Nice hike in the Périgord Vert. Departure from Nontron, the cutlery town. Since 1999, the experimental pole of the trades of Art supports in Nontron and on the territory of the park, the development of artisanal activities with strong creative capacity. It also organizes year-round exhibitions that showcase contemporary creations held in the castle overlooking the Garden of Arts. The departure of this hike is located in the city of Nontron, famous for its knives, made since the 15th century. This part of the Périgord, also called "crystalline", offers a network of small roads to discover the natural heritage, linked to streams and water such as the pond of Saint-Estèphe (departmental leisure base), but also to the forest, mainly chestnut trees, not to mention the historical heritage present in each village!

Lussas-et-Nontronneau is a small town that has inherited a beautiful heritage from its long history dating back to the Roman period. Take a walk and discover: a Gallo-Roman "villa" and its bathing area, which attest to the fact that the town was already populated during this period, numerous fiefs and fortified houses, on the site of which were built residences of a defensive nature in the Middle Ages, such as the Château de Beauvais, and numerous churches, most of which still exist today, in spite of major additions and repairs to some of them.

Starting from the village of St Pardoux la Rivière, this flowery walk passes by the wash house and crosses the river Dronne, to discover the pleasures of nature in a peaceful, bucolic and refreshing setting, before joining a part of the green corridor of the Flow Vélo

Nice 9,5 km loop starting from St Front la Rivière. Stroll in the middle of nature, admire the views over the Dronne Valley and discover the historical heritage of the area, in particular the Château du Saulnier and the Romanesque church of St Front; further on you will pass the ruins of the Château de la Renaudie and the Château du Pommier.

Located in the heart of the green Périgord, the site of Saint-Estèphe is part of a rural area of meadows, woodlands, ponds and granite chaos. The various developments have privileged a continuity between the walks on the platforms and the old roadway. The great pond of Saint-Estèphe has the characteristic to integrate equipments intended to allow the reception of the handicapped but also to guarantee them the access to the bathe, the canoe, the fishing and the walk. A ferry also allows a complete tour of the pond.

Departure from Place de l'église from where you will see the Bourdeix tower, then a nice walk through the woods along the Doue river. You will pass in front of the Pinard mill, one of the most beautiful of the Périgord.

La Chapelle-Montmoreau is located in a landscape where the forest dominates, on a point overlooking the Boulou valley, an important biological reservoir; You can admire some heritage buildings, such as a Romanesque church of the 12th century which has an altarpiece of the 17th century and a Gothic statue of the Virgin and Child. The Bourdeix tower is the only remnant of several castles. The first castle was destroyed in the wars against the British under Charles VII. The second castle was built 50 meters further in the 15th century, and a third one near the church in the 17th century century. At the end of the next century, these houses still existed. Dating from the 12th - 13th century, the tower was registered as a Historical Monument in 1988.

The church succeeding Notre-Dame des Clercs, which we see today, was built from 1872 to 1876, designed by the architect Nontronnais Mandin and at the instigation of Father Lavergne (1868-1897) and the Conseil de Fabrique. Of vast proportions, somewhat austere, it presents a barlong building, punctuated in its western part by a high bell tower porch, later, preceding a large double-leaf wooden portal. The organ of the church Notre Dame des Ronces belongs to the parish and communal heritage!

Built in the 15th and 16th centuries by the Conan and Faure families on a Templar stronghold. Château de Beauvais is a vast square building, flanked by two round towers with machicolations. It dominates the narrow valley that separates it from the village of Lussas. Listed as a Historic Monument. Visits from July 19 to 31 and August 1 to August 31, 2024 (except August 15) at 11 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. except Sunday mornings and Mondays. Out of season, visits by appointment. Interpretation panels tell you more about the Gallo-Roman villa of Nontronneau, discovered in 1967 during a drought. Several excavation campaigns have been carried out on this site, the remains of which are now covered over. The villa at Nontronneau is the best-preserved example in the Dordogne of the large rural Roman estates that were established in the "Petrucore" countryside at the beginning of the Empire (1st to 3rd century AD) "petrucore" countryside. Sophisticated baths, reception and ceremonial rooms and rich colonnades prove that the site was long occupied by a noble Roman family with an important public role or function.

Dating from the 13th century, the church Saint-Martin is in the typical Gothic style of the Périgord, which is still very close to the Romanesque style. Between the nave and the choir, a cupola is topped with a square bell tower which is pierced with beautiful geminate windows. On the sacristy door, a beautiful painting depicts an abbess who is believed to be a member of the Beaupoil de Saint-Aulaire family, abbess of Ligueux.
