Tour quiet easy around Najac to discover very old fountains in wooded and quiet surroundings. Start possible from the holiday village VAL-VVF at the locality Puech Moutonniers. Essential to the village life the fountains were supplied by drainage water from the Terre-Rouge/La Planquette plateau. They are called “griffouls”. The first fountain was built in 1344 in the Bourguet area into a granite block. Some ancient consuls and bishops faces are sculpted on it. The fountain was used until the beginning of the 20th century.

Nice footpath with varied landscapes. First part on the hills and trip back along the river Aveyron with shade, ideal place when the weather is warm. Several places of interest all along the tour. Start possible from the Holiday Village VAL-VVF. The Chestnut tree was (with the rye) the basic foods for a long time. It saved a lot of inhabitants from the famine in times of scarcity.

Tour approachable for everybody around the hamlet of Mergieux. However some parts have a difference in height quite important. This tour do not start from Najac, it is accessible by car or from the tours n°6 and n°8. The main part of this tour is in the forest. Some conifers were planted for the forestry development but the broad-leaved trees constituted the forest cover until the early 20th century. The forests around Mergieux holiday village are use by the ONF (Forestry Commission).

Hiking trail "The Causses trail" A small village perched on the remains of the old fortress, Montmurat is strongly influenced by the southern climate, which has given it an extraordinary flora: lily of the valley, boxwood, wild asparagus, vines and orchids. Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets of the village, the Mediterranean influenced architecture is remarkable. From the plateau (after the starting point, access on the D345), this path will also allow you to discover an exceptional 360° panorama of the Lot, Aveyron and Cantal. The interest of this themed trail, mainly in the undergrowth, lies in the creation of a dozen panels, placed along the route, on the marvellous world of bees and in the panoramas that you will contemplate along the way. From the Plateaux du Combal and des Graves, the path opens up to the beautiful views of the Cérou and Aveyron valleys.The rather dry highlands contrast, especially in summer, with the freshness in the valleys provided by the two rivers.Heritage also makes an appearance along the path with the small Saint-Projet Church in Larroque (12th-15th centuries), which features a simple and rustic beauty. From in front of the Town Hall, take the small road to the right for 250 meters. Then cross the Cérou River via the metal footbridge and turn right. Continue along the river towards La Borie. Cross the railway tracks, turn right, and take the path that climbs straight ahead towards the hill. You can pause to enjoy the beautiful viewpoint over the Cérou Valley. Then resume on the path. Pass by the mobile home and, 250 meters later, turn left to take the small trail winding through the woods. Follow this trail to emerge above the "castle" of Ratayrens, an old fortified house with original restoration. Turn left and follow the zigzagging road through the hamlet. Then turn left again and follow the Aveyron River. Pass by the Saint-Projet Church in Larroque (be sure to take a look inside) until reaching Saulieu-Haut. Turn left into the hamlet of Saulieu-Haut and ascend to the ridge that overlooks the two valleys (great viewpoint). Turn right and descend the Chemin de Caudecoste to return to La Borie. Enjoy the view of the Milhars Castle. Head back towards Milhars along the road that follows the railway tracks. At Prunelle, cross the railway line to find the road and the metal footbridge taken on the way out. Continue until you reach your starting point, Place de la Mairie (Town Hall).

The commandery, built in 1236, overlooks the Bonnette Valley in Lacapelle. It houses a chapel, a castle, and outbuildings, a legacy of the Knights Templar and the Knights of Malta. The church is open to the public at any time; the rest of the site is open during Heritage Days. The Notre-Dame des Grâces Chapel, built in 1471 near Lacapelle-Livron, offers a beautiful view of the Bonnette Valley. With its Gothic stained-glass windows, carved portal, and slate roof, it captivates visitors with its architecture and unique setting. On the D 19, just before reaching Lacapelle-Livron, on the edge of a clear plateau, stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Graces, almost overhanging over the picturesque valley of the Bonnette. It was originally a sepulchral chapel, founded in 1741, for him and his family by Pierre de Pause lord of Mondésir. It is an extremely graceful building. The choir is five-sided, the nave of square plan. The vault was rebuilt in ridges during the nineteenth century. Stained-glass windows adorn the Gothic mullioned windows. The portal looks tiny. It is in hug and very richly decorated with sculptures, especially tufts of thistle. The chapel is topped with lauzes, flat stones of the country. Open very punctually, this building is however worth the detour if only for its external architecture and for the point of view on the valley of Bonnette.

Organized to accommodate markets, the place, long and narrow, is surrounded by stone or wood covered houses from 15 and 16th centuries. They all have porches under which the stalls were sheltered for sale.

This public fountain deeply carved in a huge mass of granite is at the center of the village. A latin inscription relates the date of its construction and the name of the Conuls under whom it was erected.

This chapel was previously linked to a hospital and a cementery. The gate is the only remaining item. It was linked to and relied upon the Dômerie d’Aubrac.

Built at the foot of the fortress, this residence dating from the end of the Middle Ages, is said to have been the residence of the Senechal du Rouergue in the day when Najac was the administrative and judiciary capital of the Rouergue province.

This is a defensive strucutre built at the same time as the forteress by Alphonse de Poitiers. It is used to be part of the wall that surrounded the city of Najac until the 18th century.

This used to be a rest area (hence the name : La Pause) on the medieval road (former roman path) leading to Najac via the St Blaise bridge. Thanks to renowned fairs and traditional markets, this part of town remained a flourishing neighborhood until the end of 19th century.

This gothic bridge was built in the 13th century, along the primitive road witch led toward Villefranche de Rouergue. It allowed merchants and pilgrims to cross the Aveyron river in all seasons, on their way to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.
