Witness to another era, you'll discover a portion of the remains of the old railroad line linking Hautefort to Sarlat. On the outskirts of Sarlat, this loop will enable you to discover a public space: the Château de Campagnac, set in a vast forest estate. The châteaux of La Carrière and Roucal will surprise you with their contrasting Perigordian architecture. You'll fall under the spell of the old blonde stones of the hamlets of La Carrière and La Bouyerie, with their lauze roofs.

Near Sarlat, less than six kilometres away, around a charming little village, is the village of Proissans. Proissans is a peaceful commune where it is good to come on holiday in its open-air hotels, farm inns, gîtes and bed and breakfast. You can enjoy pleasant walks from Maneyrals, to La Roussie, along the Enéa river or around its pond. Proissans is essentially an agricultural place, its land produces tobacco, corn and walnut trees. The country is rich in fertile land. Its stone houses rival each other in charm and in the austere beauty that the Perigord sun illuminates with ochre. You will also find the château de la Roussie, which dates from the 15th and 16th centuries and is listed as a historical monument (private). The film Cinderella " A tout jamais " was shot in this castle.

Visit our authentic distillery in the heart of the Périgord noir just 2 km north of the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda. If you visit as a group, Jacques Gatinel himself – the son of the founder Raymond Gatinel – will guide you through the distillation workshop, the ageing cellar and the bottling premises. You may also enjoy a self-guided tour of Distillerie la Salamandre by following the informative panels on display at each step of the manufacturing process. Chestnuts, pears, plums, cherries, apricots, walnuts, and more: Learn how the fresh fruits of the Périgord and the greater Southwest area are fermented for several weeks before being distilled the old-fashioned way in traditional copper stills. Marcillac-Saint-Quentin is a commune located on the "Sarlat/Montignac" axis. This axis makes it possible to take advantage of the economic activity with the creation of the locality known as Borne 120. The development of this activity zone allows new businesses to be set up on more than 3 hectares. In 1827, the communes of Marcillac and Saint-Quentin merged under the name Marcillac-Saint-Quentin. This village belongs to the canton of Sarlat-la Canéda. For several years the commune has been experiencing a strong demographic increase. The main economic poles are linked to agricultural, tourist and craft activities. The Romanesque church of Marcillac opens its doors every year for an exhibition of paintings, its architecture is admired by those who discover it. In addition you will find the Château du Barry, 15th and 17th centuries (private).

Two parishes: one perched on the Carlucet mound and the other nestled in the hollow of a small valley, along a road skirting around a rocky mass "Le Roc" on which is probably erected a defensive element: Saint-Crépin. Saint-Crépin contains a strange cemetery with enfeus to which one reaches by the narthex of the church and whose construction was burials in and out of the church. Listed as a Historical Monument, this church was remarkably restored a short time ago and houses a very old font and a magnificent altarpiece One of the most surprising buildings is the magnificent castle of Lacypierre.

Duration: 2 h 30 / Distance: 6.6 km With the "discovery trails" initiated by Randoland at the request of the tourist office, no more walks where the child drags his feet at a distance from the group. Thanks to the circuit sheets, it is he who assumes the role of guide-explorer. The cards are designed as a treasure hunt to discover a historical and natural heritage which are so many clues to solve riddles. For each route, three levels are proposed. Each child finds a sheet adapted to his or her age (4/6, 7/9, 9/12). A mascot, the Rando inspector, accompanies and guides the children on the walk to help them solve the riddles. The puzzle cards can be picked up at the tourist office (many rewards for the children). A map on the discovery routes will also be available for the adults.

This little castle in gold colour stones from the XVe and XVIIe, with a typical perigordian stone roofing called "lauzes" is hidden in the little valley of ever green oak trees, near a roman church. It became a farm and was saved from the ruins by its actula awners who restored it with love and respect, giving a new life and soul, without spoiling anything of its original charm. You will have the privilege to visit this seignior's domain of the XVIIe, guided by the owners who live here all the year. You will be moved by the atmosphere still alive of a charming family house, furnished with respect and love to its history. Groups welcome.
