Interpretation panels tell you more about the Gallo-Roman villa of Nontronneau, discovered in 1967 during a drought. Several excavation campaigns have been carried out on this site, the remains of which are now covered over. The villa at Nontronneau is the best-preserved example in the Dordogne of the large rural Roman estates that were established in the "Petrucore" countryside at the beginning of the Empire (1st to 3rd century AD)
"petrucore" countryside. Sophisticated baths, reception and ceremonial rooms and rich colonnades prove that the site was long occupied by a noble Roman family with an important public role or function.
