For the more sporting enthusiasts of mountain bike, this complete and varied circuit is cut out for you! Departure from the parking lot of Grand Echaillon, take the direction of the Col du Lion. Always follow the MTB beacons n°52 in black and the yellow and green markings between each directional sign. Continue on the itinerary of the Grand Tour du Vercors passing by Gampaloux and then gradually start the beautiful descent to Bouvante-le-Haut. From there, continue south through Logue before going up the Toulau creek. Beware in rainy weather, some passages can be delicate and slippery until the famous Saut de la Truite At Gardiol parking lot, be careful you enter the Ambel estate, classified as a Natural Area Sensitive, regulations must be observed! Join the Ambel Refuge via the Combe de la Louvaterre and Le Verâtre. At the Pas du Gouillat, bypass the Roc de Toulau to reach the Col de la Bataille by the GR 93. Finish this magnificent loop by driving to La Pelouse de la Sausse then Echaillon sheepfold.

The Grand Échaillon covered with snow is a really magical sight. Snowshoeing is the perfect way to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of nature in winter through the different landscapes all along this itinerary. Ranging from wide open spaces with spectacular panoramic views to the muffled silence of winter woodlands, this trail is bound to whet your appetite for more snowshoe adventures.

All along the route along these waterways, you'll be able to observe a whole world of exceptional animals and plants, right in the heart of the city. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

You then have 2.5km to travel in an almost Mediterranean atmosphere to reach the place of departure.

It provides a pleasant walkway where one can forget the sound of vehicles and admire the flora and fauna of the waterway The course of the river, still visible along Place de la Presle, gives visitors a glimpse of Romans' rich industrial past. Further upstream, in the heart of the city, you can follow a rural itinerary along the banks of the canal (with its many plant and animal species). The canal and its surroundings are home to numerous plant species, such as the groenlanda densa, and animal species, such as the newt, the frog and the leech, which live only in waters that are not very polluted. Their presence testifies to the good quality of the Martinette's waters. After the destruction of the medieval ramparts in the mid-19th century, the town expanded northwards. A new district emerged, located between the historic center and the train station. The local economy undergoes new developments with the installation of shoe manufacturing workshops. The need for labor led to a sharp rise in population, from 10,000 in 1850 to 20,000 in 1940 and 30,000 in 1968. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Romans was also a garrison town, housing several barracks. Today's city center gradually took on the face we know today. It was under the abbey of Jean de Bonnevaux that Léoncel was created on August 23, 1137, with the arrival of 12 monks. The community was erected as an abbey, and its church was consecrated in 1188 by Robert de la Tour du Pin Archbishop of Vienna, the Pope's legate, the bishops of Die and Valencia. In keeping with the peculiar rules of simplicity, this Cistercian edifice of pure Romanesque style is in perfect harmony with the rigor of the landscape. The abbey church has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1854.

The GTV passes a few cables from Léoncel, the village regroups a few houses around a very beautiful Cistercian abbey of the XIIth century. This Romanesque-style building, very stripped of its limestone, is perfectly suited to its surroundings. It is classified among historical monuments since the 19th century thanks to Prosper Mérimée.

The Gervanne is a tributary of the Drôme, 30 km long, it takes its source at the foot of the Col de la Bataille, on the edge of the Vercors cliffs. It hosts a remarkable population of trout fario. Beavers are also found downstream of Beaufort. La Gervanne gives its name to this region of the South-East of the Vercors.

Within each cascade takes place a chemical reaction. Limestone, like sugar or salt, has the property of dissolving in water. Now the water that has just crossed the mountain is loaded with dissolved limestone, invisible. The water suddenly begins to deposit limestone because of the combined effect of the rise in temperature and oxygenation. The foams take advantage of the carbon dioxide released during the chemical reaction. Condemned to see the limestone deposited on them and transform them literally into stone, they grow incessantly. The tuff thus created is a material comparable to cellular concrete (lightweight but resistant) much used for construction locally.

The Moulin de la Pipe, named after a miller of the early twentieth century, Jean Géry, who was a great smoker and who was nicknamed "Jean de la Pipe". But on the Napoleonic cadastre, it is referenced under the historical name of "Moulin de Léaussel".After the flood of 1914 which carried off the canal, the dam and the mill installations, Jean de la Pipe sold the building to a resident of the Pescher du Bas. The purchaser Gagnol Adonis and his wife Julienne, born Bouillanne, transformed the Moulin into an inn from 1918. In 1935, they in turn gave it to Auguste Rey and Marie Bouvat of the hamlet of Ansage who exploited it for a year.In 1936, René Belle, who came from the Royans Isérois, bought them the Moulin. Advised by a traveling grocer of the valley, he launched the same year in the creation of an industrial dairy, producing butter and cheese with the milk collected in the neighboring communes.Meanwhile, the activity of the Inn could be maintained thanks to the excellent Georgette Charbonnel who prepared daily meals for workers and travelers. After providing employment to the inhabitants of Omblèze and the neighboring communes for half a century, the dairy experienced financial difficulties, so that it had to cease its activity in 1983. Georgette Charbonnel, the famous chef of the Moulin, which became a local celebrity, will have delighted the inhabitants of the region as well as the tourists from 1936 to 1985. She left the Pipe in 1986, where she lived and worked for 49 years.

The Gorges d'Omblèze result from the erosion of the limestone plateau by the Gervanne, this incision made perpendicularly to the mountain is called a cluse. Here, water is omnipresent, with waterfalls and lush vegetation that bring freshness on hot summer days. Part of the Gorges is regulated (classified site).

With the disappearance of the brown bear, deer became the largest mammal in the massif, up to 250 kg for males. The woods of males can weigh from 7 to 9 kilos, they fall each year in March-April. From mid-September to mid-October, when the deer burst, they will breed in the nearby forest of Ambel.
