade, leaving the water tower on your right, turn left and follow the ramparts. At "Passage du Jeu de Boule", turn right, go around the church and, heading east, reach the "Village" sign and the Castillon-du-Gard town hall. Continue; at "Le Portal", turn left down the D 228 and right onto the Chemin de la Petite-Coste. Cross the D 892 at the "La Lussane" crossroads, then take the left-hand road for 1.6 km. At the Saint-Hilaire bridge, go under the D 6086, cross an old draille and continue along the track [lavoir]. At the "Chemin de la Fontaine" post, take the road to the right, then the pine-lined path to the left. Follow rue des Remparts to the right, then, at "Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan", rue de la Vieille-Église to the left to reach the "Mairie" sign for Saint-Hilaire-d'Ozilhan. Turn right into rue Clastre, then left into rue de la Résistance. At the "Chemin d'Avignon" crossroads, turn right. The track crosses the plain, then climbs into the Bois de la Croisette. At the "L'Amas du Gal" crossroads, take the path on the right for 1.8 km, leaving a track on the right and crossing the wood. Take the track on the left for 300 m, then the path on the right. At the crossroads, near the power line, follow the track to the right for 800 m. At the X junction, turn left along the photovoltaic farm to "La Languedocienne". Pass under the A9, take the left-hand track for 100 m, then take the right-hand track. At the "Panissière" post, turn right to reach the "Mour de la Coudette" crossroads.

Charming walk on the paths of the garrigue to discover numerous capitelles (dry stone shelters from the 18th and 19th centuries). Discover the history of this heritage linked to the culture of vines, cereals, olive trees and pastoralism. From the town hall parking lot, turn right up rue de l'hôtel de ville. At the end of the street, turn right onto "le chemin du pont romain" (signposted circuit des capitelles). Follow the red and white markings of the GR63 Urbain V. At the "Mas du code" sign, take the path on the left (circuit des capitelles sign). This is a challenging climb with some gullies. At the "Le code" sign, go straight on for 1.8 km. You will pass the signpost "Chemin de Sares et Prelong" (go straight on). At the "Côte Malaïgue" sign, take the left-hand path and go straight on for 700 m (yellow markings). At the "Mas de la Librotte" sign, turn left to "chemin de la Cabane de Guiraud". Turn left and join the path to discover capitelles, an arboretum and a well. At the "La Librotte" sign, turn left for 800 m. Reach the "Aillargues" signpost, then turn left to join "le Chemin de Sares et Prelong" (GR63 Chemin Urbain V, red and white markings). Turn right to take the original path towards the village of Blauzac.

A nice family hike in the shade which offers magnificent panoramas on the surrounding cliffs. You will discover the cave of the hermitage dating from the Neolithic period and the Romanesque chapel of Notre-Dame de Laval dating from the 12th century. From the parking of the market place in Collias, cross the bridge of Collias and pass the Maison du Castor. Turn left at the signpost "Le Grand Devois" and follow the yellow markings. Then, during approximately 600m, you will follow the Gardon on the right bank to arrive at the signpost "le Cantadu". Take the left path (stone cross) towards the Hermitage for 1,7km. You will arrive on the site of the cave of the hermitage and the Romanesque chapel Notre-Dame de Laval.*. Then take the track on the right towards Collias and "Contadu" for 2km. Then continue on the main path following the yellow markings. You will find the path taken at the beginning of the hike. * Possibility of a variant by the big loop (12.2km / 4h15) At the sign "Grand serre" turn left and follow the path for 3.1km (yellow markings). At the signpost "Caunèze" take the path on the left and follow the path for 1.9km. Continue straight ahead. At the signpost "la Torte" go straight on for 3.8km to reach the village of Collias.

This walk will make you discover the heart of the Gorges du Gardon up to the magnificent and wild site of La Baume. It is the only itinerary that goes along the Gardon. Not recommended in case of recent rains, the banks may be submerged in some places. To park on the parking lot (paying) 2 avenue du Pont du Gard in Collias Take the direction of Pont St Vincent and follow the path on the right which goes up the Gardon, direction "La Baume". Continue straight ahead to find the yellow markings and the signs "Queue du Grand Glas" then "Vallon de la Caille". At about 750m pass a small passage which goes along a big rock. Continue straight ahead to find the ruins of an old mill. Continue straight on for 300m along the river then go up on the right by a narrow path which continues then by a track direction "La Coufine" on 2.2 kms. * At the crossroads, turn right towards "les Condamines" by the GR6-GR63 Then always straight on towards Collias by following the red and white markings to reach the signs "La Grande Terre" (stay on the GR6-GR63 and leave the track which leaves on the left), then "Ménude" and Collias. You arrive in Collias by the path "Vai Aure". At the crossroads, turn left "chemin du Barry". Turn right to take the "Grand rue" which crosses the village to reach the sign "Collias - Le Portalet". Turn left and go up the rue de la République. At the end of the street, turn right into the Avenue du Pont and walk 150m to reach the Parking. * A variant can be proposed to you by taking on the right direction the Chapel St Veredème. It is then possible to join the plateau of garrigue and the GR6-GR63 by a steep path " Les Condamines Sanilhac.

Through the garrigue, discover the site of the "vallon d'Escaunes" and the tunnels dug by the Romans for the passage of the aqueduct. From the fortified church of St Bonnet du Gard enjoy the panorama of the Rhone valley and the Mont Ventoux. From the "Chemin du Sablas" parking lot (town hall) in Saint-Bonnet-du-Gard, head towards "la place de la Fontaine". Then cross the D6086 (be careful) to reach "rue de l'Hôtel de Ville" and climb up to the fortified church. Continue straight on, following the red-and-white signs: you'll pass the "Ferraud" and "Sous Ferraud" signposts. Turn left onto the path and follow the yellow markings for 800 m to the "La Draille de Perotte" sign. At the fork in the road, take the left-hand path for 300 m to reach the Roman tunnels. Follow the signs for "Chemin de ronde", "Le Vallon" and "Le Roliss" for 600 m, then go straight on to join the "Chemin de l'Aqueduc". When you reach Sernhac, continue straight on until you reach the "Chemin des cavaliers", then turn right to drive alongside the multi-purpose hall. Follow this path for 900 m, then turn right to reach the "Pied de Vallajouse" sign (yellow markings). Continue straight on for 1.2 km towards Saint-Bonnet-du-Gard. At the intersection, go straight on ("Garrigues Brasses"), then join the D6086. Turn right to find "Place de la Fontaine" (take care when crossing) and the Sablas parking lot.

This bike tour will take you on a journey of discovery of grandiose sites such as the famous Pont du Gard, the town of Uzès, and the natural site of the Gorges du Gardon and its wildlife! Start: Uzès - refuge parking lot. From the Arènes parking lot in Uzès, walk along the arènes, then turn right onto the Chemin de l'Escalette. Continue straight on towards Pamperigouste, then take the Chemin du Moulin de Bargeton to the D981 (⚠️ - take care). Follow chemin Lou Saute to La Caillèraie, then turn right onto chemin de Perret towards Sagries. Join the D212 (⚠️) to Sanilhac-Sagriès. Take avenue du stade, then turn left into allée des Platanes. Join the D112 towards Collias (⚠️ caution). Follow the route d'Uzès through Collias, then turn right towards Le Plan. Continue along chemin de Coste Garoute, then chemin du Grès, before branching off onto chemin de la Draille and chemin du Garrège. Follow the Chemin des Bégudes and the Chemin de Valive to reach the Pont du Gard. Cross the Pont du Gard site via avenue du Pont-du-Gard, then join the D981 (⚠️ vigilance) and cross the Gardon towards Remoulins via chemin de Castillon-du-Gard and the D892. In Remoulins, take chemin de la Coste and then the D228, before rejoining the D981 in the Bégude-de-Vers-Pont-du-Gard sector. Continue on the D227 (route d'Argilliers) then the D3B (route d'Uzès). Continue straight on towards Castille, then take the Chemin de Bornegre and the D365 (Les Santolines). Pass through La Calotte and Carrignargues. Turn right onto the D981 to reach the Haribo museum, then right onto Chemin de l'Escalette. Climb for 1.5 km to reach the starting point.

After strolling through the narrow streets of the Duchy of Uzès, take time to discover the Alzon gorges and the beautiful capitelles, witnesses to a rich agricultural region. From the bottom of the Refuge parking lot, climb the steps and turn right. At "les Arènes", turn right down the street (GR 63). At the "patte d'oie" (crow's-foot), turn left down a tarmac and then dirt track. At "l'escalette", continue down the track, pass the "Moulin de Carrière" and turn right. Go past the two "Château Bérard" signposts and follow "saint-Maximin" along a path leading up to a track on the right. At "Chemin du Mazet" (GR 63 split), follow signs for "La Montagne" on the left. At the gate (on the right, a capitelle, private road), continue straight ahead on a path climbing to a track, which you take to the left for 200m. Alternative (less than 7km): go straight on, following "Chemin du château d'eau" then "Route de Saint-Siffret". At "La Montagne", turn right onto "Saint-Maximin". Cross the track. Continue for 500m, then leave the track and turn left onto a path winding through the forest (follow the signs). At "Chemin des Chaussettes", leave the track and turn left onto a stony path leading downhill (capitelle on the right). At "Combe de l'Evescat", take the path up to the plateau. At "Chemin de Saint-Quentin", turn left. Go through two gates, then cross a road and take the track opposite. At "les planes", follow the stony downhill track. At "Les planes-Le Bas", follow "Route de Saint-Siffret", "Table d'Orientation". At the plateau, take the right-hand track. After 300 m, turn left onto the Chemin des Capitelles (numerous capitelles). On returning to the track, turn right twice and follow the asphalt path straight ahead. At "Route de Saint-Siffret", follow the track to the right. At "Table d'Orientation", follow "La Montagnette" to the left (viewpoint), then take the track to the right. After 200 m, take the downhill track to the right (view of Uzès). At "La Montagnette", follow "Vallée de l'Eure" then "Le Moulin du Tournal". Follow the Aqueduct on the left (700m round trip). Follow signs for "André Gide", cross the footbridge over the Alzon and climb a stony path. At "André Gide", take the path that climbs to the right. At "Cathédrale Saint-Theodorit", follow the boulevard to the left, then rue de Gisfort, up la Traverse and rue Saint-Ferréol. At "Rue de l'Escalette", turn left into rue de l'Escalette as far as "Les Arènes".

Quand l’amour éclaire l’amphithéâtre de Nîmes !

The amphitheatre (or arena) at Nîmes is the best preserved in the Roman world. From the end of the 1st century AD, it hosted wild animal hunts and gladiatorial combats. Today, numerous events take place here. The amphitheatre is 133 m long and 101 m wide. 21 m high, with two levels of arcades, its exterior façade is divided into 60 bays. Numerous staircases and 5 circular galleries ensure optimal circulation. More than 23,000 Gallo-Romans attended the gladiatorial and animal fights on the 34 tiers, according to their social rank. In the Middle Ages, the monument was transformed into a fortress, providing refuge for the population in case of danger. Later, the interior was occupied by private homes until the 19th century. In 1809, the houses, chapels and château of the Viscounts of Nîmes were demolished to restore the monument to its former glory. Today, the arena offers a prestigious setting for numerous events. They host bullfights, congresses, concerts and sporting events. Religious buildings suffered during the Wars of Religion. The cathedral was destroyed twice and rebuilt on the ruins. There are elements of the 11th-century Romanesque church (frieze, tower, wall sections), 17th-century neo-Gothic architecture and 19th-century renovation. Don't miss the medieval frieze of the first cathedral. September 29, 1567: the story of the Michelade at Saint Castor Cathedral. Catholics were thrown into the well in the bishop's courtyard on the side of the cathedral, and Protestant rioters attacked the cathedral, attempting to destroy the bell tower. The Cathedral underwent two renovations: the first from 1877 to 1882 by architect Henri Revoil, and the second and last in 1904. Of the original 11th-century building, the façade and a bas-relief Old Testament suite remain. It was rebuilt in the 17th century and remodeled internally in the 19th century in the neo-Gothic style. Remarkable 17th-century organs, a Gallo-Roman sarcophagus and paintings by local masters stand side by side. Une végétalisation est effectuée à partir de différentes essences, telles que le pin d’Alep, le chêne vert, le cyprès etc. Des cheminements sont réalisés permettant aux promeneurs de découvrir différentes mises en scène comme la grotte de style rocailleux. Au bout de ces sentiers, un monument remarquable domine le jardin : la Tour Magne. Depuis, de nombreux espaces ont été créés permettant d’enrichir ce lieu, tels que le jardin de rocaille, savant mélange de rochers et de plantes méditerranéennes, le bassin Montgolfier avec ses plantes aquatiques, le jardin de Mazet.
