All along the route along these waterways, you'll be able to observe a whole world of exceptional animals and plants, right in the heart of the city. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. You'll enjoy the freshness of this bucolic stroll, and see a wealth of fauna (frogs, dragonflies, trout) and flora (calltriches, potamots, rubanier): a veritable corridor for biodiversity. Leaving from the Tourist Office. Cross the crosswalk at the Fontaine Monumentale. Take rue Sévigné and turn left at rue du Refuge. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

La Martinette is a small canal which runs quietly through the town. It provides a pleasant walkway where one can forget the sound of vehicles and admire the flora and fauna of the waterway The course of the river, still visible along Place de la Presle, gives visitors a glimpse of Romans' rich industrial past. Further upstream, in the heart of the city, you can follow a rural itinerary along the banks of the canal (with its many plant and animal species). The canal and its surroundings are home to numerous plant species, such as the groenlanda densa, and animal species, such as the newt, the frog and the leech, which live only in waters that are not very polluted. Their presence testifies to the good quality of the Martinette's waters. Discover the history of this canal with guided tours organized by the Sauvegarde du Patrimoine Romanais Péageois in collaboration with the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire Valence Romans Agglo department.

The historic town center boasts an original and diverse medieval and Renaissance heritage. The social organization of the town at that time is clearly visible. To the south and north, the bell towers of the collegiate church of Saint Barnard and the Jacquemart tower symbolize the long-standing conflicts between the religious power of the canons and the secular power of the town's consuls, established in 1366. Alongside the Hôtel de Clérieu, a fortified house of ancient origin, the bourgeoisie, enriched by the wool trade, built imposing townhouses. Today, most of these are privately owned and can only be visited on guided tours. Finally, the old streets reveal architectural details that bear witness to the city's development from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. After the destruction of the medieval ramparts in the mid-19th century, the town expanded northwards. A new district emerged, located between the historic center and the train station. The local economy undergoes new developments with the installation of shoe manufacturing workshops. The need for labor led to a sharp rise in population, from 10,000 in 1850 to 20,000 in 1940 and 30,000 in 1968. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Romans was also a garrison town, housing several barracks. Today's city center gradually took on the face we know today. Explore one of the most interesting and less accessible natural sites in the area: the Daronne Gorges. A superb hike around the plateau and the river making its way through it. The Belvédère de Saint-Sorny offers a breathtaking view of the intertwined meanders of the Gorges de la Daronne, which you then cross via an attractive suspended footbridge. Don't forget to stop off at the 13th-century Saint-Sorny chapel. In spring, you may be lucky enough to witness the love parade of the Short-toed Eagle, or observe the passage of a beaver or otter, the characteristic fauna of the Daronne Gorge.

The 45th parallel is a circle of latitude that is 45 degrees north of the Earth's equatorial plane, it represents the halfway point between the Equator and the North Pole. Passing in Pont de l'Isère, it is symbolized there by a sculpture of Deluol.

Once a fisherman's village, now an islet! Traditional fishermen's stone cottages and listed monuments, history has left some memorable sites in the old village centre on the banks of the River Rhône. Two listed historic monuments in the heart of the village: the Tour Diane de Poitiers and the Porte Roussillon. Other curiosities: lime kilns outside the village center, the Tour de Plomb overlooking the center (private monument), potters' workshops. The Bassin des Musards offers a walking trail, a children's playground, fishing and jousting tournaments. Since the construction of the CNR dam on the Rhône, La Roche de Glun has been surrounded by the river and canal: it's now an island!

In 1342, La Roche de Glun obtained the Charter for Liberties from Humbert II du Dauphiné and ramparts were built. Two gates allowed access to the village. Only the Porte Roussillon remains.

Probably built in 1342 as a defensive tower, it was reworked during the Renaissance time. It has a nice spiral staircase and offers a viewpoint over the village. In the Guards Room next to it, a nice chimney. Building on the French Register of Monuments. The building is listed as a historical monument. It now houses the municipal library, and the Salle des Gardes regularly hosts temporary exhibitions.

This Moorish house confirms the 19th century enthusiasm for Orientalism. Only the facade is visible from the outside. In 1858, the industrialist Charles Ferlin purchased land on the corner of Grande Rue to build a very unusual-looking house. He had the façade decorated with a facing of moulded cement to create a clever effect featuring a combination of Oriental influences (such as arcs and floral decorations) and medieval references, including gargoyles.

Built during the beginning of the 16th century, this house gives evidence of the transition of the Flamboyant Gothic style to the Renaissance. It has been named that way because of the many heads carved on its facade, in the corridor and in the courtyard. On the front facade, winds, wealth, time and iconic characters representing theology, law and medicine are represented. In 1548, in the Cathedral cloisters was constructed the funerary monument of the Canon (priest) Mistral. Constructed in molasse stone, its triumphal arch shape bears witness to the increased interest in Antiquity by the Renaissance movement. Sold as national property in 1796, the crypt was used at the end of the 18th century as a cellar and cesspool. Acquired by the City, the Pendentif was one of the first listed monuments in France (1840) barely three years after the creation of the Commission des Monuments Historiques and the passage of Prosper Mérimée in Drôme.

The Armenian Heritage Center is above all an original place of history which aims to provide keys to understanding the world around us. Films, multimedia, interactive maps make the permanent route lively and accessible to all. The exhibitions and animations offered throughout the year make it possible to broaden the subject and constitute real times of discussion and conviviality. The permanent exhibition brings together big and small stories about the Armenian genocide. A sensitive staging puts into perspective one of the significant episodes of the 20th century. The visitor discovers the history and culture of the Armenians through a veritable "journey" of exhibition, divided into seven sequences. More than 2,000 archival documents feed it. The public is then guided by an inventive and sensitive scenography, which exhibits the emblematic everyday objects before illustrating the genocide, the exile, then the arrival in France and the different forms of integration. Organized chronologically, this route thus offers several levels of reading and deepening: the visitor can stay at a first level of reading thanks to the general texts and illustrations, or enrich his discovery by exploiting all the mediation tools present in the scenography.

Saint-Apollinaire Cathedral is one of Valence's oldest monuments. It stands at the center of the cathedral quarter, adjacent to the ancient Paleo-Christian baptistery and the episcopal palace (now a museum) to the south. Consecrated on August 5, 1095 by Pope Urban II, it was destroyed during the Wars of Religion, then rebuilt identically in the 17th century. The cathedral has undergone numerous modifications. In the 18th century, Bishop Alexandre Milon de Mesme lavishly refurbished his church. He financed the great organ and its case, a new marble altar and decorated the walls with master paintings. The monument to Pope Pius VI, who died in Valence in 1799 as a prisoner of the Directoire, was placed in the choir. The old bell tower-porch, which threatened to fall into ruin after being struck by lightning, was replaced in the 19th century. Cute, cosy interior In the shade of the cherry trees, you can enjoy the garden, with its table and hammock. Inside the roulotte, you'll find a bathroom (shower, toilet, washbasin), a bedroom and a well-equipped kitchen. The swimming pool is shared with the other rentals. For a larger number of guests, you can rent another 2-person roulotte, the Tiny roulotte chambre d'appoint, equipped with a double bed (140cm) and a shower room. The two roulottes can be rented together or separately.

Our concern is to give you the best possible welcome, to listen to your needs, and to share our knowledge of the region with you if you wish, so that you don't miss a thing. Concerned about nature and the environment, you'll be welcomed in accommodation made with quality, natural materials, charm and authenticity. As for the garden, you'll see the diversity of shrubs and flowers that make it up, as well as fruit orchards and vineyards, as we're in the heart of the Crozes-Hermitage AOC appellation.
