The village of Ponet is leaned against the mountain of Desse, linking with the municipality of Marignac. The village was built around its old castle. The old stone houses and the small Romanesque church give all its charm to this small village.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Regional Natural Park of Vercors participated in an operation to reintroduce vultures fawn on the scale of the Pre-Alps. These birds had disappeared from our mountains in the 19th century. A vast population now occupies a space that goes from the Spanish Pyrenees to the Vercors and that the birds run freely (the observation of the banded birds proves it to us). The Col de Rousset and the circus of Archiane are two sites of rest and nesting of these great gliders (almost 3m of wingspan). The But de l'Aiglette with its 1524 m, is a promontory of the cliffs South of the Vercors. The 360 ° panorama is magnificent: from the Diois to the South to the plateau of Vercors in the North.

On the slopes of the Glandasse mountain, the abbey of Valcroissant was founded around 1188, it takes its name from the stream La Valcroissant which flows nearby. The construction of the abbey, between the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century, combines the characteristic forms of Romanesque art with the beginnings of the Gothic. The lack of financial resources and the difficulties of the 15th and 16th centuries accelerated the deterioration of buildings. Beginning in 1568, the abbey no longer had a function as a farm.This Cistercian abbey has been classified as a historical monument since 1971. Many restoration works have since been carried out by the owners in collaboration with the association "Friends of Valcroissant".

At about 500 meters from your position, you can see the pass of Vassieux. It has most probably been a place of exchange and passage from the Middle Palaeolithic, 50 000 years ago. What is certainly certain is that he later connected Die to Vassieux-en-Vercors. In 5 hours' walk, the cheeses, wool and charcoal produced at Vassieux were brought down, to climb painfully from the town of Die, wine, sugar, clothing and various tools. The vast forests that you will cross are managed by the National Forestry Office. Although located on the territory of Vassieux-en-Vercors, which is responsible for the maintenance of forest roads (as these are communal roads, they are the public property of Vassieux), the forests themselves belong in reality to the town of Die and the town of Marignac-en-Diois. Our peaceful, friendly and wooded campsite is on the edge of the river and near the heritage town of Die. Our pitches are shaded, 400m² each and offer superb panoramic views on the Vercors mountains. Modern amenities blocks with disabled access and a baby bath. The campsite is 10mn walk from the historic centre, by the river side and close to outdoor activities and walking path. Enjoy some peace and quiet in a natural, family-friendly campsite. What we do for the environment: we use compost bins, our water is solar-heated and we do not use pesticides on the campsite ground. And for our cyclists friends: we provide a locked bike shed and organise daily bike rides for groups.
