All along the route along these waterways, you'll be able to observe a whole world of exceptional animals and plants, right in the heart of the city. This walk will take you through the Chateauvert district, where you can admire springs from the Vercors, including the Malcontents fountain, as well as shared gardens and protected wetlands. You'll enjoy the freshness of this bucolic stroll, and see a wealth of fauna (frogs, dragonflies, trout) and flora (calltriches, potamots, rubanier): a veritable corridor for biodiversity. Leaving from the Tourist Office. Cross the crosswalk at the Fontaine Monumentale. Take rue Sévigné and turn left at rue du Refuge. Turn right up Canal des Moulins (the canal is on your left), passing between the buildings to reach the Chamfort parking lot. Continue along the canal to cross Cours Voltaire, then Rue Chateauvert. The canal is now on your right. Continue on the sidewalk along Rue des Moulins. Turn right onto Chemin du Ruisseau to rue Derodon. Cross the street and turn slightly right to join the path alongside the canal, which is now on your left. Cross Rue Jean Henri Fabre, and continue along the path until you come to Rue des Frères Montgolfier. Turn left up rue Montgolfier to the intersection with rue des Moulins. Turn right and walk down the street until you come to Chemin du Thon. Cross the latter and enter the park in front of you. Follow the driveway through the park until you reach the canal. Turn right again and turn left into rue Marius Moutet. Go up the street and cross rue Louis Ageron. Continue along rue Marius Moutet until you reach the impasse de la Petite Marquise on your left. This leads to Chemin de Robinson. Turn right onto Chemin de Laplat. Cross the road and enter the Fédération de Pêche parking lot. Take the left-hand path and follow the loop back to the Petite Marquise canal. Turn left and follow the canal (which is on your right). Cross rue Auguste Giraud. Continue ahead on the path. At the end, turn right, then left to reach the start of the allée Adolphe Pegoud. Take a few steps to your right and you'll be on Avenue Jean Clément. Turn left and stay on the sidewalk along the canal. Avenue des Baumes is the continuation of Avenue Clément. At the intersection with rue Paul Gataud (on the left), cross Avenue des Baumes and continue along the sidewalk. Pass the soccer pitch, the veterinary clinic and the tabac Presse. After the latter, turn right and follow the canal de la Grande Marquise, continue on Impasse d'Alzon, then at the end turn right up rue de Thibert until you cross rue Chateauvert. Cross and turn left. Take the 2nd lane on the left (before the butcher's shop) to follow the Canal des Malcontents Nord. After the children's playground, turn left into the park and walk up the driveway. Take Rue Sainte Thérèse on the left as far as Rue Chateauvert, then turn right up this street. On the left, follow Résidence Chateauvert along the canal (do not turn right into Résidence Chateauvert). Cross Rue de Serbie, continue straight on until you reach Rue Jean Joseph Génissieu. Turn right and follow this up to Place de la Paix. Continue straight ahead on Cours Voltaire until you come to Rue du Clos Gaillard. Turn left into Rue Paul Bert. Turn right in the direction of the train station and return to your starting point.

The short cycling trail along the river Rhône is ideal for a family outing, mostly on safe, nature cycling routes. On the longer trail, amateur cyclists will be thrilled with the view after an uphill effort to Pic Saint-Romain. Go along the ViaRhôna to Tournon-sur-Rhône. 1. 7,8 km Cross the footbridge onto the green route “Chabalet” heading towards Valence. 2. 16,4 km Get back onto the ViaRhôna heading to Tournon and cross over the river Rhône and its canal again. 3. 19,1 km Continue straight on the main road. 4. 20 km Turn left signed up Saint-Péray. 5. 21,3 km Turn right signed up Saint-Romain-de-Lerps. 6. 26,3 km Turn right at Combes onto “route de Combes”. 7. 29,1 km Turn right at the stop sign, continue to Pic de Lerps viewpoint then retrace your steps. 7. 30 km Back at the crossroads, follow signs to Saint-Sylvestre. 8. 31,4 km Turn right onto “route de Plats” to the village. 9. 35,9 km Turn right after the church onto the main road to Mauves. 10. 43,2 km Turn right at the stop sign leading into Mauves then continue through the village. 11. 45,3 km Turn left just before the railway line then return to Glun.

Like an immense green velvet blanket, the plain of Crozes Hermitage stretches as far as the eye can see. Wandering in free wheel will perhaps lead you to one of the numerous wine cellars. Halfway you will begin to see the purple grape replaced by the blue water of the rivers Rhône and Isère as you ride along on safe cycling routes. Head north towards “Domaine Breyton” for 900m then follow the sign to Chanos Curson. 1. 1,9 km Turn left onto “chemin de Compostelle”. 2. 3,2 km Turn right at the giveway sign then continue opposite at the following stop sign onto “chemin des Littes” to the centre of Chanos. 3. 5,4 km Turn left onto “route du Riou” continue for 400m then turn right onto “chemin de Veaunes and immediately left “chemin des Odouards”. 4. 6,6 km Turn right onto “route des Pends” to Mercurol. 5. 8,5 km Follow the D115 towards Veaunes.6. 10,8 km Turn left onto “route des charmes”. 7. 11,4 km Turn right at the stop sign after the church then left onto “rue de l’eau vive” then left agein. 8. 12,1 km Turn right onto “route des sources”. 9. 13,3 km Turn right onto “route des vignes de la cure” then first left onto “route du Mont-Laurent”. 10. 15,3 km Turn left at the stop sign, immediately left onto “rue du côteau” then left again at the following stop sign onto “rue des pierres”. 11. 16,1 km Turn left at the stop sign onto “route de Romans” then follow the signs Châteauneuf-sur-Isère at the roundabout. 12. 17,8 km Turn left onto “chemin de la plaine”. 13. 18,7 km Turn left at the 2 giveway signs. 14. 19,7 km Straight on at the giveway sign following signs for Saint-Jean then turn left onto “route des collines”. 15. 21,1 km Turn right at the stop sign onto “route de Romans” then at the roundabout straight on “route des champs”. 16. 23,3 km Turn right onto “route des pierres”. 17. 24,3 km Turn right onto “route du barrage” then follow the Vallée de l’Isère cycling route heading west to Pontde- l’Isère.18. 38,2 km Follow the ViaRhôna towards Tain. 19. 39,6 km Leave the ViaRhôna turning right onto a path through the woods. 20. 40,7 km Turn right at the stop sign then straight on at the roundabout. 21. 41,5 km Turn right towards Les Gours. 22. 43,3 km Turn left towards the “quartier “les pibouleries” then first left and first right. 23. 44,3 km Turn right at the giveway sign. 24. 45,7 km Turn left onto the Via Magne. 25. 46,2 km Go opposite onto the main road towards Tain. 26. 49 km Turn right onto “ch. de Chapon”. 27. 50,1 km Turn right at the stop sign then straight on at the following 2. 28. 52,2 km Turn right at the giveway sign then immediately left towards Chasselières then straight on to Beaumont-Monteux (don’t follow signs to Chassellières after left turn).

La Voulte-sur-Rhône is the starting point of the Dolce Via route. You leave ViaRhôna to cycle into the Eyrieux valley in pursuit of the old locomotives. Your adventure in the footsteps of the old railway line begins in the middle of the peach orchards where you begin a spectacular and gentle climb up the valley to Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux. Add the view of the valley, its river, its villages perched on the other side and your ride becomes, from the first strokes of the pedals, an enchantment. And the journey has only just begun... The route is signposted "Dolce Via" and is laid out on a former railway line, alternating between greenways with gore (granite sand) or bituminous surfaces and low-traffic roads. The gradient is minimal (1%). The beautiful Corten steel railings (rusty appearance), not only aesthetic but particularly welcome to avoid any risk of falling along the many steep slopes of the route, are a reminder of the route's railway past. Be careful crossing the departmental road 120 when arriving at Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux before reaching the station.

Going through plains and hills, along the rivers Rhône and Isère, enjoy the different landscapes of vineyards and orchards that shape the character of the region. A sporty outing however it remains accessible to all levels. 1 - 0 km Starting from Tain l'Hermitage, the trail climbs up through the Hermitage hillsides giving you an exceptional view over both Valleys of the rivers Rhône and Isère. It then continues along the road on the plateau overlooking the ‘défilé de Saint Vallier” a succession of curves in the majestic Rhône river. 2 – 4.6 km Between dells, glens and gentle hills, the trail heads slowly towards the village of Larnage. 3 – 13.5 km Along the way you will go up and down the hills of Drôme to the Roches qui Dansent (dancing rocks). 4 – 22.1 km An easy journey towards Chantemerle les Blés, with its Roman church offering a remarkably decorative display, before coming to the first hilly areas on the way to Veaunes where you can admire the plains of Herbasse. 5 – 30.5 km After the village of Chanos Curson a route heads south downhill between vineyards and orchards before reaching the banks of the river Isère. 6 – 37.3 km From Châteauneuf sur Isère, the cycling track Vallée de l’Isère (V63) will take you to the edge of the river then along to Pont de l’Isère. 7 – 44.9 km The route follows the river Rhône as far as Tain l’Hermitage (leading to the ViaRhôna).

This trail is quite long and is usually performed in four stages enabling you to discover the culture and pleasures of the palate. You can make the trip shorter or longer depending on your level and preferences. The numerous landscapes and the scenery it has to offer make it extremely rich in diversity. The trail is for cyclists of all levels and ages, however, you need to practice the sport regularly. 1 - 0 km Here in Tain l’Hermitage, the great wines of northern Côtes du Rhône carry the national label Vignobles & Découvertes « d’Hermitage en Saint Joseph ». In addition to that, the chocolate fragrances emanating from the Cité du Chocolat ValRhona will titillate your senses. A real treat for your tastebuds, rich in tannins. But best to keep for the return journey…. 2 – 4.6 km Head for Larnage then Chantemerle les Blés surrounded by terraced vineyards.3 – 8.2 km In Chantemerle les Blés you can visit the church Notre Dame, a gem of Roman art dating back to 11th and 12th centuries.4 – 10.7 km The trail then takes you up and down hills and on the way, past the small lake of Mouchet in Chavannes. The pond is a sensitive nature reserve developed for learning about the fauna and flora of the wetlands and is also an ideal place for relaxing under some of the impressive trees there. 5 – 21.7 km In Saint Donat why not take a swim at the Lake Champos. A slide along with other activities will delight the young and not so young ones. Others may prefer visiting the old town with its collegiate cathedral where each year the Bach Festival takes place in June and July.6 – 36.9 km The trail then continues through the « green lung » of Drome des Collines along the valley of Herbasse to Peyrins near the town of Romans, famous for its industrial and craft heritage (leather and prêt à porter Made in France). 7 – 71.2 km It then carries on to Montrigaud with its pond named Joana Maria where fisherman and tranquillity make it a place to be appreciated. This section, more difficult physically than the two previous ones, has steep uphill inclines. All along, the magnificent views of the Vercors mountains add to its beauty. Worth seeing along the journey, in the neighbouring county Isère, is the medieval village of Saint Antoine l’Abbaye, classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. As you leave Montrigaud the landscape becomes mainly forest land.8 – 77.2 km The trail then takes you through forests, one after the other, such as the forest of Thivollet and Chambaran, going as far as Roybon.9 – 95.4 km Arriving in le Grand Serre with its medieval market hall, you are back in Drôme. From here you head to Hauterives and the famous Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, a gem of art brut where music concerts, including jazz, take place every year in June and July. 10 – 118.6 km Some steep uphill sections and great downhill slopes will then take you to the town of Saint Vallier. Why not make a few stops on the way in Moras en Valloire for instance, a pretty medieval village at the heart of the region, granted the label « site remarquable du gôut » for its succulent pear. Another village is Anneyron with its frescoes in the choir of the church Notre Dame or its outlets like Lafuma or Jars pottery. 11 – 124.4 km You come next to Albon with its classified medieval watchtower. At that point you have plenty of time to warm up as it’s mostly downhill from here to Saint Vallier. 12 – 141.8 km Saint Vallier and the majestic meanders of the Rhône, is the beginning of a succession of views overlooking the great river, the hills of Ardèche and Pilat as well as the Galaure Valley. Another place worth seeing and only a few kilometres away, is the natural site of the Roches qui Dansent in Saint Barthélémy de Vals. Finally the trail zizags through many orchards and terraced vineyards heading towards Larnage then back to Tain l’Hermitage.

You will never tire of looking at the rooftops and impressive Rhône river and how they intertwine, as you walk up the hillside overlooking Tournon sur Rhône. Follow quai Farconnet all the way then go onto the rue du Doux, running parallel at the back of the houses. Carry on along the road and under the railway line. 1 - Tournon sur Rhône - 124 m Follow Saint Jacques 500m Pierre 3.2 km Go up the steep path (GR42a) leading to steps going up to the tour de Pierregourde. The track goes past the watchtower then zigzags along the hillside. 2 - Saint Jacques - 220 m Follow Pierre 2.7 km Plats 10.5 km Follow the path indicating the chapelle viewpoint then after 20m turn left up a few steps onto a path. The narrow track climbs up through boxwood and acacia trees and takes you as far as the viewpoint. Leave the viewpoint to follow the route de Pierre. 3 - Chapon - 325 m Follow Tournon sur Rhône 1.4 km Head down the path and as soon as it starts going uphill take the downhill slope to your left becoming a small track. Follow the track downhill to a wider lane then go along vineyards, on old terraces, until you find yourself below the Tour de Hôpital. Go down then turn left onto the road leading down to Tournon. After the old hospital climb down the steps on the left then turn left and follow the street running below the old hospital taking you to Saint Julien square and the tourist office.

A great family outing almost all the time on safe tracks, along the river Rhône on both banks in Drôme and Ardèche. Head south on the ViaRhona cycling track along the river and cross over on the footbridge.  1 – 0.7 km Follow the cycling trail signs taking you to the edge of the river then go onto the ‘voie verte’ called Chabelet along the Rhône joining up with the ViaRhôna again further down. 2 - 9 km Follow the cycling track back up towards Tournon sur Rhône and the starting point.

A lovely, long hike along the ridges round the Ormèze Valley Reach the centre of the village by the main road Cross the square and head opposite onto rue du Trappou leading to the church. 1 - Colombier le Jeune - 510 m Follow Le Serre 3.1 km Gilhoc sur Ormèze 4.5 km Go past the front of the church and down the street la calade to the fountain square. Go onto the path opposite between two walls, called pont des amoureux then down to the river where you cross the lovely little bridge.2 - Pont de Duron - 485 m Follow Le Serre 2.9 km Gilhoc sur Ormèze 6 km Keep on the small road through meadow and cultures going down to Ormèze. After crossing the lovely bridge over the river, the road goes up towards the hamlet of Bosc. Turn right onto a path going through the hamlet then go up through a wood of chestnut and pine trees. 3 - Le Serre - 550 m Follow Saint Sylvestre 5 km The path overlooks the glen of the stream Peyremaule then emerges into a grove of chestnut trees coming out at la Chapelle. Take the track going down facing the glen through orchards then woodland. When you get to the place called Bogiraud turn right immediately and follow the path along the hillside. 4 - Les Terres - 479 m Follow Turlet 2.3 km Colombier le Jeune 3.9 km When you come to the small road go uphill then leaving it behind you when you reach a path going straight ahead. 5 - Issartier - 430 m Follow Turlet 1.1 km St Barthélémy le Plain 7.7 km 6 - Blenon - 428 m Follow Turlet 700 m St Barthélémy le Plain 7.3 km Take the path emerging onto a small road. Turn left then immediately right onto the path going down into the woods and taking you to the river Ormèze. Careful when crossing the footbridge. 7 - Turlet - 380 m Follow Orion 3.2 km Boucieu le Roi 7.4 km The small road follows the river Ormèze. At the crossroads turn right onto the steep incline. The path becomes narrower and takes you into an oak tree grove then crosses a stream before going up through pine and chestnut trees. Come out of the wood and follow the path until you get to

A cultural venue that hosts various types of live entertainment : classical and amplified music, dance, comedy, adult and children's theater. In the 19th century, Valence was a garrison town, hosting thousands of military personnel in the barracks that were gradually being built. The presence of an artillery school attracted many young non-commissioned officers and officers, sometimes with their families. The municipality regretted not having an entertainment hall worthy of this military elite. So it was decided to build a theater.

Over the course of some 200 performances each season in its three venues and some sixty decentralised venues, more than 40,000 spectators have made the Comédie de Valence, Centre dramatique national Drôme-Ardèche, a lively and shared venue. Marc Lainé, author, director and set designer, took over as director of La Comédie de Valence, Centre dramatique national Drôme-Ardèche, in January 2020, with the ambition of making it one of the major venues for transdisciplinary creation in the service of the dramatic arts. A place for transdisciplinary creation Developing a venue for trans-disciplinary creation means multiplying the number of possible approaches to theater, whether literary, cinematographic, musical or visual... It's about wanting to surprise the audience, to thwart their presuppositions, to help them rediscover the formidable tool for understanding the world and themselves that theater can represent. It's about inviting them to reappropriate art and culture, thanks to the participative dimension that is also at the heart of the project. An artistic ensemble with complementary backgrounds Marc Lainé relies on an artistic ensemble of complementary backgrounds and aesthetics, made up of directors (Guillaume Cayet, Silvia Costa, Tünde Deak, Sarah Delaby-Rochette, Lorraine de Sagazan, Cyril Teste) whose works La Comédie produces or co-produces, and artists from all disciplines (Alice Diop, Penda Diouf, Marie-Sophie Ferdane, Alice Zeniter, Bertrand Belin, Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Stephan Zimmerli, Neo Neo), closely associated with the life of the theater. A regional associate company From 2020 to 2024, a regional company was associated with La Comédie each season. From now on, regional companies will be associated for one term, integrating the Ensemble d'artistes pluridisciplinaires. Guillaume Cayet and Sarah Delaby-Rochette, both directors from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, are joining La Comédie's Artistic Ensemble. Made in La Comédie and partnerships The artists of the Ensemble Artistique contribute to the development of new programs designed for La Comédie de Valence, entitled Made in La Comédie: O.V.N.I. (Objets valentinois non identifiés - unidentified valentine objects), which are participative in situ creative projects that can be realized in any artistic form (graphic novel, film, radio, performance...); projects developed for and with all local audiences, including the renewal of the Comédie itinérante; research programs: the A.R.T. (Ateliers de recherche transdisciplinaire) for directors wishing to explore a particular cross-disciplinary area, and the Studios d'écriture nomades for playwrights wishing to test their text on stage during the writing process, under the watchful eye of Ensemble artists. The Théâtromaton, a mobile workshop structure, like a traveling micro-theater. The CDN's focus on its home region is also characterized by its desire to forge partnerships with all the cultural players in the area. The first season, marked by work on La Comédie to improve accessibility, has enabled us to start thinking about joint projects or links with some of them. Historical background: 1997-2000 La Comédie de Valence was founded in 1997 by actor and director Philippe Delaigue. In January 2001, director Christophe Perton was appointed co-director, giving the Comédie the status of Centre dramatique national, and bringing the Ardèche department into the fold. 2001-2009 Their first mandate saw the creation of the Comédie itinérante, a network of touring productions in the Drôme and Ardèche regions, and the establishment of a permanent troupe, active from 2001 to 2009. They are implementing an artistic policy focused on Europe, contemporary writing and commissions. Christophe Perton was appointed sole director in 2006. He has expanded his project, raising La Comédie's profile by presenting his creations nationally and internationally. 2010-2019 From 2010 to 2019, La Comédie is directed by actor and director Richard Brunel. He surrounds himself with a collective of artists committed to new creations and projects, continues to roll out La Comédie itinérante with some sixty decentralized venues, develops artistic education initiatives and gives high visibility to the CDN's creations and productions on tour in France and Europe.

Jouvet Park is one of Valence's must-see attractions. Your steps will naturally lead you to this 7-hectare green oasis, located in the heart of the city, below the Champ de Mars esplanade and its Peynet Kiosk. At the end of the 19th century, keen to preserve the view from Crussol hill, the municipality decided to create a public garden beneath the Champ de Mars, in the Robine district, featuring a network of canals and small gardens. Théodore Jouvet, a wealthy patron, offered the city the money needed to purchase the land, and in January 1902, the competition programme was published. Fourteen projects were submitted to the town hall. Given the high cost of the project, the city asked Alphonse Clerc, a civil engineer, and Henry Martinet, a landscape architect, to prepare a less ambitious final design and organise its implementation, which was entrusted to the Nivet company of Limoges. The park was inaugurated on 13 August 1905 by Émile Loubet, and numerous additional features were added over the decades. The Champ de Mars bandstand was designed in 1862 by architect Eugène Poitoux and became famous in 1942 thanks to illustrator Raymond Peynet. The proliferation of bandstands in the mid-19th century was linked to the development of musical societies, choirs, and popular orchestras that performed there regularly. The first bandstand was erected in the center of the Champ de Mars in 1862. In keeping with the architectural codes of the time, it was built on a limestone base and consisted of cast iron pillars topped with a molded zinc roof decorated with lyres. Replaced in 1890 by the current bandstand, designed by Eugène Poitoux, it owes its name to the illustrator Raymond Peynet, who, while visiting Valence in 1942, created his famous “lovers.” His sketch of the bandstand sheltering a violinist and an admirer would go on to be seen around the world. Saint-Apollinaire Cathedral is one of Valence's oldest monuments. It stands at the center of the cathedral quarter, adjacent to the ancient Paleo-Christian baptistery and the episcopal palace (now a museum) to the south. Consecrated on August 5, 1095 by Pope Urban II, it was destroyed during the Wars of Religion, then rebuilt identically in the 17th century. The cathedral has undergone numerous modifications. In the 18th century, Bishop Alexandre Milon de Mesme lavishly refurbished his church. He financed the great organ and its case, a new marble altar and decorated the walls with master paintings. The monument to Pope Pius VI, who died in Valence in 1799 as a prisoner of the Directoire, was placed in the choir. The old bell tower-porch, which threatened to fall into ruin after being struck by lightning, was replaced in the 19th century. The cathedral was listed as a historic monument in 1869. In 1548, in the Cathedral cloisters was constructed the funerary monument of the Canon (priest) Mistral. Constructed in molasse stone, its triumphal arch shape bears witness to the increased interest in Antiquity by the Renaissance movement. Sold as national property in 1796, the crypt was used at the end of the 18th century as a cellar and cesspool. Acquired by the City, the Pendentif was one of the first listed monuments in France (1840) barely three years after the creation of the Commission des Monuments Historiques and the passage of Prosper Mérimée in Drôme.
