The Bazas - Castets and Castillon cycle route, an essential stage in the Tour de Gironde by bike, takes you either to the Entre-deux-Mers or to the South of Gironde. The landscapes it passes through are shaped on the one hand by mixed farming: wine, livestock and poultry farming, market gardening, cereals, wicker and tobacco, and on the other hand, by a rich natural and built heritage.

This walk takes you in the footsteps of the Gascon Pope Clement V. You will then walk through pine and fern forests until you discover beautiful lagoons and the inevitable Ciron. If you are lucky, wild animals, roe deer or hares may surprise you during your walk!

For children aged 6 to 12, accompanied by their parents. "Sur les Pistes de Robin" (On Robin's Tracks) allows children to discover the historical heritage of the village of Uzeste with the help of a document containing amusing questions, riddles and charades. It is by taking part of the Mios-Bazas cycle path that you can admire the landscapes of the Bazadais as well as some testimonies of its glorious past such as the castle of Roquetaillade.

Between pine forests and remarkable heritage, the Bazas-Mios bicycle path enchants both sportsmen and bicycle lovers. This stage of the Tour de Gironde by bike crosses a part of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park and offers varied landscapes.

The Vézelay route enters the Gironde at the bridge of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande. Over a good hundred kilometres, through the vineyards of Entre-deux-Mers, then beyond La Réole, through the Bazadais to the entrance to the Landes de Gascogne forest, the pilgrim discovers territories steeped in history and a considerable Jacobean heritage.

A former collegiate church, now listed as a historical monument, which houses the tomb of Pope Clement V. Treasury Room with precious liturgical objects which belonged to the various churches in the canton of Villandraut. Open all year round from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., guided tours on request. Also on request, lectures with slideshows on the subject: Clement V and the church of Uzeste, Eleanor of Aquitaine and the 2nd crusade, the Templars, the trial of the Templars, the Black Prince.

Château Guiraud takes its name from a Bordeaux negociant, Pierre Guiraud, who purchased the estate in 1766. Included among the first growths in the 1855 classification, Château Guiraud has more than a hundred hectares of vines. This magnificent property is well-known for their natural approach to viticulture. This entailed building an insect hotel, planting five kilometers of hedges, developing genetic diversity, studying and propagating vines in a conservatory, etc. Château Guiraud is currently the only first growth in the 1855 classification to be officially certified for organic viticulture. The estate’s ecological orientation helps to produce great wines with a strong personality and tremendous finesse. Château Guiraud is profound and well-focuses with fruity and mineral flavours of extreme freshness.

Founded in the eighteenth century, Château La Tour Blanche is a 40 hectares estate located in the commune of Bommes. The last owner, Daniel "Osiris" Iffla, left the chateau to the French state, on the condition that a Wine School was set up offering free practical experience.

The work of several centuries, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Premier Grand Cru Classé de Sauternes in 1855, has been owned by Silvio Denz, who also owns the Lalique crystal factory, since 2014 The vineyard has 18 hectares throughout the appellation. The wine tourism team will be happy to welcome you to discover the history of the vineyard and its wines as well as the fusion between the Lalique crystal factory and the world of a Premier Grand Cru Classé. In the historic cellars, you will discover the Lalique crystal barrel, a unique piece of art created to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the estate.

Château Sigalas Rabaud is the smallest estate of the 1855’s “1er Grands Crus”, with 14 hectares in one piece of homogeneous soil. At the heart of this land, you will find the Charterhouse (situated at less than 500 meters from the Château d'Yquem), surrounded by the storehouse and outbuildings. The vineyard is well exposed to the wind, which dry grapes affected by Botrytis cinerea (also known as noble rot). All the conditions are met to achieve excellence... For any technical visits and private wine tasting with the owners (group from 4 to 10 persons), please take an appointment before.

L'Absolu welcomes you in an elegant and refined setting, in a natural and warm atmosphere. The chef proposes, among other specialities, fresh duck liver escalopes fried with pears, a grenadine of veal with the delights of the undergrowth, a crispy monkfish and scallops with turmeric ... Take part in a guided walking tour of the walled medieval village of Saint-Macaire! Two mission crosses evoke the memory of the passage of priests charged with maintaining religious fervour at Nizan in the 1900s. One, made of stone and wrought iron, is placed very close to the church. The other is located not far away, in the cemetery. Made of stone, the latter is composed of a fluted shaft topped by a potent cross.

Château Beauregard Ducasse was established by Albert Duran in 1850 in Mazères in the south of the Graves appellation. Jacques Perromat (6th generation of Perromat winegrowers) took over the property from his in-laws in 1983. He has been able to combine technology and tradition to express the best potential of such a terroir. The Beauregard Ducasse terroir is marked by its complexity: gravel, sand and ferruginous concretions with a dominant clay-limestone. Our particularity is to be exposed on the highest hillside of the Graves appellation area, which gives us an excellent maturity of the grapes.

In the outskirts of Bazas, about sixty kilometres south of Bordeaux, Roquetaillade château is proud of a rich history as shown by its variety of architectural styles. Roquetaillade has the particularity of being formed by two fortified castles from the 12th and 14th centuries. Firstly, look at the ramparts, towers and keeps and the elegant Renaissance chimneys, said to be the first in the region. Then, more surprisingly, behind the medieval facade, the design of the great architect from the 19th century, Viollet-le-Duc. Note the grand staircase in the keep, based on a design rejected by the Paris Opera. In a Neo-gothic style, the rooms and little chapel of the park are decorated in bright colours and patterns, like this pink bedroom with a canopy bed and its box section ceiling. Before leaving, stop in front of the dovecote which is still in use, where the birds will delight children.

The Château de Roquetaillade museum preserves the rural memory of the Bazadaise region. It complements the visit to the château and introduces you to country life and its evolution from 1850 to 1950. Discover the farmhouse, its décor, its tools, its smells, its endangered farm animals (Bazadaise cattle, Gascony chickens and pigs, Pyrenean donkeys), the wine storehouse, the 12th-century dovecote and the bread oven. This farmhouse is a marvel of authenticity and culture, for young and old alike.

The church, located in the centre of the village, has a single nave without vaults and a flat chevet. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries, but its west façade was built in the 19th century. However, a window in the south wall is in Romanesque style.

It was during the Revolution that the parish of Saint-Pierre de Cuilleron and its annex, Saint-Léger d'Aubiac, formed the commune of Aubiac. The church of Saint-Pierre, located away from the town proper, houses a 12th century bronze bell which was listed as a historical monument in 1912.

The church, once consecrated to Saint-Saturnin, the first bishop of Toulouse in the 3rd century, is now called Saint-Louis. Surrounded by a shady square, with trees of various species, it has a square bell tower with a stone spire above its arched portal. At the level of the main apse, the original cornice is intact.

This church, of which only ruins remain, was until 1846 the seat of an archpriest. Several caves surround the site.
