Starting from the city of Art and History of Sarlat, you will go through the picturesque villages of the eastern Sarlat region with their roofs of slate. The small road winds up to the village of Carlucet perched on a hillside with an enfeus cemetery. Passing by the Gardens of the Manoir d'Eyrignac, you will come back down to the Dordogne valley via Carlux and Carsac with their respective gardens.

You can enjoy pleasant walks from Maneyrals, to La Roussie, along the Enéa river or around its pond. Proissans is essentially an agricultural place, its land produces tobacco, corn and walnut trees. The country is rich in fertile land. Its stone houses rival each other in charm and in the austere beauty that the Perigord sun illuminates with ochre. You will also find the château de la Roussie, which dates from the 15th and 16th centuries and is listed as a historical monument (private). Sainte-Nathalène is an ancient and bucolic commune, watered by the Énéa, a short tributary of the Dordogne. Its very varied topography (hills, valleys, woods and fields) allows it to practice modern agriculture. In addition, the village is criss-crossed by footpaths which have enabled the development of "green tourism" and the development of rural gîtes. Classified as a "tourist commune" in 1989, Sainte-Nathalène regularly welcomes tourists, especially during the summer season, and has open-air hotels, rural campsites, bed and breakfasts, gîtes, hotels and farm inns. There are various monuments to see such as the church of Sainte-Nathalène from the 15th - 16th century, with its bell-tower-wall, the 16th century manor of Massaud, the 15th century castle of Latour, with its slate roof, listed as a historical monument, and the mill of the Tower.

Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel is a peaceful and rural commune near Sarlat-La Canéda, a village crossed by the Enéa, a charming river full of fish, whose valley is classified as a protected area. The population of the commune has been growing since 1975. This evolution has led to a visible rejuvenation and marks the attractiveness of the town. The village of Saint-Vincent-le-Paluel consists of a 12th century church in Romanesque style with a bell-tower-wall. It has the shape of a Latin cross. Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Vincent are both represented on the carved wooden altarpiece. Close to the church we can see the ruins of a 13th century manor house built by Marguerite de Turenne. Two kilometres downstream, very well situated on a promontory, we can admire the Castle of Paluel which dates back to the 15th century .

Visit our authentic distillery in the heart of the Périgord noir just 2 km north of the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda. If you visit as a group, Jacques Gatinel himself – the son of the founder Raymond Gatinel – will guide you through the distillation workshop, the ageing cellar and the bottling premises. You may also enjoy a self-guided tour of Distillerie la Salamandre by following the informative panels on display at each step of the manufacturing process. Chestnuts, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, walnuts, and more: Learn how the fresh fruits of the Périgord and the greater Southwest area are fermented for several weeks before being distilled the old-fashioned way in traditional copper stills.
